Anyone else on 1st Clomid round?

Hi all,

I'm 36 y/o and just started a cycle with Clomid 100mg. I have pcos and been pregnant 2x mc's at 7 & & weeks which was devastating. I gave up hope for many years and decided I can't give up so here I'm again trying. I'm so nervous and hope that this works. I go back to see my doctor later this week for an ultrasound and blood work. I have a question should I use an OPK as well? If so what brand do you use?? Oh, I forgot to mention I'm on CD 9. Did anyone have any side effects from Clomid? Today I'm feeling a little weepy and down but nothing else big time. Any advice is welcome as well as any success stories!!

Hi buttercup!
I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I'm sure it can't be easy to move forward after a loss

I had major migraines and hot flashes on the 50mg so I can only suspect that the 100 will be worse. I won't be starting that till Sunday though (cd 3-7). Those side affects lasted for about a week and finally disappeared.
I'm a little jealous that you had no side affects. I find it funny how everyone reacts different to the same drug.

Thanks Minuet. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I actually ovulate. How crazy would it be if this is the month for both of us?!

It'd be totally crazy! What did you find out at the scan?

AFM- AF is due Sunday. I'm praying for a bfp so I can skip over these next steps. I get nervous and anxious lol. I'm not scared of the test really, just scared that I have a blocked tube or something and that's why I haven't gotten my bfp. I have heard the same thing about the HSG test helping women get pregnant so hopefully that's what happens if I don't get my bfp before the test. Hope you ladies are all doing well.

Hopeful I really hope you get that lovely BFP hon!

Buttercup I am so sorry about your losses, this TTC stuff is just the hardest process ever. :(
I'd definitely encourage you to use OPKs and chart your temperature. Charting shows whether you truly ovulated at any point or not, while OPKS let you know that your body is trying to ovulate.
The problem with PCOS is that we can gear up to ovulate and never do so - which is why I chart. It shows that I never actually ovulate - hence the Clomid. :)
For OPKs, I've been using cheapies from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Combo-Ovulation-Pregnancy-Test-Strips/dp/B0026995KO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1406413728&sr=8-2&keywords=wondfo+ovulation+test+strips

If I ever get a positive on the cheap ones, then I'll be confirming with Clearblue https://www.amazon.com/Clearblue-Digital-Ovulation-Test-Count/dp/B002VLYAOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406413771&sr=8-1&keywords=clearblue+ovulation+test+strips

We can't afford the fancy ones to use every day, so the cheapies make it affordable, and then I can make myself feel better by confirming with a fancy test.

You're only a couple cycle days behind me, I'm CD11. :) I had nausea, vivid crazy dreams, a couple headaches, but otherwise no symptoms. I've been lucky, but it also has me wondering if there are no symptoms because the Clomid isn't doing anything!

You'll have to let us know the results of your ultrasound and how many follicles they see! :)

Hi MnGmakes!

Thanks. I'm ok with not feeling the side effects, just as long as it's working!😄 . Ok, that's cool our cycles are pretty close. Good luck and hopefully we all get our BFP's very soon!!!x

Hi,
Thank you for that information and the wonderful ideas!! I'm headed to Amazon now . My appointment is on Thursday, cd14 and I will surely let you know my results! Good luck with your cycle, and hopefully we all get our BFP's very soon! Thanks again!

Hi everyone,

So today was supposed to be the first day of my period, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, it actually came on time (it's usually a couple days late). I'm highly disappointed because I really felt that this was it. Maybe I wanted it so bad that I swear I was even having early symptoms. So yeah, I'm feeling really down. Switching gyno's tomorrow, going to an official fertility clinic. They have a high success rate so I"m wishing for the best. Hope all is well with everyone and that you all are having more success than me. The only thing about switching to this new dr is that she said she would take me off clomid because she'd want to see first if anything was wrong with hubby's sperm and such first. ...but.....I think I'm still going to take it...is that bad? I just feel like I don't have time to waste. Just want to do whatever is going to work. This would be my 3rd round of clomid and I'd be starting it on Friday. Still at 50mg. I can fulfill the prescription because the dr had initially given me 5 rounds. What do you guys think?

