4 and a half month old crawling already, is this possible?

Id say yes. Mine weren't crawling but they could get around in other ways, eg rolling, wiggling etc

Harry pushes himself around on his face, no crawling but he's trying!

Crazy!! Thomas can't roll either so I can't even imagine him crawling. Wow.

It is possible, my niece crawled very early and was walking by 9 months. My youngest still doesn't roll, but she sits on her own and I suspect she will be crawling within the month. She is constantly trying and is also pulling herself up on stuff. I think she face planted at least 5 times today. She just doesn't see the need to roll. Lol. She can also sit herself up from her tummy all by herself.

Aww some people are so rude and jealous by the replies here, outright accusing people of lying or exaggerating :-(

All babies are different and do things at their own rate whether that's super early or a bit later than usual!

Yes, its possible. My Mom had a friend whose son walked at 5 months. Her 2nd walked at 5.5 months. Thats my moms word. Sounds unbelievable!

I'd more believe that the LO commando crawled then proper crawled. I have a friend that tells everyone her 2.5 month old can crawl...surprise surprise he's never actually done it in front of anyone :haha:

Every baby develops at different rates, James was attempting to crawl at 5 months and has now given up at 9.5 months an has taken to bum shuffling instead. I'm not too worried as he seems to be ahead in "babbling" and can say a few words.

i think roman will crawl early. he can roll onto his side

Never accused anyone of lying at all. I just think people have different definitions of what crawling is (as others have said too). I also stand by the exaggerating part as I know that people do think that they have to make out their children are advanced. It's like they think physical development is the same as mental development (ie., intelligence).

I think it can make others feel that their children are behind and worry them, which is unfair. As a psychologist who has published in journals concerning child psychology I am knowledgeable about this issue. So please do not accuse me of saying others are lying. But you have supported my point that mums do exaggerate!!!!!!!

Cam was a late crawler. But in the space of a few weeks then started to walk so all after doing nothing for months he developed fast after that. All babies are different i think it might be possible i dunno not been in that position just dont make yourself feel bad by comparing babies

Yes its possible. Isobel started rolling both ways just before 4 months which the hv said was quite early, and she started commando crawling immediately. She did her first "real" all fours crawl at exactly 6 months but I have heard of 4 month olds crawling.

Please don't worry though as its advanced to crawl that early, not normal, and a 4 month who doesn't roll is completely normal. Some of my mum and baby friends were worried when Isobel got mobile and their 5 and 6 month olds weren't rolling yet and didn't like tummy time. Fast forward to 9 months and they're all catching up at their own rate.

They all do things at different times. Isobel has only just started babbling in the last week or so, but her younger friend has been saying mama for weeks.

funny enough my baby just rolled from front to back for very first time today, 15 days away from being 5 months old!

Nope, stuck on his back still... he almost goes onto his side though... hates tummytime, just gets so angry and then lies flat on his face lol

he can move about the playmat by wiggling and flapping about but i don't think he means to.

My LO crawled at 5 months, it was commando though as I don't think they've got the coordination skills at this stage to move in all fours
