Anyone had tests on nhs??

Update on my testing- I had an appointment with my GP this morning about my irregular cycles since going off the pill in July. Because of the normal blood work I had a few months ago, she seems to think I'm ok and my body is still 'regulating' but she's ordered Day 21 bloods and also referred me for a trans-vaginal scan at the hospital which I have on Tuesday. I'm glad things seem to be moving quickly!

Has anyone had Day 21 bloods without doing Day 3 ones too? I've only heard of them both being done so there's a comparison, but I guess they can tell if you've ovulated based on the level you get on Day 21?

I had my Day 21 bloods done without Day 3...then I had to have them done again because I have short cycles and by Day 21 all the progesterone starts fading so the doc wasn't sure if I had ovulated. I had them on Day 18 or 19 and got a better result. Then when I went to the FS, he ordered the Day 3 bloods to check my AMH and FSH properly.

I heard that it takes 3 months to
Improve sperm quality so surely it takes 3 months to rescue sperm quality... If this is the case then perhaps it doesn't matter for ur oh sperm quality after the stag weekend!!

That's a good attitude to have.... It wasn't our time... I think throughout this process us ladies need to remain positive and patient (I am the most inpatient person and I think the reason why this process is taking longer than normal is because I'm beinb learnt a life lesson... Everything happens for a reason). You will have a baby though, but it's taking a little longer

No I haven't been diagnosed yet... Apparently I will recieve a letter and prescription... But my next appointment at the FS is in April... I asked today if there was an earlier appointment and told that I'm lucky to have April as there are appointments being made for July!!
I've done some reading on clomid too.., it's mixed messages... Some say it has pushed them to fall, others say that it hasn't made much difference.

Xx

You're right about the mixed messages on Clomid, but I hope it works for you! (The mixed reviews is why the NICE guidelines changed to say the FS shouldn't recommend it straight away for unexplained IF)

I'm so jealous! I wish my FS would prescribe me Clomid. But I'm happy to be doing the IUI. I'm really hoping it works. :)

April seems so far away, but it'll be here before you know it and hopefully you won't even need that appointment. :)

Can't remember what I last updated on here but IUI #1 was a bust :(

AF started today so just waiting for my new schedule and prescription for more Norethisterone before we try again.

Glad the HSG went well han.

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I hope IUI #2 is the one that works for you!

Thanks for the info! I usually have long cycles- if I am ovulating it seems to be around CD16-18 so hopefully they'll catch it!

Hey guys, how r you all? Good weekend?
I wondered if anyone who has had a hsg could help... I had it on Wednesday and had bleeding for a day max... But this afternoon I've got a little stomach cramps and I'm bleeding like a normal period... Does anyone know if that's normal??

Help!

Hi han! How are you doing?

I only spotted after the initial HSG and it was barely anything. It sounds a little strange that you're bleeding again now. Have you BD'd lately? Maybe things are irritated in there? If it goes on for too long, I might call your GP, just to make sure all is well.

Hey Ella,
I called the FS this morning as it got heavier and heavier over night, apparently it's normal!! Im bleeding all today too, she said it may be my lining.
Thank u for ur concern!!:)

I've got to call again tomorrow if I'm still bleeding heavily!! Just soo annoying because I've heard that the months after ur hsg can be quite good for concieving!! Never mind!!

How r u doing anyway? Xx

I'm glad it's normal and nothing to be too worried about. I hope it stops soon though. Here's hoping you get to make your post-HSG sticky baby soon!

Me? I am absolutely bricking it. So, DH asked a few weeks ago when would it be okay for him to go out of town. I said this week and maybe next week, this week being the best. But, he couldn't do this week and decided on the next one. I figured that was okay...Then, I ovulated WAYYYY early (CD9), which changed when I'm due on...Good for starting the IUI earlier, terrible for the timing of DH's trip/IUI because now I'm worried about ovulating early next cycle too.

So now I'm crapping my pants worrying about if he's going to be away when I need him the most, if you know what I mean. If AF stays away until Friday, we should be okay...but I've got to make it to Friday and I'm a little worried about that. And I'm not even sure if we'll get any pre-IUI BDing in at this point. Ugh. I'm sure it will work out...I hope. I guess we'll see.

I still haven't stopped bleeding but it's slowed down! This is longer than my usual period... Don't know whether to call the fertility specialist again just to check this is right!! Argh, I hate this :(

Oh how r u doing? Any period pains? Fingers crossed u don't come on until tomorrow!!
Exciting to be starting this next phase though :)

Still bleeding? Do you think your period just came early this month because of the HSG? I'm glad it's slowed down though. It's so strange...if it does keep up, I would call again, just to make sure it is still normal....

Well, AF is definitely coming, but she's holding fire for now. Had some period pains this morning, but they faded pretty quickly, so it looks like I've made it. Whew. The last couple of days have been so stressful because all those little signs that tell me AF is coming kept popping up. But I finally could take a breath today, well, after the cramps faded.

The most exciting part of my day? I went to ASDA to buy my fertility drugs and they were half as much as I was expecting. :happydance: Actually, moving forward in our treatment made me feel like :happydance:. Things are finally happening!

My Clomid was only like a £1.50 and the Ovitrelle was only £37, which was a surprise because the nurse quoted me a lot more when she was telling me about prices. I didn't mind not having to pay so much for everything. Extra money for me this month!

