tacky? very. Slutty and adult? No.

yeah, 20 year olds walk around in neon green squined trousers all the time.

Are you saying there's a problem with green sequinned trousers? They flatter my bum... that's a whooole other debate lol

Those 'glitz' pics are HIGHLY edited, lol.

theyre horrid though, i agree.

These by the way were all from different FB pages supporting child pageantry which leads me to believe this is the "norm".

I dont find the swimwear that skimpy, i'd prob put it on amelie to go swimming. Probably not for a pageant but hey ho!

I wouldnt put my girls in a bikini like that to go swimming, they are young and thats why they have Peppa Pig costumes... I shall stick to those

my son wears more to go swimming then those girls!

Meh, I'd still much prefer my child to do pageants than hunting or boxing.

This is nothing to do with hunting or boxing... this is about whether we are for or against beauty pageants.. I'd rather my child do none of the above..

Well tbh, people were going on about competition and it being wrong to compete. I personally have the same view as novsmum. We compete for things everyday in life  Theres nothing wrong with a child experiencing both the winning and losing side of life.

Competition is not something that is positive really. Children are so young and for them to experience "losing" is equivalent for them being told that they are inferior in whatever it is they are losing at. Why would anyone want their child to experience a feeling of inferiority?

Thought process of people who compete -
1. I won the contest, I am the BEST looking.
2. I have to keep being the best looking. (extreme emasures are adopted here to maintain the status cue spray tans etc
3. If I am not the best looking, what will I be? (sense of purpose based entirely on their "best-looking ness)
4. Oh no, she won over me. Now I am not the best looking. My world has shattered. Now I have to look for something else to be the BEST at. (repeat sections 1-4 over and over again)

After doing this cycle a few times, the adult (as I am sure this realization will only come in adulthood for most) will have to relearn that wait a minute,
- We are all equal
- I am better than no one, and no one is better than me

I mean, c'mon, why put your child through that? We all go on about the sexualization of children via clothing, media etc and people still think it ok to parade children, (the way they parade animals at farm shows etc) and teach them that the most important thing is their looks, and more than that they have to be BETTER than someone else?

How old is she??? All of about 8/9/10??? Thats what most pageants are like..

whoa! She is scary looking! :argh: No way I'd want my daughter looking like that! Eeeek!
No way I'd want my daughter wearing green sequined trousers either... child or adult I wouldn't let her out the house in them! :haha: (KittyVentura I'm sure you look HOT in yours)

I wouldn't put my child in a pagent. I don't think it's good for kids... though I also don't think a little competition is bad (just not in that way).

I'm curious... where are you all getting these pictures? What really freaks me out is that they're so available... I mean, do these mothers realize that more than likely there are sick men looking at those photos?

TBH I was scrolling very quickly through the thread as I couldn't stomach the pics. I found it weird to look at them.

I googled mine.. I just wanted to get a pic to show that some of these pageants are like what we are saying. They are readily available for anyone to view.. Not good at all :nope:

bit ironic really since i'm sure pretty much all of us have posted pics of our children in here.. whats the difference?

maybe because our children are posted all over google dressed up like a dogs dinner lol

I am canny with my pics and I try not to post on forums, I do RARLY but they are normally side on views of my kids etc. Thats just me though. I wouldnt dress my daughter up like that. EVER.

I would let River enter a competition like that if she wanted too but no way would she be allowed to dress like the majority of them. They have natural ones in the US too i think?

The sort of pagents being talked about in this thread are inappropriate, little girls shouldn't be wearing fake tan and have extensions. A little bit of lip gloss and maybe curls (rag curls or plaits) would be it for me.

Competition in its self isnt a bad thing but if the parents are putting too much emphasise on looks then its wrong IMO.
