Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

Star I wish you the best of luck. My sister did ivf and ended up pregnant with my twin nephew's.

Thank you gagrl! Did she get it on first try? So cute your sis has twins!

She did. They put two embryos in and both took.. Hence the twins. They are seven and then she has a two year old little girl. Never thought she'd get pregnant naturally after ivf and low and behold five years later.. She did.

Wow! That's great! I hope I get it on first try. I'm trying to educate myself on the process. I'm overwhelmed w info right now.

How are you doing?

So far so good. FF doesn't seem to really know when I ovulated this month but my breasts are so sore I know I'm in my LP.. So I guess we'll see towards the end of the month if AF comes.. If not I'll test.

Good luck gagrl! This past cycle my bbs were so sore too. I didn't know what to make of it bc I have never experienced that before. Now I know it can be a sign that O has occurred.

Angel-- Did the pain stay away for you? Hope you're feeling well. You have an avocado! How cute. :)

Star-- How are you feeling about this cycle. Looks like you're waiting to O?

Gagrl-- Your chart looks good and definitely looks like you ovulated, but just perhaps had incremental rises post O. I wish I were 11 DPO instead of just on CD 11 waiting to O! Lol.

I go back to the OBGYN tomorrow afternoon to talk about blood results and do a sonogram. Mostly hoping that nothing looks out of the ordinary. Waiting on a positive OPK. Doing the SMEP plan this go round, which so far actually feels less pressury than what we were doing, which was just trying to hit every fertile day with BDing. At least it's only every other day until a positive OPK, then just a few days in a row versus like a week. Lol.

Good morning. It's been awhile. I'm not getting my email updates all the time anymore from BnB. Might have to look into that.

My mom is in town and we are working on getting the nursery painted and ready. I'll get some pics up when I can :)

Looks like a nice dip on your chart Star. Hopefully your eggs are getting ready! :)

MissDoc - yes the pain stayed away. I think it's just a very irritated bladder, most likely caused by soda. Good luck with SMEP. We tried that several times but my cycles were so long and not predictable when I first started TTC that we'd burn out. :haha: Hopefully you have more luck. ;) Keep us updated about your doctor visit. :)

miss doc - good luck tomorrow! will you find out the results same day? keep us updated. fx that everything goes well. smep sounds like a good idea. glad you feel less pressure.

angel - how fun, painting the nursery!

afm - did a scan on tuesday and no growth. ive been concerned about it b/c doc mentioned something like this time around i won't stim as long as last time. last time i stimmed 31 days! so its not even comforting to tell me it wont be that long b/c i want it to be half as long not just a few days shaved off. plus i have been researching ivf and it seems like most people stim 9-11 days. some 14. so if i stim longer than that i am worried i wont get as many eggs b/c we are doing a low dose. im not really sure why we are doing a long stim (maybe b/c of pcos) or maybe i misinterpreted what she said. i have another appointment on friday; i'll ask doc about it then. we had hoped we would be able to get extra eggs to freeze but now im worried about the entire thing.

Sorry star. I'm assuming they are doing a low dose because they don't want to risk you way overstimming and being a bust? IVF is an expensive procedure to end up having to throw the cycle out. . .

i'll know more tomorrow. just going to me devastated if we paid for ivf only to get 3 or 4 follies. if thats the case we should have just stuck with iui. they overstimmed me once with iui so hopefully she knows what she is doing. i dont know anymore.

I thought that the number of follicles you get with IVF and IUI is relatively the same, the difference in the procedures is that IUI just deposits the sperm (the "good" sperm which have been separated from any not good sperm) near the egg in your body (so the sperm will still have to compete for the egg) while IVF actually removes the eggs, then fertilizes the eggs and then places the fertilized eggs back into the uterus. So IVF doesn't necessarily give more follicles, but costs more because they are removing the eggs, fertilizing in a lab (assuming fertilization occurs, because it may not) and then putting the fertilized eggs back in to see if they take.

