What have you bought today?

I just bought a couple more books after ds2 telling me he's read "everything" haha

My youngest told me about books she read at school and would like at home. Sent the names to my sister as she wanted to get some books. I wish my girls loved books more!

Forgotten to post all my buys lately but I'm almost done! Will have to post a pic in the stash thread if I ever have no children at home isolating
Today though I received a Scholastic order: Dork diaries 1-10 set, Babysitters club graphic novels set and The Witches graphic novel.

Couldn't agree more. Finding it a difficult age to buy fiction for, particularly being a boy. I'm not sure if he's getting a bit old for David Walliams, and although I do have a secret love of young adult fiction they are more aimed at girls. John Boyne seems to be a winner right now, but some of the books aimed at 13-15 from other authors are about murders or the darker side of the Internet and although I'm honest with my kids about the dangers out there I also don't want his reading time to give him anxiety hahaha

Ive read quite a lot of teen fiction to my son since he was tiny and have really enjoyed some of it myself. There are a few series such as the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan (modern day teenage demi god, lots of Greek myths involved) there are a couple of other series follow on from them. There's also a series that starts with the book 'I am number 4' (Pittacus Lore) and another 'Itch' by Simon Mayo, the works have quite a good choice of young adult options that work well for boys who aren't particularly into sport.

Yay! That's exciting, always nice to get a new carpet down :)

I've just put a new carpet down in the living room, am still at the loving it stage whenever I walk in.

Ahhh sorry about your DDs reaction Monkee !

Today I bought PJs for some of the kids in the family
I got DD1 a barbie set for her birthday in December
Also got DDs these dress up dolls kind of like Our Generation but half the price haha
Wrapping paper
Cello tape because you can never have enough or even find it once you bring it home haha

Just did a bad thing ...

Pre ordered a fortnite special edition Nintendo switch.

See he's not really in to fantasy stuff which rules quite a bit out.

All I need for him now is pjs and a charging/battery kit for his Xbox controllers

I’m totally done for H for main bits

My mum sent me money to buy Christmas presents so lots ordered today :xmas6:

Lego star wars set
2 x lego ninjago sets
Lego iron man armoury
Lego Minecraft set
Catboy car
Lightsaber
Elsa dress
Elsa shoes
Frozen storybook lego
Toot toot repair centre
Marshall flip & fly car
Dolce gusto machine

DH is going to be helping build a lot of lego this Christmas

I bought a little velvet trinket box with her initial for my Bestie, a cute dachshund ornament/present tag for my mum and doggy xmas paper for my mum's and SIL's presents. Even though I have no idea yet what to get them lol.
Yesterday I got a wonderful book (Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik) for my bestie, which I hope she will enjoy but it is hard to say as we don't always have the same taste. She likes some truly bloodcurdling murder mysteries and I like fantasy :haha:

motherofboys, has he read Jack London? Or is that too fantasy too? I devoured them at about that age. Also the Hornblower series was another young teen favourite of mine. (And more recently the tv show from 2003 onwards cause... Ioan Gruffudd. Need I say more?! lol)

I love myth and fantasy!
The 'Itch' books are science/thriller, Itch collects elements from the periodic table, unexpected coming across a new element.
Pitacus Lore are science fiction, teenager from another planet, with additional powers, hiding out on earth while being pursued by nasty aliens...

Purchased some stocking filler bits for DS from The Works and also got 30 x Christmas Books as I am going to do a Christmas Book Advent Calendar this year

Oh what a lovely idea! Are they all just Christmas themed books or all sorts they might enjoy? And how are you going to present them? Will they be in a sort of calendar or just with numbers? I am so tempted to do something similar as I don't really like the chocolate calendars and the boys find the traditional ones a bit boring.
I used to do it for my mum for about 20 years (until we had the boys and then I didn't have the money anymore as it got more and more expensive as I ran out of new ideas.)

Took advantage of the entertainer offer.
Got a hatchimal Pixie flyer for DD2 (reduces by £5 to £29.99).
Got two Barbie colour reveal mermaids.
£10 off plus the £5 off the pixie means I saved £15 whoo.

Now I need to get hold of another pixie flyer but the purple one. Entertainer was out of stock!
EDIT managed to get a purple one but from another store.
