I've had the worst head cold ever for the past 2/3 days, and been feeling absolutely rotten. I've had a super blocked, dry, nose which isn't good because I have a sort of fear/phobia of not being able to breathe through my nose because I feel like I'm suffocating. So I went to ASDA and bought a nasal decongestant spray. I checked the instructions on the box before I purchased it, and it said that it was for adults and children over 12, and nothing about pregnancy, so assumed it was safe. I had used the Vicks branded one in first tri and the doc said it was okay, but I went for the ASDA's own version as they didn't have the Vicks one in stock.
Anyways...I've been using it 2/3 times a day since the day before yesterday and today out of bordem, I randomly decided to read the little leaflet in the box and it says: "Do NOT use whilst Pregnant or breast feeding." and then below that it says "You should not use this product if you are: pregnant."
So I stopped using it straight away, and when I just went to the toilet for a wee, there was some pink on the tissue paper. Now I'm super worried and kicking myself for using the spray and trusting the instructions on the box, rather than opening the box before I bought it and reading the leaflet.
Do you think I've caused my baby any harm? I've felt some movement, and there was only the tiniest amount of pink when I wiped once, I'm just super worried.
I have an appointment with my OBGYN tomorrow, so don't see the need in phoning the midwife when she'll tell me to wait until then anyways because she's useless.
Anyone else used a decongestant nasal spray whilst pregnant and been okay?

I used one not knowing I was pregnant... I was probably about 14 weeks at the time. No issues as far as I know..

Thank you :) I'm just worried that I've had the spotting, but she's still kicking me and moving regularly.
I think they should put the pregnancy warnings on the box. Will deffo be more careful with things like this in future.

If you have movement I would think baby should be fine. :)

I've never heard of Afrin, so not sure it's available in the UK, but will have a look.

I think decongestants are advised against because they can cause damage to the placenta. Just take the medicine with you to your appt but I'm sure a nasal spray won't have done any harm xx

My doctor told me Sudafed is ok. I asked another doctor to be sure. They even printed a list of ok drugs to use.

I had checked with my midwife about using decongestants and nasal sprays and was told pregnant women should not use them as they can thin blood vessels and with us carrying extra blood during pregnancy can cause issues within the cervix. But she did also say that this is very rare and not to worry about this too much. Best to mention to your midwife when you see her but try not to worryx

Will deffo be taking the bottle with me to my.consultant appointment in an hour. Haven't been spotting any more, but got a ton of discharge so thinking it might be an infection? Still had normal movements, so hoping I've not done any damage. Cant believe I was dumb enough not to check the leaflet first :(
Sticking to Vicks vapour rub - both smothered on my chest and melted in hot water!! (Which is totallu safe in pregnancy ;))
