Hi All,

Just wanting to give you a bit of my history first! And sorry for the long post

Dh & i ahve been ttc for over 5 years. Never conceived in this time. In April this year we attended our 1st Fertility Specialist Apt. It was discovered at this apt my dh SA had ASAB's and we were to return in 3 months to be re-tested. I was told I was fine, fit & healthy 31 yo. If SA was to come back the same we would proceed to ICSI.

In the 3 months we attended accupuncture, returned to have DH SA completed again. The results were perfect... YAY! I was scheduled to have a HSG, just to check???? Had this done at in August. This was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life! I was informed that I had a unicornuate uterus and that although I had a right ovary there was no tube or uterus....

I received a letter from the FC a couple of days later, requesting that I contacted them asap to a arrange a prescription for IUI meds???

I found this a bit alarming as I did not want ot pay out hundreds of euros for something that may not work (I had been told that if I ovulated from the right hand side, the cycle would be cancelled... and still have to pay out the money)????

I went to see my own GP and arranged a Scan to check my kidneys (often 1 not functioning/missing with UU). This was fine.
I also asked him to refer me to a gyne as I felt this was specialist area, and I wanted to get more info before proceeding any further.

I had a lap & dye, D&C and hysterscopy on Wed.

I DO NOT HAVE A UU - I had been completely mis diagnosed!!

What he did find though was that
1 - My right ovary & tube are there and look perfect - but the tube is completely blocked at the entrance to the uterus. He advised that he would like to remove it for fear of ectopic (which would have been enhanced if I had went with the FC's advice). He said that I could see about getting the tube un-blocked - but would have to see someone more specialised. He would be happy to refer me.

2 - My left ovary and tube - look completely abnormal, but they do seem to be functioning. Ovary is stuck to my uterus.

3 - My bladder is also stuck to my uterus, and showed a number of adhesions in all areas.

I really do not know where to go from here, not sure if this is worse or better than the origional diagnosis of UU.

I am really mad with the clinic that I had attended and how many things that they failed to investigate. It really is just a case of taking your money...

Most of all, I really feel that my chances of having a baby are rapidly slipping away!!

If anyone out there has any advice, could they please help me? I do not know what step to take next....

So did they tell you that you have endo? That's what it sounds like from your description. Did they say anything about attempting to fix any of the adhesions during the lap? I have heard of plenty of ladies getting this done then becoming pregnant shortly after. I would get in touch with a new specialist to get to the bottom of things.

Sorry if these are daft questions. So does your uterus look OK? If it does and you have an ovary I think IVF is the best option! All you ned for that is an egg, hubby's sperm and uterus.

Sorry I can't be of much help:shrug:

Hi there and thanks for your reply.

No he never said the word endo, but did say alot about adhesions. I do not think that he did anything to try and fix them either. He offered to refer me to someone more specialised in things... i.e getting the tube unblocked etc.

I think you are right about getting to the bottom of things rather than jumping to another FS. Sorry my info is a bit vague, but I spoke to him an hour post op and was pretty drugged up!!!

Thank for your reply, he said that the uterus looks fine from the outside, and could go for another procedure... cannot remember the name of it - to look in more detail.

I saw the unicorn shape of the uterus with my own eyes with the HSG.. Just really confusing???

IVF is an option, but with the abnormalaties that I have shown up. I want to be sure that my body is acceptable!!
