Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

Kat, what we discovered with my IUIs and a cyst I developed, was that bcp oversuppresses me. So we did estrogen priming instead.

Ok I wasn't on BCP though, I was on Suprefact injections for 3 weeks (it was supposed to be 2 weeks but they found a non-functional cyst so had to downregulate 1 week more).

What is estrogen priming?

Estrogen priming is basically a milder pre cycle suppression using estrace pills or an estrogen. It's sort of the new precycle for poor responders. It's usually combined with an antagonist cycle. So I had cycle monitoring to determine ovulation (yes we got to try naturally that month). 7 days after ovulation I started estrace pills. Once AF arrived I started my antagonist cycle. I did 200 iu gonal f, then started ganirelix injections to prevent an lh surge, and then added in repronex (it's an fsh/lh combo). I then did a dual hcg/lupron trigger. The down side is you are more likely to develop a lead follie, which is what sort of happened with me, all the follies did not grow evenly. So we sacrificed the lead to get the rest in range. My ovaries are really easily suppressed so it was worth the risk to get the extra follies.

Yesterday I got a BFP on a Wondfo test. But today when I tested with a Safeway brand Digital, and an Answer brand test both were negative (I sent hubby out yesterday to buy me store tests and those are what he came back with). AF came shortly after 8am this morning. I am really heartbroken. I was sitting at 4 days late....longest LP i've ever had (13 days is a long LP).

Looks like this was my second chemical. :(

Kat So sorry! :hugs: I hope this works for you!

Oh no! How sad! :hugs: I'm sorry to hear that, Angel!

Chemicals suck. Hopefully not too long for you to get your bfp, Angel!

Ah OK I see. Thanks for the explanation :)

Hi ladies I'm back. It's good to see some familiar names still here even though I'd rather see you all in the first tri forum, and some new names. It's been a while so I'll re introduce myself...

I'm 32 (33 in jan)
No pregnancies
I was on depo in my teens and early 20s and suffered years after with irregular periods and hormonal imbalances
For the last 4 years though I've been very regular only missing a period when I was extremely anemic (needing transfused) and recently a medication. I stopped that Med and got my cycle back right away
My normal cycles are short 24-27 days average
I've been lazy about charting and using OPK but I just started charging on FF and have a BB themometer
I'm also using Preseed and rePhresh for a couple days after my cycle

I've been taking maca, vitex and royal jelly with ginseng and propolis

Today is day 1 for me. I had absolutely no sore boobs or bloating which is normal. I did get a migraine and some insomnia which is typical and I wa a really hungry which is not. Wonder if my hormones are being strange.

Anyway I look forward to chatting with you ladies. :flower:

Thanks everyone. :hugs: I really love how supportive BnB is. These boards are definitely the best ones I've been in!

Hi Xokittycatxo - Nice to meet you! :)

Welcome back :hugs: I was wondering were you went:haha: Thought maybe you got a BFP and just disappeared:shrug: Sorry to see that's not the case, with the BFP I mean of course:wacko:

AFM my ovaries have already been twinging a bit more since my dose was increased and taking the 300 IU Bemfola Pens. Hopefully it's my 3-4 follies getting ready for DH's :spermy: :winkwink: Hopefully it's ensuring the 4th follie will be ready by Sunday for ER since my RE wasn't very hopeful about any small ones catching up.

Welcome back! :)

What do you think of the maca root? I was taking it for a while and it gave me some pretty bad headaches. Do you have any side effects from it?

Thanks everyone. :hugs: I really love how supportive BnB is. These boards are definitely the best ones I've been in!

Hi Xokittycatxo - Nice to meet you! :)

Seriously! There are some other boards where the women are positively hideous to one another! When I use google to search for symptoms and whatnot, I often come across that site called "The Bump" and the ladies there will tear a girl UP for asking something as simple as "What else causes sore breasts in the TWW?" I've seen name calling, accusations of the OP just fishing for compliments, insults flying -- then all the rest of the clique laugh at the OP and congratulate themselves on being so clever and funny in their insults. I will never EVER join that community. It's terrible that women could be so mean to one another when they've got no reason to be. Ugh.

