What exactly is pate?

What exactly is pate?...i was tempted to buy some for my LO but there are so many different kinds and im not too sure that its too good for you?...are they just a sandwich spread? Anyone explain? x

pate is a mixture of ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. Common additions include vegetables, herbs, spices, and wine.

becareful because they are usually quite high in fat, and especially salt for LO's x

You can get veggie pates too, but like FedUp said, they are usually high in salt and fats

all i know is liver pate isnt allowed in pregnancy dunno why.

i love brussels pate! dont know if i would give it to LO though, dont think she would like it
