What type of birthmark is this?!

yes my Lo has one on his forehead, I was told it was a pressure mark that they get from being in the birth canal, I think it fades before they are two. My niece had one too and hers is gone though they do appear again if they cry or get angry!

Thanks for the picture, his seems a lot lighter than Sophie's but it looks exactly the same. :flower:

Those ones are like v shaped and are called stork marks. My daughter has the same.
Its not a strawberry mark - those are other wise known as hemangiomas, which are a group of blood vessels under the skin to make a raised bright red bump. My daughter has one of those too under her right eye. Ill see if i can add a pic to show the difference.

Thank you for the picture, it's great to be able to see the difference cus it all just confused me! She's a really cutie :cloud9:

Thank you!
That was taken when she was about 6 weeks, shes 7 months next week! Her hemangioma is still there under her eye, but its not often that i can see the V stork mark on her forehead now, unless she's having a tantrum, so i think they do fade over time.
When i first realised Kates was a birth mark and not a bruise, i was gutted, but over time ive become to love it. Its what makes her Kate, i couldnt imagine her without it. xx :hugs:

Jack had "stork bites" on his eye lids which have now gone (he is two). And Emily has them on her forehead and below her nose. Not as big as your little ones but similar looking - they have faded a little (she is 11 weeks)

Yea, Sophie's becomes a lot more red when she cries/poos lol.

I honestly am not bothered by it. I can't really imagine her without it. I think OH is gutted about it though. But she could have 10 arms and she'd still be perfect in my eyes so I guess I'm biased lol!

My nephew had that same thing, and it went away a few months after he was born. Then, whenever he cried, it would show up in bright pink... But it would go away again after he calmed down. I don't remember when it went away for good, but it certainly wasn't permanent... I know it went away before he was 2, but I can't remember if it went away before he was 1. He's 9 now, so it was just a long time ago.

Looks like a stork mark, my LO has smaller one on his forehead and on his eyelids. They are fading slowly.

thanks for posting the pic, thats really interesting as thats defo not what my LOs is like  maybe his is one of the pressure marks that people have mentioned. i never knew there was so many different varieties until he was born :dohh:

Fedup1981 your daughters strawberry birthmark is exactly the same as my daughters except hers is on her eyelid. I'd say that the birth mark looks a little big to be a stork bite (such a cute name) and definitely isn't a strawberry birthmark (hemagioma). I'd ask GP, good luck :flower:

Yes my LOs was darker when he was born and has already faded a lot, your LO is still young (and very beautiful )
I also dont mind it at all - its all part of him now
You can see it better here - the day he was born he also has one on his eyelids

I do think this looks like an infantile hemangioma. They usually start out looking like a faint bruise at or shortly after birth, they then become more red and then raised and then with time they shrink and become more purple. They are more obvious with crying. You should consider having a dermatologist follow her. Hemangiomas around the mouth have a small chance of associated airway hemangiomas. If she has had any difficulty breathing/wheezing she should be seen as soon as possible.

Bless him, what a little heartbreaker!

She also has a very tiny marking on one of her eyelids. But compared to the one under her nose and on her forehead you can barely see it.

Well it's definately not become more red, or raised. If anything it's faded slightly. She has a snuffly nose, but I honestly don't think it's anything to worry about in that sense.

She spent a week in hospital for unrelated issues and I think if it was something to be concerned about the would have mentioned it...

Sorta looks like my LO's birthmark ?

on his eyelid, it's been there since birth, probably faded a bit but still visible, I'm clueless but it's never concerned me tbh
[ignore his little cuts after attacking himself accidentally when someone forgot to trim his fingernails ]

My neice has one of these in the exact same place it has faded quite well and she will be 1 in feb x

a baby in my toddler group has this, in the except same place. Hes 5 months now and has really faded :)

Really looks like a stork bite to me. My daughter was born with one. We were told they are caused by the pressure of their head against the birth canal. We were also told it should be gone or mostly faded by 2 but may show up when she cries or gets angry. I have a few pictures of then and now. They may be big or really small because I'm on my I pad sorry.

First two are about 2 months old and third is 15 months old. You can hardly see it now. She also had one on the back of her neck.

Brother had the same thing and it completely faded around 5 or 8 years (wide gap i know we are 10 years apart :p)

It looks like a Salmon Patch (stork bite/angel's kiss) to me Hon :hugs: .... Port Wine stains tend to have very clearly defined borders whereas Salmon Patches are more 'feathery' at the edges  :hugs:
