35 and over and ltttc for baby #2 for over 2.5yrs!

Well bad news is that AF has more than definitely arrived! Although ended up not really starting properly until yesterday evening, which means that we definitely DTD at the right time and didn't miss O. Unfortunately that means as I suspected there has probably been no change in DH's sperm since he had his infection dealt with. The good news is that he is going for his SA on Tues so I guess we will hopefully be able to proceed 1 way or another. I have to admit I am super nervous of his results and what the Dr will say but from last appt he will be sent to a urologist and I will have the HSG done - I think anyway. Hopefully neither will take too long..... Super exhausted as long weekend as DS super sick but thankfully on the mend now! Hope you are all well x

Sorry AF got you.

I'd get his SA done before trying HSG, if SA means IVF is your best route, your tubes don't actually matter.
HSG only really matters is you are trying Clomid or IUI.

Hi Everyone,

I've been on this forum since I was pregnant with my son who is now 3, and I've just came across this thread and after reading all the posts think this is where I belong.

I'm 33 and my husband is 41. We have a son who we concieved first month of trying. I thought that we would fall straight away when we decided to try for #2. We did fall straight away but I had a MC at 6 weeks. I then fell again after my AF but again lost at 6 weeks. I took a few months break from trying and then when we started to try again it took 4 months to get BFP then we lost again at 6 weeks. Then again it took us months to fall and again lost at 6 weeks.

We've been trying for baby #2 for 17 months and have had 4 MC's all at 6 weeks.

I've had bloods taken and an ultra sound that confirmed I was OK after the second MC but I've changed docs now coz we've moved house and I think its time I went bak to the docs.

I just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi.

Lots of love Kay x

Hi and welcome. You have a beautiful son! I don't really know much, but reading your story I can't help but wonder if there could be some kind of immune factor. I'm so sorry you've gone through all that. :( :hugs:

@White, I"m so sorry hun. AF got me too. It sucks!!!!
I agree too that if its the sperm, then it shouldn't be you. All signs point to your husband's sperm. I'd suggest supplements to help his sperm production. Perhaps some alternative medicine's like Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture. But definitely supplements.
Could you guys afford IVF?

Hi BabyK's! Sounds to me that there's some thing that's stopping the pregnancy which could likely be hormonal. Have you drawn bloods to check your progesterone? If you don't ave enough progesterone, you'll Miscarry. There are supplements you can take for the first trimester.

Thanks everyone!
@Barbikins - I'm so sorry AF got you as well :( It really does suck.

Hi BabyK! I'm so sorry for what you have been through but you are in the right place. I agree with what the others wrote - if you haven't had your progesterone checked I would definitely get that done, but regardless a new Dr is a good idea as seems strange that you always MC at 6 weeks.... Sending hugs. We are all here for you :hugs:

AFM - Yeah I won't be getting anything done until we get the results of the SA. I'm hoping the Dr gets us in for an appt quickly once he receives the results so we can work out what to do. My day 21 blood test that I had 6 months ago was as the Dr said "perfect" and I have so many symptoms of Ovulation I do suspect the issue is unfortunately DH's sperm. I'm thinking of ordering some Fertilaid.....seems to have a good reputation and figure it can't hurt to try. Just not sure whether to order just the main stuff for DH or the other boosts as well so waiting to hear what results are. And yes I totally think he should try acupuncture. I've had it in the past and I'm a big believer in it and thankfully where we live there is a good one that does actually specialise in fertility including MFI. Plus it's certainly cheaper than fertility treatment!!

As for IVF or something along those lines I just don't think we can afford it :( We would have to pay for everything and it would just be SO much. I think we would perhaps go for a consultation to get an accurate quote but I think realistically it's not an option :(
So depressing so I hope it doesn't get to that point.

Hugs to you all. Barbikins what is next for you? Good luck to everyone else still in the running this month! :hugs:

@WOrchid, I agree with your protocol. You should get the SA results back first & go from there. IVF is very expensive & we're in the same boat. We'd have to save for about a year in order to do it.
I wonder if IUI would help at all. How long did it take to conceive your son?
There are supplements out there that I"ve heard works so its worth a shot. Plus any other supplements that can help with sperm production. Just do some online research & get on it. Remember it can take 3 months to start to take effect.

It can't be easy. I feel for you. I hope it all works out for you.

AFM, I have my HSG tomorrow afternoon. And then I have a camera test Friday where they put a camera in my uterus & see whats going on. And this month we're just DTD naturally. IF I'm not pregnant this cycle, it'll be another round of IUI with meds & progesterone next month.

Well it seems like Tuesday is when it's all happening for me, whiteorchid and barbikins. Good luck orchid hope the sa has much improved I bet your dh is nervous too. I put my dh on 2000mg vit c cuz reading online it can improve morphology by over 100% and it's relatively cheap. He's also on preconception vits with essential vits to help with sperm production. Defo look into acupuncture and yeah maybe iui would be your next step if no luck! Its a lot to think about and I think it helps to start thinking about plan b as it all takes so long to go through.
Barbi-good luck to you too. If you've not had one before just try and relax there're not that bad! I found it was the few days after were uncomfortable as I felt bloated. I'm sure all will be fine!
Hey babymam- yeah sorry too that you ended up here but the girls on here are great and such a comfort! I found it soul destroying on the other threads as everyone got their bfps so quickly. Not that I don't want it for all of you guys but it just didn't feel fair when I'd been trying for so long. So sorry for your losses defo sounds like something isn't quite right there! Have they checked for natural killer cells ( biopsy of uterus needed for this) and perhaps clotting factors? If only they can find out what's wrong then it can be treated and away you go! You have no problems getting pregnant so your not like most of us on here where we can't fall pregnant at all. So back to gp then? Yoi should get a full work up cuz you have had many early losses and insist something is done cuz your entitled to it!
Tommy- sorry what's happening in your world?
Afm - planning app at 9 in the morning so will let you know how it goes. Dh has ultrasound too to check his urinary tract after latest urine infection hoping and praying all is well with that!
Anyway much love to you all xx

Barbikins - good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you so let us know how it goes and that you are feeling ok. FX it all helps and you get your BFP this month so you don't have to go through another round of IUI.

