Hello all! I weigh in at about 180lbs(before conceiving) and 5'3 so doctors say i am obese. Before conceiving i was thinking on going on a diet but not any longer.

Going for my diabetes test on the 10th Nov, and hoping all is well for that part.
Was going to have to stay at doc's office for a hour after drinking the drink but asked for the drink to bring home and drink before going to appt :happydance: i am happy about that i can not stand waiting somewhere on a uncomfortable chair :haha: I have to say looking at the drink it does look good lol but i am guessing its not so yummy.

Ladies can I have a wee brag, 3 pounds on so far, and lots of that is boobage. Lol.

Does that sound good ?

Aw sorry to hear that love :-(

Glad to hear she is growing well though!!!

steph - sounds really good to me, well done!!

Welcome to the club lilangele - I've got my diabetes test on Monday up at the hospital - got my mum going with me so I don't have to sit on my own all that time lol.

I'm amazed that I weighed myself yesterday and actually am at the exact weight I was when I got my BFP (lowest weight in over a year too).
Thing is, I only throw up when my stomach is empty, and I eat ALL the time... like I have to eat every hour!
Lol.. the laws of science/physics etc just aren't adding up here!!! ;)

I was up 2lbs a week or two ago... so I'm glad its fluctuating down now!

Lisaf - the baby makes your metabolism higher/faster. I'm eating like it's going out of fashion (which, technically given the size 0 trend, I suppose it has) and I'm not sure I'm putting on anything. When I weigh myself I don't appear to have. Then again, I'm so rubbish at weighing myself that I probably wouldn't notice if I put on a stone.

hehe, so how do I get this metabolism thing to keep up AFTER the baby is born?

Hey everyone :hi:

im a lurker so thought it was about time i said hello!!

ladies i'm a size uk 24/26 do you think if i buy and angelsounds doppler it will work on me dont wanna buy one if it wont work through my fat

hi foxiroxi....

laura, I was wearing 22 top and 24 bottoms, and my doppler worked fine!

Hiya foxyroxy.

Lisaf - I believe I have found the answer to how to keep the metabolism going after birth, breastfeeding. Apparently (given 24hrs of research, during which I was asleep for about 8 of them, at work for another 7 and travelling/eating for another 2 - so technically a maximum of about 7 hrs but more accurately about 30 mins) breastfeeding requires the energy you consume to make the milk, which takes nutrients/fats etc from your body - therefore speeding up the metabolism. Also it contracts the uterus, helping you to lose baby bump quicker. Tada - I feel like a virtual fount of knowledge. Now if I can just keep up the illusion......

LittleMrs... my mom said out of her 3 kids, I was the only one she lost weight with while breastfeeding... that I just sucked her dry :haha:
Unfortunately I have a medication conflict with BFing and may only be able to do it for a few weeks... which hopefully will at least get the important stuff across to the baby but will also help me a little bit with the uterus thing.

I was sort of ideally considering pumping and dumping, just for the weight loss benefit ... but of course I never really thought that through and its too much work to pump AND FF... plus pumping at work etc... just not going to work well :dohh:

Hi Ladies,

Please please can I join you all. I've just found out that I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby, I've been pregnant before this but all sadly ended in early m/c's.

I am the heaviest I have ever been of a BMI of 40+ I was 30+ with my last pregnancy so no health problems. I was going to start a diet for Christmas then found out I had a shock BFP I'm so worried though because of my weight and health issues that I may have.

I'm scared to go to the Doctors and midwives appointments because of the scales everyone is going to mention how much weight I have gained since having my baby, then the scans all my weight in on my stomache so I'm dreading that.

We want this baby more then anything as we have suffered in the past but I feel that if anything happens now to it it's all my fault for been so overweight.

Any tips?
x

Hi love, welcome to the club!

First of all - don't panic!

My bmi was 43 when I got pregnant and no-one has made any comment about my weight or been negative in any way. Of course I have been referred to a consultant, booked in for a gtt and had an appointment with the anaesthatist, but these are all standard practice.

I have had absolutely no problems so far during my pregnancy, apart from fairly bad morning sickness until about 22wks - which could happen to anyone - and have found that my appetite has been greatly reduced.

In fact I just feel like I have been pretty much left to get on with things!!!

There has been so much scare mongering in the news recently about overweight women who get pregnant and the risks, but if you have a look through these forums there are just as many "skinny" women - if not more - who suffer problems than those of us who are bigger!

I started this thread when I first got my bfp and it has been such a comfort to me knowing there are other women going through the same things as me, who understand how I feel about my weight.

The way I look at it I have NEVER had any weight related problems, never been on any long term medication and the only operation I have had is my tonsils out when I was 13 - so I haven't been a drain on the NHS and why should this change just because I'm pregnant? And if I do need medical intervention then I pay my taxes and national insurance like everyone else!!!!!

I really hope that you have a positive pregnancy and if you come across someone who is rude or unhelpful - stand up for yourself and ask not to see them again!

Don't forget we are here anytime you want to rant or chat xxxxxx
