27 and TTC #1

Hey everyone! This is the first time I've ever written in a forum, but I'm always searching for things, reading everyone else's posts and thought it was time I post some of my own questions.

We're on month #8... I'm on Clomid 100 mg. this cycle and it's cd 18 and still no + opk or temp shift :(

I'm so confused because I had crazy "ovulation" pains on days 13-16 and a little day 17 and today... needless to say I'm so confused. Getting bfn's are heartbreaking, but when you don't ovulate and you don't get the chance to even hope, it make for a really long wait for the next trying time.

Thinking of trying an hcg trigger shot... does anyone have any experience with them?

How long are your cycles? When do you normally OV? My cycles are around 33 days long and I typicall OV on CD19. When I took clomid for the first time I still OVed CD19, but I had stronger OV pains and higher temps due to the higher progesterone from the clomid.

I hope you get your positive OPK soon!!! :hugs:

Thanks so much for your reply! My cycles are usually about 32-33 days, so the same as yours! When I was o'ing, it was usually on days 18 or 19. The main difference this month (and the last two when I also didn't ovulate) is the lack of ewcm. I know Clomid decreases that, but not seeing much doesn't make me very hopeful. I have had some pretty intense "ovulation" pains, but still no + opk or temp rise, so I don't know what to think of the cramping. Did Clomid help make you ovulate?

Hi, lu-is! Join us! :)

Are you going to do anything to get yourself ready for ttc? I didn't, but I know some people start taking vitamins and stuff. I was taking B-complex my last couple cycles but stopped and need to start again.

We just started using Preseed (a TTC friendly lube) and I chart like a crazy person. :haha: Also, I started with soy iso (same effect as clomid apparently) and EPO (evening primrose oil - helps with CM and toning uterus for implantation). AND prenatals and folic acid (as prescribed by our RE - fertility specialist).

I've thought about getting Preseed. Heard fantastic things about it.

We love it, just don't use the recommended amount - it's way too much lube. :haha:

Hi arpeters! Seen you in a few other threads. :) I'll be 29 in 3 weeks (Yikes!!!) not sure the cycle (PCOS with very long and mostly anovulatory cycles) but we're on month 16 and just know we're getting closer to our BFP the more we try. :)

Hey there Stash - Where in CA are you located? How did you determine you had PCOS? I just came off BC (Mirena IUD) 3/4/11 but I've thought for a while now that I may have PCOS or some other thyroid problem. I've had my thyroid checked twice with no problems though...

I live in Benicia (about 30 min northeast of San Fran). I was diagnosed with PCOS in November after trying for 11 months (I was having irregular cycles, and those that were somewhat regular lasted about 40 days). They did blood tests, which found that I produced slightly more testosterone than normal (not too high just a bit high), which suppresses O. When I finally met with the RE we were referred to, I had an u/s which confirmed I had it (so officially diag. in Nov. '10). Once I found my way here, which was before I was diagnosed, I started hearing about PCOS and just had a feeling I had it since my symptoms seemed to match up. I don't have any problems with my thyroid either. Fortunately, I have a mild case of PCOS in comparison with other ladies, in that I am capable of Oing and I'm not too much overweight (for my height, I'm perfect weight, for my build I should lose about 20 pounds- basically my BMI is normal).

Yes, clomid helped me ovulate. I got a :bfn:, but I still ovulated. It helped lengthen my luteal phase from 12 days to 15 days which was great. Have you used preseed? I used that to compensate for the lack of ewcm. Keep using the OPK. I know you will OV soon. Good luck! :hugs:

Thanks! I haven't used Preseed but I see a lot of people talking about it. It doesn't actually help o happen though, right? It just makes the ewcm better if/when o happens? Is the only place to get it online?

That's pretty much me all the way! Sometimes I ovulate, sometimes I don't. Very frustrating!!! Even on Clomid this month but it hasn't seemed to make me o :( Hang in there! I'm still holding out hope that maybe I'm just going to o really late this month!

Hello ladies! I'll be 27 in August, and have been TTC for....well, a long time. Siggy says it all. -_-
I have high hopes for this year, using a wonderful, well-known, and very fertile sperm donor who has sired over thirty children! My fiancé is getting quite excited and highly anticipating the conception and birth of our first child! Before we even met, we both wanted to be parents for years. He's got over 13 years on me, so his want has been even longer.
It's been a journey, but as long as there's a payout at the end, I'll go through hell and back for it. :)

Thanks! Nice to know Im not the only one in this position, was using OPK's last month too but no positive! My Mum said some women only ovulate every second month so I thought this month Id see a positive OPK, testing since CD10 & nothing!!!! Did have EWCM though & DTD then so you never know!! But defo going to Doctor next month to find out what the story is!
Good luck, fingers crossed for you x

Hello lovely ladies! Would love to join you on this thread. I am 28 and my DH is 34 and we are on TTC#4. We had no idea it was going to take this much work but I know in the end it will be worth it. We've been together for over 2 years now...soon will be 3 years. I have no issues...just haven't been pregnant yet. We're hoping April is the month we'll see our BFP! It's so good to know that I'm not alone in the boat of being in my twenties and still have been ttc'ing aggressively after a few cycles of not seeing any success. Baby Dust to all you ladies and I look forward to walking this journey with you!

You're right. Preseed does not help O happen. It is used in place of the ewcm that you would normall have with O. I bought mine at CVS. I think Walgreens has it too. I love it! If I do not have EWCM or I do not think I have enough, I will use preseed to help the swimmers get to the egg. How are you doing in your cycle so far? :flower:

That's helpful, thanks. I had no idea I could get it at my local CVS or Walgreens. I haven't tried it before but I've heard so much about it. I may just have to purchase some. Thanks again.

Hello Girls,

Any symptoms so far?

Not holding out much hope really as I didnt get any positive OPK this month but we have been DTD every 2nd day so maybe!!!!!!
Been nausos for about 5 days now but it could be stress, just lost my job & moving house on Friday!!! Sore boobs also but that could be PMS!

How about you?

awww, thanks so much for checking in with me! I actually am cautiously optimistic right now as I just got a positive opk! The only thing is that it's that really cheap kind off of ebay, so I'm trying not to get too excited in case it's not good enough quality. But I did have my hubby take one (hahaha) and his was stark white, so hopefully I'm good!!!! :) How long have you been trying? I think you've convinced me to try some Preseed! :) I didn't know I could get it at the store! Thanks again for asking about me! Hope good news is coming your way!!!!

I will be testing April 17th which would be my 28th day but I waited to test during my last cycle all the way 'til my 28th day and I thought that was going to be the better option for me but I was heartbroken when my af came. I'm thinking that I'm going to test early this next cycle so I may be testing earlier than the 17th. I think I'll just want to find out as soon as possible if I can.
