12week scan-The sex??

Well Today i have been told by my hospital that at my 12wk scan on the 10th oct is the only time i can find out the sex of my baby..apparently they don't do it at a later scan because it's hard to tell because of the babies position....And they also stated to me that unless they are handing out questionaires then they will not tell me the sex of my child...for reasons as such as beeing sued and because asian women might abort the baby when they find out the sex.

This all sounds crazy to me but has anyone else heard of this?

aint heard of any of that hun...12 weeks is way 2 early 2 tell...16 weeks is the very earliest....usually at 20 week scan we all find out..!

It says in my baby book they can tell at 12 weeks but only if there very skilled and experienced and even then they proberly wont be 100%

20 weeks scans are the usual time that everyone finds out they do say that they can never garentee (sp) that they can tell you and some places dont offer to tell you because all they are there to do is get the measurements of bubba!!

I found out at 15 weeks but was told that it was by no means 100% accurate due to it being so so early xx

I went private & i was told the earliest was 16 weeks but best to leave it 17 weeks to be safe x

I didnt think it was possible to tell the sex at the 12week scan.. and thats why everyone gets told at the 20week scan unless you have another one after 12weeks and before 20weeks.

12 Weeks is too early too tell the sex of the baby. Around 17 weeks is when your most likely too find out. When the baby is more developed & bigger.

Personaly i think that the not telling people due to the fact that they may want an abortion is going against human rights and i dunt believe in abortions! Also im pretty sure the genitals arent fully formed until after 13 weeks! So surely they cant tell you at that date?!

I just checked , Some one missinformed you hun ..
So please dont go with your hopes up , Babies external organs are not Formed enough to show any where before at least 15 1/2 weeks .
All you can see at 12 weeks is a nub , You can guess at a nub wich is babies urethera , But its a fun guess not a medical practice . You will see a very cute Baby maybe sucking thumb awwwwwww but no genitals iam afraid . xxxxxxxxx .

your baby is constantly forming and developing that continues way beyond 12 weeks!!
