What teas are safe to drink during pregnancy?? Only write them down if u know for sure if they are safe. I was drinking non-caffeined camomile tea and read on here a few women wrote that it's not that safe and that it can cause uterus contraction, so I asked my doctor about it and he said it's true, so just drink it in moderation. I just don't want to drink at all right now, why risk my baby and drink any of the teas that can do anything to cause even the slightest risk of me losing this baby. So I quit on camomile tea, which sucks because now I have no idea which teas are good and what I could have and feel safe. Any ideas whats safe?? what are you ladies drinking?

I drink regular decaffeinated tea, but only when I'm sick. I know for sure that's safe, but it definitely doesn't taste all that great. I was told by people on here during my last pregnancy not to drink green tea or herbal teas or chamomile... so I don't! Only Lipton brand decaf for me.

Redbush tea, not to different to normal tea, I have mine with milk and sugar an it's naturally decaf, midwife said its fine to drink x

Peppermint tea is fine and fab for heartburn, nausea and indigestion. It also helps ease trapped wind. Also raspberry leaf tea is good in the later stages of pregnancy so 34+ weeks. Ginger and lemon tea are also absolutely fine nd good for nausea and vitamin c when uv got a cold xxxx

Stay away from herbal teas and chamomile. The only tea I drink that I know for sure is safe is decaffeinated Earl Gray or decaf English Breakfast.

Also normal tea is fine in small amounts, ie not like 5 cups a day lol :-D

All of this :) I was really sad that I couldn't drink all my herbal teas anymore. So I stick to either black tea (earl grey mostly) and peppermint tea since I'm only 19w. I have raspberry leaf tea for once I get to the end of my pregnancy.

i have been drinking camomile tea all along. Max 2 cups a day but when i looked it up at the start of pregnancy i read it was safe? Dont think i will drink it anymore more now. Is it very dangerous. I am 14+ weeks, hope i havent done any harm.

Any decaf tea is safe pregnancy. As long as you aren't drinking more than 2 cups a day. It's still consider a stimulant just like coffee. Don't worry! I made sure I asked my doctor a few hundred times. lol

I drink hot water with a slice of lemon or orange in it. Very refreshing and a little Vit C in it to keep colds away. Actually tastes very nice. Also no one seems to think it odd when I ask, as they prob put it down to pregnancy cravings or something lol

I have been drinking chamomile for the last couple weeks, averaging 2 - 3 cups a day (made strong). Well last night I had to go to the hospital because I was having pre-term contractions every 1 - 3 minutes.
Thankfully my cervix is closed and a test to check if labour is imminent came (fetal fibronectin test) back negative. Dr prescribed 100mg capsules of progesterone, to be taken 3x a day. My contractions finally started to calm down about 2 hours after my second dose.
Dr said there is no way to tell if they were caused by the tea, but to steer clear of it now.
He said peppermint tea is okay, but to remember not to overdo it, and to have one cup or two weaker cups a day.

Roobios or red tea as sometimes called is lovely.

You are fine just don't drink too much of it anymore. i drank camomile till like 14th week as well until I found out it was bad. It can cause uterus contractions and that's pretty much why it's bad. I guess it can cause that only while drinking it, otherwise if you drank and stopped I'm pretty sure you are okay and haven't caused any harm.

So sorry to hear that hun, hope you are doing okay right now. Just stay off of teas, since I heard about camomile not being all that safe, I have completely cut it even though the doctor said i could have a cup every other day or so, I just don't want to risk it and put my baby at any risk.

How does peppermint tea taste like?? I never tried it, but keep thinking it's all pepperminty too much and I won't like it, not sure if I should buy it and try it. Anyone not like it?

Peppermint tea is delicious. You should def give it a try.
The progesterone seems to be helping my contractions, although I still get them if I'm on my feet too much.
I'm sure a cup of chamomile tea every once in a while is "safe". Like I said I was drinking a lot of it and I was making them strong. I have an anxiety disorder and the chamomile was to help me relax. Def backfired on me though!
I'll update after I see my OB on Thursday.

Peppermint tastes more or less like the strong mint chewing gum (peppermint chewing gum).
If you like the taste of mint in general, you should like the taste of peppermint tea. I usually add a half teaspoon of sugar to mine as well, otherwise it can be a bit bitter.

I think most of the non-caffeinated teas are ok as long as they're not taken too often. As in, if you're drinking it all the time, you need to be 100% certain it's fine, but if you drink them once every few days or even once every week or two (like me), you should be ok.

Personally I've been drinking hot water with honey and lemon juice because it helps my cough and seems to help rhinitis as well.
