What do you do when going out?

Can i just ask i quick question - when using a carton i know the SMA cartons hold about 8/9oz. Once opened could you use it for 2 feeds as my little girl takes between 3-5oz about every 3/4hours? We are going away for the night this weekend and have been thinking about taking the ready made cartons. x

We fill bottles with required amount of boiled water then use TT formula pots ....just tip formula in when hes ready for a feed....he also takes his milk at whatever temp, soo really is easy for us :D lol!

You can but only if its kept in the fridge :)

I was given a little talk by MW and shown a video just before I left the hospital that said although making bottles one at a time as needed is best, if you need them in advance the best way to do it is to make them as usual 30 mins after kettle boiled and then store in back of fridge until needed. So I guess if you just got an insulated bag to keep it cool while out and about then it should be fine? Then just take a travel flask with warm water to heat the bottle if needed xx

what i do is boil the water and fill up to 2.5oz (harrison takes 4oz) then when i need them when im out i have a flask with boiling water so just top it up and its ready. then add the power. is this ok?

the reason for using hot water is that it is supposed to kill any bacteria in the milk.

Why would there be bacteria in the milk?
I don't understand that? Surely it is all made and packaged in a sterile environment? Then all you need to do is add it to the water, I thought the point of boiling the water was to make the water safe and then it can be used hot or cold to mix with powder?

I always used to fill the bottles for the day with boiled water, let them cool down and then just add powder when needed.

It is, but what happens once you open the carton? You don't use that whole amount in one go so it is sitting in a non sterile environmant for about a week (depending on how much you're using!) :)
