annual holiday how to add to mat leave

Hi any advice would be much appreciated, i have 5 weeks annual holiday left and am going on mat leave 10th december ive notified my employer about this but now i want to add my 5 weeks to the mat leave so i would leave work 5th november, am i allowed to do this as im entitled to my holidays? and are there any template letters available for this? thanks reading, any replies much appreciated, x

your employer has to give your leave but it's a grey area when it comes to allowing you to roll over the holidays into the next holiday year so taking them before you go on maternity leave makes sense.
I wrote a letter to my boss stating when I wanted maternity leave (ML) then asked if I could take the 2 weeks prior as part of my holiday leave entitlement.
If you have already told your employer your ML start date you can change it as long as you give 28 days notice.

As embob says they legally have to gve you your holiday entitlement. do yours run jan-dec or some other time like april to april?

To be honest as its October he is probably expecting it though your cutting it close if you want to start in 2-3 weeks.
