i opted out of testing for downs as i wouldnt terminate either way so the worry of maybe would be pointless...is anyone else NOT having it done? xxx

i didnt have it either for the exact same reason as you. xx

just as time goes on i keep thinking should i of had it but then it would of been pointless?..must be worrying as usual, everything's magnified with pregnancy huh

I don't have it either. Your not alone :)

I didn't have it done because I had to pay for it (150€).

If I had the money I would of done it. Considering I didn't then I didn't go ahead with it.

Besides, I wouldn't terminate anyway even if I did have it done and the results were not good.

Haven't had it with either, I don't see the point, It wouldn't change anything for me one way or the other.

I didn't have it because I didn't give it a second thought but at my 20 week scan they measured the nuchal fold and it was increased ( standard practice at my hospital) so now I'm terrified and wish I had the testing done early on x

Hi i didnt have it done either for the same reason. Weve waited too long for this baby and that condition would not bother us x

We opted out too, both last pregnancy and this one x

I opted out as well, I wouldn't consider termination so I felt it wasn't necessary.

I turned it down, for the same reasons as above, imo Downs is no reason to terminate a pregnancy and no matter what we'll love our little girl, so we felt it wasn't needed. :flower:

I didn't get it done either. I'd keep Zoe and love her just as much, even if she does end up with down syndrome.

The chances of her having it are super low because of my age, as well.

I have opted out both pregnancies. It seems to be the norm to have it done nowadays, but I don't feel it is necessary.

Nope, don't see the point, if the downs is severe there are heart problems etc that go along with it so they will be picked up at the 20 week scan x

I opted out too. We wouldn't terminate anyway and also they can pick up severe disorders on scans etc and I didn't want to get a statistic back like '1 in 200 chance' and be all worried when the probability could be really low etc.

I opted out :) we would never terminate LO even if he did have downs syndrome. Also, even if my blood results came back as high risk, I wouldn't have the amnio as it increases your chance of miscarriage.

We opted out of it
Where I'm from, they do a 2-part blood test which either shows positive or negative.
If you show positive, chances are only 1/10 that it is a true positive. 9/10 chance of being a false positive
The only further testing available if you received a positive was an amnio and we were uncomfortable with the miscarriage risk posed by an amnio so opted out of the testing
We would not terminate anyway so didn't see the point in worrying ourselves unecessarily.

yup i opted out too, same reasons as above...wouldn't terminate either way plus was told that ppl can get higher risk results and go on to be absolutely fine.

I chose not to because it wouldn't have made a difference to me. If the nuchal measurements and blood test come back high risk I would never have done an amino so I wouldn't want to spend the rest of the pregnancy worried.
