What little things gripe you? Pet peeves? Come have a rant! :)

Argh!!!! That annoys me PP and I don't even have a pushchair, it's SO rude, I always help someone if they need it!

Same if people don't move out the way for a pushchair on the bus, grinds my gears.

xxx

Going around with a pushchair really shows you the generosity in some people, and how some people just ignore or just stare and watch.

Truth

one time I was leaving my apartment with LO and had him in the car seat, his stroller, diaper bag, and of course my purse and there was a few guys sitting on the first floor balcony. And they all just watched me struggle. I just yelled 'don't mind me, just sit there staring and enjoying your Saturday morning hangovers' :)

Yesterday I took DS to a "family day" at my sister's university (my alma mater), basically it was a bunch of festivities mixed with tailgating for the game that afternoon. Anyway, took LO in the silvercross (the "beast" pushchair, at least compared to my usual Quinny zapp). I was surprised at the number of people who were really good about opening doors and going out of their way to help, but also a surprising number of people would not make room on the sidewalk so I had to run off the edge, etc. It was a really crowded event, so it was quite interesting.

OH putting can of diet coke back in fridge after opening and then leaving it overnight, only to chuck the half an inch of flat coke down the sink in the morning anyway.

Hillarys Blinds sales pitch phone calls when I have repeatedly told them I would never buy their crap, overpriced blinds again after both of them fell down within a year.

Thought of one today...we share a driveway and I CAN'T STAND our neighbours (or their friends) walking past and gawking in at our lounge :grr: Happened again today and I just sat and glared at them. Nosy feckers

Yes, yes I know we should really get net curtains put up...:haha:

This is an impressive thread, I've tried to reach as much as possible but after 20minutes I give up lol! So here's my list, it's long for many things annoy me.

•Men who take up more than one seat on the train because they insist on keeping their legs spread wide open. Come on, your thing does not need THAT much room!

•People who post a picture of their baby/child as their facebook profile picture. Not sure why this annoys me, but it does lol.

•People who talk about dieting, calories, weigh ins, and who think carbs are evil.

•People who answer their cell phones while at the dinner table.

•People who use the toilet and don't wash their hands after.

•People who do simple math using their fingers.

•When someone's dog jumps all over me (I'm afraid of dogs) and they just laugh and smile and tell me that "he's just being friendly."

•When people force me to take off my shoes at their house - but only if their house is dirty. I have no problem with it if their house is clean, but yuck, you really want me to walk around your un-mopped floor with cat hair all over it with my bare feet?

•People who curse in public. Recently a woman on the subway said to some teenagers "hey guys, watch your language, there's little kids here." And they threw her out of the train and beat her to a pulp.

•When women stay in the bathroom far too long primping while others are waiting in line to pee.

•Putting salt on your food before tasting it first.

•Ordering food at a fast food restaurant. I say "I'd like a #2 with medium french fries and a diet coke." and they say "do you want the meal or just the sandwich?" and then "what size?" and then "what drink?" It's like, LISTEN! I gave you all the info in my first short succinct sentence.

•When people serve themselves food but tick the serving spoon on their plate as they deposit the food. Yuck, the serving spoon has just been germinated!

•When a random stranger tells me to "SMILE!" on the street.

•People who get off the escalator and just stand there. Move!

ETA - People who are offended by other people's pet peeves. Oh, and poor grammar and spelling, major pet peeve.

Its a little offensive to say people who do maths on thier fingers are a pet peeve. What about learning difficulties?

i second this ^ im not dumb, nor do i have learning difficulties, but i use my fingers for any maths.. just bcos sometimes its easier, and that way i know its more than likely going to be correct..

i also put salt on any meal, wether ive tasted it first or not!!

i agree with the one about facebook profile pics.. i have my pics of my LB private, so no one can see unless i choose them to. i have someone who had theirs public, on their profile pics & even on the fb competition sites. they then complained that it was on one of those pedophile fb pages.. im sorry its a terrible thing, but its her own fault...

Yep, I third that, I'm dyspraxic and maths is completely incomprehensible to me, counting on my fingers is one way I can try to get it right. It is embarrassing, people do take the piss, but it's the only way that works for me.

You don't have to agree or support my pet peeves. I don't mean any offense, but this is what the thread is for isn't it? I mean, maybe I'm one of the people who doesn't know how to park their car very well even if I do try. Am I supposed to take offense because other people find me annoying? It's so easy to take offense, isn't it? My husband counts on his fingers, can't subtract 2 from 10 without doing it and it really does annoy me. I'm sooooooo not sorry about my pet peeve.

from wiki "A pet peeve or pet hate is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to themselves, to a greater degree than others may find it."

i think the problem is, that the poster above you, needs to use her fingers to count, and she feels embarassed about that as it is..
a person not being able to park, is different than a person not being able to do math sums... i don't think you purposely meant to offend someone, im not offended by it, i don't give 2 hoots if people look at me and laugh cos i use my fingers to take 8 away from 20. its my problem not yours, and not anyone elses...

Actually, I don't but a huge number of the 22q older kids and adults I have met find numbers too abstract to understand. They struggle daily, I have spoken to moms who's kids cry thier hearts out over not being able to perform mathematical tasks like thier peers. They did not ask to be born like that, they have struggled with so much thier whole lives so if thier way of processing makes another person annoyed, I feel sad for that person.

Is that what you got out of my pet peeve list? That I hate children with learning disabilities? That's so funny I forgot to laugh. I also hate children who can't tie their own shoe laces of course. If you have no concept of the irrational nature of a pet peeve then of course you will be offended.

I think babymamma was referring to my post when she said the poster above. I agree with what you said, I work with post grad students, many of whom have dyslexia and dyspraxia and have been teased their whole lives about it.

People chopping down beautiful trees for yet more concrete and cars etc.

I use my fingers to count haha, I don't understand why it's a pet peeve of yours but each to their own! I'm not very good at maths and have really low confidence so I do it on my fingers to sort of back myself up.

My pet peeve of the day is people who say about Elodie 'oh, she doesn't have your red hair!' Nope she doesn't, sorry to disappoint :haha: it was fine the first few times but after the fifth time it does start to grate :dohh:

People saying that their baby "stole" their food.
Using "super" as an adverb.
People blowing kisses.
Noisy eating, especially smacking one's lips or slurping.
People claimimng that their kid is "super intelligent".

I count on my fingers and I'm not the least bit offended! How silly to assume palestrina has an issue with people who have learning difficulties?

My OH has reading and learning difficulties and mouths while he reads. It annoys me but he takes no offense. My finger counting probably irritates him! He's very good with numbers.

My biggest pet peeves are:

chewing loudly
slurping
heavy breathing
dirty clothes dumped on the floor
women who put on a helpless act so a man moves something heavy for them

Yes, yes I know we should really get net curtains put up...:haha:

Same here! Everyone who walks up the driveway looks into our lounge. The neighbours son comes to stay every couple of weeks and he walks back and forth looking at us...back and forth...once he was standing with his head pressed against the door.

Where the holy F did you get THAT from? No where did I say hate! Wow!