IVF stim is designed to produce multiple follicles. IUI stim is intended to produce only 1 or 2. Otherwise you'd be risking higher order multiples with IUI, whereas with IVF they control the number of embryos placed back in the uterus. The problem with stimming someone with PCOS is that we already have many follicles present in each ovary that typically grow with stimming even a small amount, so IUI becomes too risky and cycles must be converted to IVF or skipped entirely. When I was discussing potential treatment plans with my RE, he said he wouldn't even try IUI with injections on me due to my PCOS.

I hope that all made sense. :)

Yep agree with drjo:thumbup:

I know the clinic I went to for IUI were going for max 3 follies while the hospital I went to for my IVFs were aiming for 8-12 follies/eggs. With my IVFs, the hospital I went to had a policy of only putting 1 embie back in as they want to avoid multiples which they consider as risky pregnancies plus they claimed that putting 1 good embie and 1 less good embie back in could result in none implanting as the less good embie could affect the good embie's ability to implant. I know many other places in other countries offer to put in 2-3 embies if desired though.

Hi ladies. I'm struggling to cope with the results of my testing. Hormones fine, but I have low ovarian reserve (.6 AMH, with the normal range for my age typically being about 1.5-11.0). My obgyn just slid a box of tissues toward me as she told me the news. She said I'll have a harder time getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and higher likelihood of genetic abnormalities because quantity and quality of eggs can be affected. I'm essentially a 32 yr old with 42 yr old eggs. This is crazy to me. Some people still get pregnant naturally with my odds, so you never know. But they recommend not waiting even a little bit before looking into assisted reproductive medicine. Referred to a fertility clinic. Feeling really sad because I have no clue how to pay out of pocket for what could very likely be IVF (my insurance has no coverage for fertility) AND with low eggs there's a lower chance that those things will work anyhow. That's a pretty tough pill to swallow. A lot of people look at donor eggs at this point but I just can't even wrap my head around that idea.

MissDoc - :hugs: I'm so very sorry. That has got to be such hard news! I'm so sorry. I'm glad that you have answers and can move forward, but I also know just how expensive fertility clinic is. My insurance does not have any coverage for fertility either. :hugs: Hopefully you can look into whether they have a payment plan or something? I cannot even produce adequate words to express my sympathies. :(

Oh goodness Miss.. I'm so sorry to hear that. We are here for you!

Hi Girls,
Im 32 and TTC#1, this would be my cycle 3. DH is 34.
I've got all my tests done and everything seems fine, but it just hasn't happened yet. My doc says I shouldn't be concerned but somehow I feel unsaid pressure, all my colleagues and friends have babies.

We had a conscious wait for 4 years after marriage to settle down professionally so I don't have any regrets on that...

I hope we all see a BFP soon.

AIN.. I'll be 32 at the end of August and TTC #1 as well. We are starting month six TTC.

Thanks Angel and GaGrl. I'm feeling a bit better now even though it's a big blow. Onward and upward. People still conceive naturally with these problems, so we'll keep trying that and hope for a bit of miracle while we wait to get in to meet the RE and learn about our options. :)

drjo - how long did you stim when doing ivf? and how many follies did you get /and how many fertilized? as of yesterday when my doc had not upped my dose, i had taken 7 doses of gonal-f at the 75 unit level dose. and still no growth. so she upped it to 100 so i took that increased dose last night and will continue through the weekend. i'll see her on monday again. is there you recommend i do to help increase my chances?

Miss Doc, i'm so so sorry to hear that. :hugs:

i am glad you are feeling a bit better now. you are right that even with ovarian reserve issues, people still get bfps. my ftx for you. my insurance only covers iui but not ivf, so i totally understand how you feel about it. the cost is such a huge consideration. we took the plunge, but its put a lot of stress on the cycle. when will you meet with your RE to discuss options?

I didn't do ivf, sorry for the confusion. I don't know much about the injection dosages themselves, so I don't have any advice on that. Sorry!

Missdoc, I'm so sorry you didn't get good news. Hopefully it won't matter and you'll still be successful.