Hey Ella,
Called the fertility clinic yesterday and spoke to the nurse she can't say it's normal but she just kept on saying u have stopped bleeding now which is a good thing (I stop Thursday evening). I have asked if I could move my April appointment earlier but there's nothing available and as my next period is supposed to come next Friday she will push for my prescription of clinic out the door.
I questioned why they are putting me on clomid when my ovulation test results have been so high, she couldn't say why as she doesn't have my file. I should receive my prescription and letter hopefully next week.
This might sound like a stupid question but u said u went to asda to get ur fertility meds... Do they have clomid over the counter then?? Or how does it work!? Do u have to take clomid day 2-6 too? My period is due next Friday / Saturday but I may not have a period this month because my uterus lining has already shredded due to the hsg! Although technically I will still ovulate in 3 weeks do u think I could still take clomid?

Brill news about ur period! Are u on now? What's the next steps for u? Ii feel so sad when my period comes but after it goes I feel so positive and excited because I hope this month might be the month for u- do u feel that way?

What is ovutrelle?

Xxx

Wondering if any of you ladies can help me. We have been having tests on the nhs and so far all okay with me but dh has greatly increased viscosity on semen analysis also causing low volume and poor motility. Anyone have any information or experience with this? Because Dr spoke to dh on own he didn't ask any question at all!

Hey ladders
Have a look at this https://m.wisegeek.com/what-factors-affect-semen-viscosity.htm
From what I've read ur dh may have to drink more water and reduce on the coffee etc...
I hope that helps. Is this his first SA?

Hey han! I'm so glad the bleeding stopped! I'm glad your clinic is trying to be helpful and is prescribing you Clomid (though it would be nice if they could answer your questions better too)...It's too bad they can't move your appointment up, but at least you've got something to try in the meantime.

So do you think you'll have some sort of bleeding or spotting around when AF is due to help you figure out when to start taking the Clomid? Are they going to monitor your cycle or are you on your own? Clomid + ovulating on your own might = multiples. Are you ready for twins? ;)

As for ASDA...it was actually really easy. They don't seem to stock the fertility medications in the store, but getting it in was really quick. As long as you drop off the prescription early enough (before 6pm, I was told by my asda), they can order it and it will arrive the next day. I left my phone number and got a call that my meds were in by 10am the next morning.

I have to take the Clomid Day 2-5, then I have to start the Puregon (FSH) injections, which should help grow my eggies and get them ripe. Then when they tell me, I trigger with the Ovitrelle, which is an HCG trigger. I wait a day and then the day after that, I go in for my IUI. I'm so excited to get started!

I'm still waiting for AF, if you can believe it. All that stress over it coming early and now she's late. lol. I tested BFN though, so I'm just waiting for her to show in the next day or two, then I can get the IUI ball rolling. I think this is the first month that I've wished AF would come sooner.

Once she shows, I call the doc's office and then they'll set up my baseline scan. Then after the first appointment, they'll do a scan every other day or so until it's time to trigger.

I think the anticipation of doing the IUI has drowned out all my negative feelings about AF this month. I'm too excited about getting started to feel bad about AF coming. Next month though, I'll probably have some kind of breakdown at the end of the TWW trying to figure out if I'm preggo or not.

Thank you han, no this is his second and first said slightly increased viscosity and motility and progression was normal and only had a re test because of higher than normal abnormal forms. The second one came back with normal abnormal forms but the greatly increased viscosity and all the stuff that goes with it. Will definitely get him drinking more as he's a bugger for coffee at work and beer at home so hoping we can do something about
Thanks again

Yeh there not being helpful in answering my questions at all.... They can't say whether it's normal or not, so you would have thought they would have got me in earlier. Hopefully I'll receive a letter this week with what's happening next, I.e. My clomid prescription

I don't know and when I asked the nurse at the fertility clinic she couldn't tell me, so I'll wait for this weekend and see what happens. I can't see why I wouldn't have a period when if my egg didn't catch I would need to have a period wouldn't i? But then again they think my bleeding might be the lining of my uterus so I really don't know. I don't think my ovulation date will catch really, but I might do ovulation testing this month (but then that also goes against my NTNP) oh I don't know :)

Sorry if I asked you this before but we're you not ovulating on your own?
I can tell your excited just in the way you type, I really hope you IUI works out for you this month! It's exciting the beginning of the period in some ways because you on hope this month will be the month!

Do you think your stress may have delayed your period? How's that going, has it arrived?

Wishing you loads and loads of baby dust!! Xx

Ladders no problem, is your oh also taking any meds? Mine is taking omega and also some multivitamins, they are similar to well mans but the cheaper Asda range?
It can take 3 months to improve sperm so wish you loads of luck! Get him drinking loads of water :) xxx

Yeah, I was wondering that if you've lost lining already, would you lose even more when AF was due...hopefully you would though, so you know when to start the Clomid. Did you get any BDing in this month or did the HSG totally mess things up?

I wouldn't think the HSG would change too much, but it can happen...though if you take Clomid, I would think you should ov around 5-10 days after you take the last pill. So, just BDing every other day for a couple of weeks should cover you if you don't want to do opks.

As for me, I ovulate on my own and usually between CD11 and 14, occasionally on CD16. I'm definitely excited this month! I just like feeling like we're actually doing something to help us conceive. Even if it doesn't work out, I'm just happy we're taking steps towards finally seeing a BFP.

AF took her time coming, mostly because in my fear of her coming early, I did progesterone to make sure I'd make it past 11DPO, and it took a while for my body to bring on AF after I stopped. But, good news! AF is FINALLY here. :) :happydance: :D I called my clinic today and I'm starting the Clomid tomorrow (and taking it day 2-6, as it turns out)...tomorrow they'll call me back and set up my first scan. I can't wait! :D

We got in some and the right time after the hsg... Although I don't know the likelihood of getting pregnant when my lining shredded what do u think??
I haven't received anything through the post so fingers crossed I get it this week, it's exciting starting things like this :)

Good luck with starting or clomid today - all this is exciting, let's both hope for some positive news!!!:)

Xx
