Anyone been to Thomas land at Christmas?

Thomas land is brilliant and its a great day out all round as if you have older children too there are great rides for them there.
The only downside to our day at Christmas time was the whole Santa bit. We arrived at our allotted time several minutes early. We had to wait until exactly dead on 3 to be able to get into the queue. We then proceeded to queue for over an hour and a half in drizzling rain without any toilet facilities along the way. The kids were pretty miserable waiting for so long and the tone of everyone around us by the end was barely Christmassy or happy. They were however bowled over the santa, the room was magnificent and the man himself very convincing, its obvious the part has put a lot of effort into selecting their santas and room dressing. but both were a little underwhelmed with the 'bell gift' not that they were ungrateful or anything but because neither of them knew what it was- it was a christmas tree decoration. They still put it on the tree. We probably wouldnt do the santa bit again because it was almost time to go home by the time we got out and the kids were grumpy, that said the rain probably added to the frustration.

Thanks everyone. We ended up not booking santa as otherwise we wouldn't see the fireworks and we're going in a group and the majority wanted to see fireworks over santa. I'm a bit sad were not seeing him but if we don't mention it ds won't even realise he's there. Really excited for it now. We've not told ds, can't wait to see his face.
