Just trying to get my head around maternity leave and tax credits. It was relatively easy to calculate last time as I started my maternity not long after the new tax year.
I returned to work in April 2014 after 9 Months maternity and informed tax credits of my usual income for the year ahead (I provided income for 2013-2014 while I was on maternity leave so got a some tax credits while I was actually on maternity leave rather than the following year if that makes sense). I am now due to start maternity leave again on 30th December 2014. So It will be split over 2 tax years If I take 9 months? I've been back at work long enough to be entitied to maternity leave according to he guidelines. Do I just ring up when maternity leave starts and tell them my new calculated income from April 2014-2015? I did it all on he forms last time but thought it might be easier to do it over the phone this time. After writing all this down I'm thinking it might not be too confusing actually as it's not 2 maternity leaves in 1 tax year? Lol...too early to be thinking about this at 8am ☺️
Will I be entitled to tax credits as thinking about it my 2014-2015 income will be more than my 2013-2014 income as I will only have 3 months maternity leave in this tax year compared to 9 months maternity in the last tax year so effectively I'll have earned more this year?! Mind explosion trying to figure this out 😳
