Welcome cheekygringo and EElse, good luck with TTC. EElse, can you take a home pregnancy test? A blood test can be done as early as a couple of days after AF is expected if Im not mistaken.
Hope everything is doing well, and that in 2015 well be seeing lots more bumps and babies in here.
drjo, how did your appointment go today ?
My appointment with the fertility specialist went like this... I had blood drawn for a bunch of tests, including FSH, estradiol, prolactin, rubella, AMH, TSH, LH, testosterone, FT4, and cystic fibrosis carrier. I also had an ultrasound for a basal antral follicle count. My right ovary was loaded with small follicles, too many to try to count. The left wasnt as bad but still had a lot. So I have polycystic ovaries. He started me on the middle dose of femara at 5 mg a day. I have an HSG scheduled next week tuesday, and OH has a SA in Thursday. I should know the results of everything at my hsg appointment. He discussed potentially doing a laparoscopy in the future due to my family history of endometriosis. I'm hoping that whatever is wrong is easily treated, and feeling good about getting the ball rolling.
Just to give an update:
I got my blood test results back and it was a
I made an appointment with doc for Thursday (earliest he could see me) to see what's going on since now AF is 11 days late.

Hello Ladies
I've been off the forums for a while just focusing on non-TTC-related stuff (I was getting really depressed/frustrated, especially with my cycle being so weird and spotting, making me think AF was coming, etc -- it got easier just to stop thinking about it). So I'm totally not up to date with what has been happening in here.
However, congratulations to all of the ladies who recently announced their BFP.
I hope everyone here had a good holidays and has the new year off to a good start.
AFM: AF finally did come (for sure this time); I had brown flow starting mid-day yesterday, and then heavy brown flow, turning to medium red flow in the night. So I'm calling today CD1. That means this last current cycle was 72 days long (but it did start with a 17-day AF, which probably extended it even more). The previous cycle was my first after BCP and it was 230 days long with not any spotting or anything the entire time. This latest cycle was 72 days long, and started with a 17-day long AF (due to the previous cycle being so long) and I had spotting, to different degrees, a few times through the cycle. I am glad that this second cycle was a lot shorter, but still upset because I know something is really wrong.
My biggest concern is that I'm pretty sure I'm not actually ovulating (everything I've read suggests it's extremely unlikely to ovulate on cycles that are insanely long like this).
I have my first appointment with the gyno to be scanned for PCOS and discuss my issues/concerns about my cycles on Jan 20th, which will be CD15. I think I will use OPKs, at least for awhile in this cycle -- until it gets too long and it becomes apparent that I'm not going to ovulate, either. I also have a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor, which I have not used, because it doesn't work on cycles longer than 35 days, however the test sticks do have an expiration date coming up in a few months, so I might use it anyway this cycle just to see what it says -- it can't hurt to gather more info/data to tell the Dr. when I see her.
Anyway, that's it for now.
BTW, Kat, good luck with your IUI this month. Fingers crossed this is your month.
to all!
Wow, yes, I can see if you have a 17 day AF something must be wrong. Definitely would tell your GP that. Wow, such long cycles. Do you remember what your cycles were like before BCP? Maybe your body is having issues adjusting? Guess I was super lucky in that my body so quickly found it's rythm although it still hasn't resulted in a BFP for me
Thanks Mrs. Tigger AF was supposed to show up yesterday but didn't so I'm hoping she'll show up today or tomorrow (which would still be somewhat within the normal but unusual) as I doubt I'm pregnant because I feel like I'm experiencing AF symptoms. Just wish she'd hurry up so I can get the ball rolling on IUI. She's usually pretty punctual and has picked a crappy time to be late, that's for sure Luckily the clinic is open on Saturdays or I'd be a bit more stressed about this

Yeah, I think the 17 day AF was because I didn't have a period for 7,5 months before it. I guess a lot of lining gets built up in that time. I did tell my GP about it, and about my concerns in general, so she referred me to the gyno, which made me an appointment for Jan 20th. They will check for PCOS and maybe some other stuff.
Truthfully, I don't remember what my periods were like much before BCP (I was on them for about 10 years), but I remember they have *always* been irregular, from the time I started them when I was 12 to the time I went on BCP at age 20. I feel like it was common for me to sometimes go as far as 2 or 3 months with no period, but truthfully, I didn't pay attention. Now I really wish I had But I find it encouraging that at least cycle 1 off BCP went from 7.5 months to a little over 2 months for cycle 2. Maybe it will just fix itself (not holding my breath, though). I've also lost a lot of weight, which might be helping to kick things into gear. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing the gyno and hopefully getting some answers.
I'm hope AF will show up soon so that you can call the clinic -- do you have to ring them up on the day AF starts?
Sorry about the PCOS drjo, but good to know you've started the tests and that the fertility specialist will know where to go from here.
MrsTigger, no wonder you're upset and concerned I'm glad the GP referred to you to a gyno, hopefully you'll be able to get some answers and have shorter cycles with some help.
EElse, sorry it was a BFP, let us know what the doctor says.
Kat, hope that AF stays away for you, or that it shows up quickly so you can get started on the IUI.
Good for you! I'm glad that your AF finally showed and good luck with the IUI appointment.
AFM: I'm spotting now so think my AF is also finally showing up after being 12 days late. I usually start slow so will only be counting my CD1 as tomorrow.
Good luck to you and please keep us up to date on what is happening with your appointments
