It does vary from child to child, but I'd say on average, for a typically-developed child with no disability, it's perfectly fine to be left alone while a parent nips to the shop for under half an hour after the age of 10.
For a whole day, I'd say more like 14.
I was cooking my own meals, walking to and from school and being left alone by the age of 9.