It took us 5 months to conceive our son, of course on the month we weren't trying!! I very naively thought the second time round it would happen the first month :( I'm so worried about the test results with DH as I just don't know where to go from there but I think supplements and acupuncture would be a good start if he is willing which hopefully he will be. Thinking of you barbikins (and everyone else!) :hugs:

thanks girls!
i'm not worried about the dye test - i did the saline so I know what to expect.
i'm only worried about the camera g/c i'll have local anesthetic & so im told i'll need someone to drive me home. I dont wanna be drugged up :(
that'll make me nervous. hopefully they find nothing wrong.
or should i hope they do so there is smth to fix? i unno....lol

Good luck Isaac! (Sorry I guess you posted your message as I was writing mine so didn't see it) Thanks for all of the advice - what kind of Vitamin C did you get your DH. I've seen the strong ones but they are ones you dissolve in water - is there another type you can get that they just swallow? I'm going to wait for the time being til we get the results from the dr as think DH will be a lot more willing to try things once we know for sure what the results are.....
Anyway have to run for now but good luck to you and Barbikins for tomorrow - will wait to hear how you get on. As for us it will be a case of waiting to hear from the Dr once he has his results. I suspect we will get in faster if he asks for the appt as opposed to me just phoning and booking cause that can take 4 weeks! So will be waiting not-so-patiently by the phone at the end of the week!

:hugs:

Hope all goes ok for you Barbikins, the HSG was a walk in the park to me. Never had the other test done.

I'm positive at the moment CD 16 so dancing time! My previous femara cycles I Ov'd on days 18 and about 22. So I keep thinking my BFP could be just a couple of weeks away, I'm allowed to dream!

For BabyK'sMam, I assumed that the progesterone had been checked already. If that's not the case, definitely look into that first. The immune thing just occurred to me because it's so often overlooked at least at first. And I have a friend who is getting checked out for it due to multiple losses.

Anyway, wishing you the best. Sometimes you just gotta vent and you aren't necessarily looking for "answers," so I hope I don't come across the wrong way.

GOOD LUCK! All the ladies with Tuesday appts! Thinking of you all, hope you can update us when you get a chance.

Tommy, GL with the BDing. :dust:

AFM, I'm 5 dpo. It's a boring time in the TWW. Gonna try to wait until at least the 14th to test. Which may be a bad idea since I'm going to visit a friend that day with a little girl younger than my DD and she just had her DD#2. They are almost exactly 2 years apart, and mine would have been almost exactly 2 years apart also (in my heart, the one I lost was a girl, but I guess I don't know). So while I'm completely happy for her, and I really do want to see her, and our girls will have fun playing.... I'm expecting it to be a hard day for me. :( But I have another week to gear myself up for it.

Hiya girls! Well what an exhausting day and it's nearly light out time for us but just wanted to quickly let you know that all went really well today! Hubbies renal scan didn't show anything abnormal thankgod so hopefully that will be the end of his urinary problems! Planning appointment was also good lasted an hour signing consent forms etc! We can go straight ahead as soon as af arrives in approx 12 days yikes!
Hoping all you girls are ok must go to sleep now it's been a stressful day in a good way, , catch up tomoz xx

Great news Isaac!! So what is the next step - what will you be trying first?
Barbikins - hope you got on well as well!
I'm still waiting to hear from DH that all went ok!!! Sure it did though and now just a case of waiting to get appt with Dr for results!

Hope the rest of you are all doing well x

Barbikins how did you get on? hope you are feeling ok.
White hope you get a pleasent surprize with his results.
Issac good that you are moving forward. What are you trying first?

Eyemum I'm joining you in the 2ww, had a +opk yesterday morning and my boobs are telling me I've ovulated. Just realised your little girl is the same age as my son.

Hey Tommy me you and eyemom are all in the tww good luck hun! I'm 4dpo today and have had tender boobs since before ovulation until today now they are settling down abit. Think it's gonna be a bad pms month for me as I have dull cramps and fatigue!
So next step for us is iui with injectables starting from next period in approx 12 days. Start infections on cd 2 for 7 days then scan and go from there. When follie/s are big enough I'll have a trigger shot then go for insemination 40hrs after. Excited but scared at the same time
Orchid- Be sure to let us know your dh's results as soon as you know, praying they have improved!
Barbikins how did hsg go hope it wasn't painful? Xx

Ok so I just got home from shopping to a message on the answer phone from Dr's office asking for DH to call. Totally worried now that there has obviously been no improvement with his SA as it was less than 24 hours ago that he gave it and he obviously wants to see him

Hugs hunni, fingers crossed they can do something for him/ you.
