We are having a barbecue this lunchtime and Micah is going to be in the garden with us while we cook. As we're BLW he'll be having some barbecued steak and veg. We're really looking forward to 'baby's first barbecue', but when I went into our local butcher to ask whether they could recommend something for a baby to have at a barbecue, (I thought they might make a burger with no salt in or something) the butcher said, "he's too little for a barbecue isn't he? for that baby there? ridiculous" and then gave me a really sneery look and said "none of my business" and as he walked off I'm sure I heard him say "poor thing" to his colleague! I was really hurt and left without buying anything. My OH said maybe he meant because of the smoke in the air? or is barbecued food bad because of the smoke? or was it just a comment on BLW? Maybe if assumed an 8 month old would be on puree? I'm paranoid now!!