I'm so glad B&B isn't that way. We need a place where we can vent, ask for feedback, etc. without feeling afraid or like we're stupid for asking -- and you ladies are all great here!

thanks! I have noticed a notable difference in my hormonal balance. I have an increased sex drive, more com and I'm just more regular. No negative side effects. Although I have to say the brand does matter. I notice the biggest difference with Terrasoul. When I switched it was like the effects diminished so I just reordered ther terrasoul. There are many different kinds and gelatinized or not and this is by far the best. I just blend it with my morning bullet proof coffee.

Thanks everyone. :hugs: I really love how supportive BnB is. These boards are definitely the best ones I've been in!

HI Angel! I must say u agree with you 100%. Iposted one thing on TB and thought it was well with in the "rules" yet still got questioned for it. Promptly deleted that app! Everyone here is so nice and supportive and not judgemental. This is a vulnerable, delicate time for us and the last thing we need is judged.

welcome back kitty.

I've never checked out that forum. I've always been in this one. I agree, most of the ladies on this one is friendly and supportive and positive. I love that people will give answers here even if it's a stupid question being asked.

Yeah but I have to be at my age since I'm 36 (turning 37 in May) so time is not with me:wacko: IVF seems to be the only possible way for us to conceive since all 6 IUIs failed and the natural way was of course going no where:nope:

Anyway just got back from my appointment and it still looks like it'll be 4 follies but I was fully prepared for the smaller ones to not be able to catch up. My lining looks really good:thumbup: But since my 4 follies still not large enough, I have to take 300 IU Bemfola for a few more days so ER will be Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm going in for one more scan on Sunday so they can check follie sizes and be sure about which of those days it'll be. DH wasn't too happy about my ER being changed from Sunday to now Tuesday/Wednesday because he was supposed to go on a job related course on Tuesday. But there's no one else to drive me since my in-laws took off for vacation last week and my mother's a malignant narcissist so don't want her along that day, she'll just come with snide comments and be embarrassing in front of the RE and nurses:nope:

BTW if we need to do another IVF, my RE told me it'll be short protocol next time:thumbup:

On the plus side it seems as if DH and I hit the limit so I didn't have to pay for my Bemfola Pens today (the state is taking over now I guess)

Kat Good luck!! It's nice that you hit your limit so you don't have to pay today! Do you have a yearly limit that will reset in January (like on our insurance in USA) or is it like a lifetime limit on the procedure in general?

Oh I know!! I specifically avoid The Bump because that site comes up a lot in my searches and the women there are absolutely cruel. That site was actually one reason I took so long to join BnB because The Bump kept coming up in my searches for different things and I didn't want to post questions and have to deal with people being so mean. Thankfully every time an old thread from BnB pops up on Google I see that the women here are a LOT more supportive.

I think it's a limit set for each 12 month period but I think since we first got ok'ed some months ago, it will still be applicable after New Years for a few months as I understand it. It's definitely not something they reset from January, I think it resets maybe according to when you got approved. Which I'm not entitrely certain of when it was as our previous clinic applied for us but it takes some months for them to process the application and we never did get any letter from them. I ended up asking at the pharmacy I was picking up my downreg meds from. I'll have to find out which month we got the actual approval.

All this stuff makes my head spin just listening to you yalk about it yikes. It will all pay off though.

I'm having one of those days where I'm super irritated by my friends or just women in general that take for granted getting pregnant. A good friend of mine has 3 beautiful children all conceived by accident and she often tells me she wishes she never had kids. I can totally understand that but the irony of it all kills me. Vent over.

More productively I just ordered a pre mama supp with myo-inositol and folic acid. Supposed to help you ovulate which I don't think I always do. Regardless it's also good for a more restful sleep, anxiety and mood balance so I figure it can't hurt.

Im 35 and I know women in their 30's who have had successful pregnancies, so hopefully baby dust to all of us here :)

Me too! I have a lot of friends my age getting pregnant and my mom had her last baby at my age so I'm choosing to stay optimistic.

I also have a couple friends who had kids in their mid 30s, plus my aunt had my cousin at 35. So I know it's definitely possible. It just sometimes seems so much harder than all those young kids! ;)

My sister just had her fourth 'accidental' baby, and she is not in any position to tend that number of children. Neither parent employed, living in a run down dump of a home with too little space for 6 (or more!) people to live in... It's just a mess.

And it hurts my heart to see the way those kids go without SO much. My mother, other sister and I do what we can, but you know how it is.

I just can't get over how some people think of children only as burdens and inconveniences, when there are ladies like us who'd love to have just one!