You should NEVER take clomid without your spouse being checked out first. Did your doctor never have a sperm analysis done on him?
Clomid is not something to be taken lightly and if the problem is with him, not you, why use it?
I would wait until your DH has had a sperm analysis. Clomid is only supposed to be used 6 months max, you don't want to waste rounds!
Also, if you are still only at 50mg she might decide to up the dose and see how that works. If you can get in early and have his SA done quickly you could still always try the Clomid this cycle.
Just don't BD, they're supposed to abstain for at least 3 days before doing a sperm analysis.

The only symptoms I had with clomid (50mg) were the occasional hot flush and that feeling of a headache coming but just never arrived. I did feel a bit "flat" for a couple of days, not depressed or anything, just a bit unenthused ha ha.
I'd say going to see a fertility specialist is a good idea. Especially if there does end up being something wrong, it just means you can cover all your options instead of seeing your GP then having to be hand balled to a specialist later down the track.
Handy if you find one that you can still use as your doc once you get pregnant too.
I'm due to ovulate today or tomorrow(had to have a trigger shot this morning), so I'm CD12. I usually ovulate around CD11 or 12 anyway so that's not too big a difference:)
The only "difference" is I will have 3 mature eggs! Let's hope we only get one.... Maybe 2......but 1 I'm happy with ha ha.

Good luck to everyone and let's try and not stress during the tww;)

Morning.

So I started with the 100mg last night and didn't wake up to any hot flashes or migraines. Hopefully I'll last the work day with no symptoms. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Hi May112
I truly understand disappointment, and the whole ttc process can be overwhelming but you don't want to do anything that may cause other issues, please be safe and I wish you lots of luck and hope you get your BFP very soon!x

Hi May,
I agree with buttercup. . This whole process gets very trying. At times I find myself questioning if I want to move on the next month.
Good luck to you hun! I hope your bfp comes soon!

Good luck MnGmakes!!

I'm definitely feeling some symptoms, bloated and full. I really feel it when bending over, so I guess it's a sign that Clomid is working, I sure hope so. I also feel a little on edge today. I absolutely hate Metformin.

Does anyone take Metformin and have issues tolerating it? If so, do you have any suggestions to make it easier to tolerate? Sometimes I end up being sick for a day or two because of it- stomach issues :( and terrible headaches.

Morning.

So I started with the 100mg last night and didn't wake up to any hot flashes or migraines. Hopefully I'll last the work day with no symptoms. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Hi! I am about to start my first round of clomid.. unfortunately I am having to take provera to Jumpstart af. I'm eager to see how things go for you.

Why were you prescribed clomid?

I have had the most irregular cycle my whole life. I have maybe 3 periods a year. Apparently i am one of the unlucky ones who just almost never ovulates which makes conception virtually impossible!

I hope you get a lucky first round!

This is exactly me! I am starting Provera today to jumpstart things too, and then will start Clomid for the first time
I have had a terribly irregular cycle my entire life also with rare periods, and so far as I know have never ovulated.

I also started taking Provera 3 days ago. Got another 9 days to go then we start clomid for the first time ever!!! We have been advised to take from day 2-6. I'm so excited! But nervous too! Been TTC for over 2 years now.!! Fx for you! Xx

Thanks! I hope the Clomid works the first time for you. After waiting so long it is hard to wait and see if Clomid will even do anything.

Hi ladies. How's everyone doing?

I'm happy to say I had next to no symptoms on the 100mg.
I took them about 2 hours before bed and didn't notice a thing. Even the hot flashes only happened about 3x. I did have that severe pain in my legs that continued for a few days but it's gone note. Yay!
Just waiting for O to come around any day now :happydance:

Hi MnGmakes3!

Good to hear your are back on the ttc road again!! Wow, I didn't know one of the SE of Clomid was leg pain! Hope it's not too bad. Wishing you lots of luck tho cycle!!

As for me, I'm 2dpo and feel ok, some hot flashes and I'm tired...so much bd'ing ;) Not much cramping like yesterday and I'm still a little bloated though. I'm looking forward to going home and plan to relax.

Hope this this is all of our months for those BFP's! :)

AFM, I've been having ovary pain the last few days and wondering if it was a cyst or follicles, but this afternoon I got a big fat positive opk!!
So shocked that 50mg actually worked! This is CD21 for me so I was sure this cycle was a bust, but we actually have a shot at getting pregnant! :happydance:

I hope you get a good ovulation sooner than later!
