What type of birthmark is this?!

Thanks ladies.

I will keep an eye on it to see if it changes size etc. but I think we will just have to wait and see at the 6 week check.

Hello! My little boy Charlie was born with 'Angel kisses' on both eye lids, forehead, bridge of nose and upper lip! At first I was sad thinking it wouldnt go away and worried he would get bullied but as he's got older it has faded a lot (his were very red)!!

I was also told they were bruises but they did mention they could be burst blood vessels from the ventouse I had to get him out!!

I don't know if they'll ever really go but hes 17 weeks and they faded a lot!!

It doesn't look like a portwine stain...looks like "angel kisses" or "stork bite" to me. My DD has them on her eyelids and under her hair at the nape of her neck. I've been told they should fade over time, my friend's children both had them but they disappeared over a couple of years.

My baby has/had something very similiar,on both eyelids,
between eyes a little and also on the back of her head underneath
her hair.I was told at birth that they were bruises, but asked again
when I had a health nurse appointment ad she said they were stalk bites.
I was told they fade over time before 1 yrs old but the ones that appear on
back of head or neck never disappear.my babies eyelids have cleared up
somewhat, when she cries they tend to reappear slightly but the one
on the back of her head is still as red as ever, she is only
5 months old so not sure if they will fade completely. My older daughter had
a strawberry mark on her arm that had faded completely, but it's still hot to
the touch and is rather hairy on the spot it used to be.lol

I'm not sure what type of birth mark it is but I just had to comment OP and say your little one is soooo cute, she is adorable, love the look on her face LOL :D

Theyre called 'Salmon patches' or 'Angel kisses' on the face and 'Stork bite' on the back of neck.

As your baby's skin stretches as they grow the marks fade. If you stretch the skin a little with your fingers is disappears.

This is Charlie new born then now at 4 months.

:)

One of my babies had stork marks on both eyelids. At first they appeared very red and have gradually faded. Every now and then it can go red but not very often, usually when she cries!

My friend's lo had exactly the same as yours. She is now 7 and it has considerably faded.

Stork bite. My niece has one in the exact same place. She is 2 now and it is not completely gone, but it has REALLY faded. You only really notice it when she is crying or mad... it flares up then lol It is completely harmless and should fade in time xx

They are stork bites, I have one between my eyebrows that is still slightly noticeable in certain lights etc. My two eldest boys both have a port wine stain at the nape of their neck but they have faded significantly and most of the time their hair is covering it anyway xx

My baby has one on her forehead as well. It was a lot darker and has faded quite a bit already. She has quite a large patch on the back of her neck. Soon be hidden as hair grows longer. I am not concerned at all i mentioned it to the dr at her 6 weeks check and she said its nothing to worry about so i am assuming it will eventually go in its own time.

My eldest is 15 and had one above her lip it took forever to go possible more than a year you would never know it now.

good thread op :flower: my 1 month old baby girl has one between the eyes and over her one eye lid so good to hear it should fade.Wonder what causes them?

Johnny has one on the back of his neck. My GP said it was a birth mark and very common so not sure if it goes. Your LO is adorable!!

They used to say it was pressure from the birth but I read recently it's actually the endings of blood vessels being close to the surface of the skin and because baby's skin is more transparent it shows up more xx

My son has a hemangioma (sp) on top of his head. His doctors say it usually goes away on it's own around 1 year, did any one else's ?

My LO has exactly the same thing in the same place too altho its more of a V shape. also has 3 more on her head but its covered by her hair, wot hair she does have lol. Was told it was pressure marks but shes amost 5 months n still hasnt gone lol, was then told a sork bite, i now think its just a strawberry birthmark. I had it too when i was a baby n it disappeared after a year or so :)

Day she was born to her a few weeks go almost gone!

My doctor says she'll have it for a few yrs before it fades. She has a hemangioma on her forehead in the shape of a heart.

yes i think someone on here said it was from the pressure of birth but i had a E csection :haha: so unless im missing something? your answer makes more sense to me but why some bubs and not others? x

I'd say port wine stain. I have a massive one all the way down my right arm from should to wrist. It's not that noticable now, but was worse when i was younger.
