Ladies I know lots of you's have ordered this for Christmas for your LO's just wanted to give a little bit of info for you...when the batteries run out in the wee train you'll need to buy a pack of the ELC batteries for it no other type will work seriously I've had the train sitting for over 6 months thinking LO had broken it and went instore today and asked and the lady told me only their batteries work in it and tried it there and then and it worked!!:wohoo: apparently Duracell batteries arnt strong enough for their toys with moving parts...I was trying the ultra ones  but yeah we now have a working happyland train set again and a happy toddler! On the bad side I also had to get a new watch battery today and it cost me 19.95!!!

is that why they included a pack of 4 elc batteries with my order? I was wondering! I just thought they were being nice lol

thats weird

& i got no free batteries!

I got no free batteries either! Grrrr...

Are you sure, I got my son the happy land train set for his 1st birthday and i can't remember it coming with any batteries and we put some in (we've never bought elc batteries either) We only use rechargeable batteries though so maybe they are stronger?

Can you just find these batteries on the website?! How odd! xx

Does this apply to all Happyland sets?

Cx

I remember buying a bubble machine in the summer and the woman at the till made me.buy their batteries because she said others like duracel etc are too strong for it. Seemed very odd at the time, still does lol!

Rechargable batteries are probably stronger so probably work but yeah we couldn't get ours to work when the batteries that came with it died and then today for whatever reason I decided to take it into store as I wasn't happy after trying again with duracell ultra batteries and the woman said that only works with our batteries ripped open a pack and put two in and it worked fine.

It's the older red and black train we have (know they have a slightly newer one out now thats red and blue)

I have got my DS the older version for Christmas. Thanks for the info

Thanks for the heads up hun as we have the train set for christmas too x

we have the older train set and we can use any batteries (even poundland :) ) seems strange that they would only work with their own batteries!

Same

Although the Tescos own ones last about 20 mins and then it dies lol!

i also find it bad that it doesnt state that u need to use their own batteries - it just says 2x AA batteries! x

Weird maybe it was like a certain batch or something like that. Don't know why ours wouldn't work with any other type and why the woman instore said that they only work with their batteries

We have the happyland train and use rechargeable batteries from the pound shop. Works fine

I'm an elc manager and yes normal low powered batteries work best in our toys! Energiser and duracell are too powerful and stop most of our toys working to their best potential. We can't obviously advertise this (legal jargon) but from 5 years experience its true. Doesn't have to be ours (although we'd prefer that of course) boots/tesco/superdrug... Anyone else's own make batteries are fine!
And you were lucky to get free batteries sarahchops. Its not the norm!

is it just some then because i can use duracell in our one too? just wondering because iv bought some stuff from elc that needs batteries for xmas so need to stock up lol x
