Has anyone heard of not taking vitex and clomid together? I just ordered some on amazon and now I'm finding stuff that you're not supposed to. Argh!
Nope. Nothing else was offered to me. I wish I had p4 testing before to know what the difference was bw cycles. I feel like I'm going in blind into this whole "unexplained fertility" thing
Perhaps I'll call the OB office tomorrow and ask why they didn't notice the low levels before.. I've only had bloodwork ...ummm..5ish times and to me that's more than enough.
Though now that i think of it, I dont have pcos or anything else like that so it could be why.

Did I miss a test? Did you test low on progesterone?

Yes you can't take them together, they cancel each other out. Vitex is supposed to work on your hormones to even them out, while Clomid is designed to get estrogen into hyperdrive. Definitely don't want them together!
You didn't miss anything. It was the cd21 bloodwork. My p4 was a 15. I think I mentioned it in a previous thread. Anyway, OB said it was good but not good enough to show a strong O, which is why the clomid is being upped. I'd much rather try natural supplements first but from what minuet posted I guess it's too late.
Maybe next month I'll take a break from the clomid and go the vitez, coq10 route.
This is all so emotionally draining. Am I the only one that feels that way?

Honestly, I think you should stick with the Clomid and try it at least three times, as most women get pregnant in the first three rounds. I know you are having rough side effects, but it has a good track record for success.
It is clearly working for you, as you still ovulated. 100mg should do the trick to give a stronger ovulation, and you could always ask about doing a trigger shot which can help.
Vitex would not be a good idea for you to try, since you have perfect cycles on your own. Vitex is for smoothing out hormonal issues, and if you already cycle on your own it will only screw you up.
Vitex takes months to build up in your system to be effective anyway. I have PCOS and tried it for a year, it never did anything.
If you want to try something more natural you could try soy isoflavones. They are called nature's clomid since they work the same way as clomid - and many women have babies from soy. It's worth checking into when you want to take a break from Clomid.
To be honest, trying Clomid is giving me something positive to think about. I have been heartbroken over this issue for years, and to finally, finally be able to try something that can work - you have no idea how that feels. It feels like I have a chance at a dream that was dashed so many times.
Don't give up hope, you have a lot going for you with a body that actually works well. All you need is something to give your body an extra push, and Clomid should do that for you.
Also, when you had your progesterone checked, do you know for sure that it was 7 days after ovulation? Many doctors just do it on day 21, which is rarely 7 days after ovulation. If it wasn't done on 7dpo, then your numbers will be off and your progesterone could have been higher or lower.
Min, you are so sweet!
My O was exactly cd14 so her telling me cd21 was spot on! I've Od within a 2 to 3 day window before but this month couldn't have worked out better!
I know what you mean about having something that finally works. I feel like I spent a year giving blood and doing tests just to find this now. . Better late then never I guess *sigh
Thank you for all the Vitex info too!
I did stop for some folic acid, B- complex and Vit C because I don't exactly have the best eating habits and I figure vitamins couldn't hurt. I just have to remember to take them ..maybe if someone reminds me, with 3 alarms, a messenger owl, pony express and skywriting.
