April ‘baby’ showers 2020

I've had to tell school to write him off for the rest of the week. They didn't sound too happy but their policy is 48 hours clear of a bug and going by his last dash to the loo that'll be 1:30 on Friday which would just be pointless to go in at that point haha
Car seat is here, can't believe in just over 2 months there'll be a baby in there.

I didn't watch the last few series as it was too painful so I'm now on episodes I've never seen before haha

I've started getting my room ready for babies stuff and my friend who is lending us a crib and pram amongst other things said she's sorted it all for collection so will be picking that up probably next weekend.

I've found these for Reubens first clothes/coming home clothes. They aren't exactly what I was looking for as I wanted a little layette with vest, sleep suit and hat, but I like that they are dinosaurs, they aren't too plain, but not too bright either, none of them are the mustard colour that seems very in right now even if some of the dinos are, and seeing as there are 3 of them I'll have extras in case we are in over night or he poops out of them. Ds1 is still very in to dinosaurs, we went to a fossil talk at the local history group the other day, ds4 loves red, and I think one of the little dinos looks very much like a dinosaur from a story book they have which swayed me toward these instead of the space ones I saw. I can't believe how many of the boys sets are just white. Im very in to grey at the moment but there was barely any grey or blue on so many of them.
I've bought 3 new vests as well but can't find any hats that'll go so I think I'll just dig out a couple of plain white ones and take them.
I made a start on my hospital bags today, there's just these and a few bits that are being washed to go in. I plan to use cloth nappies but I got down disposables for hospital and opened the pack to put some in his bag and had forgotten just how tiny size 1 nappies are! I've put about 20 in the bag, I'm only planning on being in a few hours so shouldn't need anywhere near that many, even if he's born late in the evening and they want to keep us until morning that should be more than enough and I can always get DH to bring more up.

They’re very cute mother, I Didn’t think to look on George for a few new sleepsuits

I’ve got all the clothes from the loft and now have about 6 sacks to wash which takes me up to a year
A lot of the newborn and 0-3 have yellow stains, I’ll try vanish, if not it will have to be new bits, it’s only dd bits like that though, not the neutral bits I used for ds after dd but then they haven’t been up there as long
I know I didn’t put them away like that so somethings happened in storage

The bouncy chair and play mat is down too
All chucked in the nursery which now looks like a bombs gone off

Midwife went well yesterday, 2 appointments left (hoping I won’t need them 39+5 one!)
She’s head down at the moment and back to back, few weeks for that to change though
Time is flying by!

After looking for 10 weeks and struggling to find anything, then buying those yesterday, I typically found something I love in Morrison's. Admittedly I mostly love it because I knew ds4 would love it :haha:
That's such a shame about the clothes having marks on them, fingers crossed they come out in the wash, although an excuse to shop is always nice :haha:
I can't believe where the time is going, 32 weeks tomorrow. I'm not nearly organised enough but am getting to the point where I just can't wait either. The last few days I've felt quite heavy and the last 2 times I've been out to the shop I've ended up with such a sore back.

Oh my gosh that’s adorable Mother! My DD would love that for baby sister as she’s peppa pig mad!

Star- shame about the marks but hopefully vanish will work wonders!

Sorry been quiet on my end. We have had the wall put up this week for the new guest room! I also painted little ones nursery and got it all ready. Starting on my hospital bag tonight and starting to feel ready for her arrival! 3 weeks left of work!

It's all getting so close now. I'm having a slight wobble day on the fact that he isn't a girl. Not sure why it's struck now when I've finally found clothes I love rather than when I was struggling. I did get asked a few times today if I would have liked a girl, there isn't really a way to answer that honestly in front of your kids. I always just say "it would have made a nice change but it wasn't something that was important to me." But it's literally just hit since my last comment in here.
I'm sure once I start washing everything and setting things up then I'll be good again

Oh I’m sorry mother. Must be really tough when people comment on it especially in front of the kids... be kind on yourself and let yourself have a wobble and process the feelings. Hugs coming your way!

I've had a cry today but for a completely different reason. I finally got to the point of organising my room where I could move the drawers next to the bed to make room for the crib and discovered the crib isn't going to fit there. DH suggested that we just get rid of those drawers and I was like "but where will we put your things, there's just no room." Anyway, we are now planning to rearrange the whole room next week. I'll regret it as soon as we start, I'm sure.
The dino sleep suits arrived today and I've found some little hats that will sort of go with them in what we've got. I have a charcoal coloured one to go with the red. That'll work, right?

Oh no! But it might feel nice to rearrange and get things fully sorted for when he comes! Charcoal definitely can go with red sleepsuit.

I had an intense urge to get my hospital bag sorted last night. Packed it all- just need some cotton. Then this morning had the midwife and my blood pressure has increased so I’ve been diagnosed with preeclampsia. So swear this intense urge to pack was me subconsciously knowing I needed to get ready just in case. As of now I’ll just have extra monitoring and just need to watch for symptoms it is worsening!

Oh no, that sucks about the pre-eclampsia. I do think sometimes our bodies just know and give us urges in response.

Glad you’re feeling better mother, I feel your pain at room rearranging, think it’s all ive done he last few weeks, I’ve st still got sacks everywhere as haven’t washed anything and the nursery looks horrific!
As in mess wise lol, I just can’t get anywhere with it all!

Sorry about the pre eclampsia sweden, your instincts kicked in by the sounds of it but hopefully you won’t Be needing your bag just yet and stay well
Thank you for the reminder of the cotton Wool, I stocked up on bits but totally forgot that!

I started my bag today and gone a bit blank haha
I can’t put baby clothes in yet as not washed but I did buy 3 new sleep suits yesterday

So far I’ve put in

- 2 nursing nighties
- leggings, vest top and another new top for me for going home
- wash bag with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, face wipes, moisturiser for me
-maternity pads (20 pack)
- reusable bamboo breast pads in a cute box I got from amazon
- nipple cream
- baby blanket
- baby’s first teddy (a baby Minnie Mouse from Disneyland chosen by dd when we went at Xmas)

Still to add

- sleepsuits
- Vests
- hat
- cardigan
- not sure about taking a dressing gown for me, might find a thin smaller one, never used one be last 2 times after giving birth

Still to buy and add

- new slippers
- cotton wool
- toothbrush and paste in case leave ina. Rush and forget to pick up my current ones
- nappies!
- snacks for dh and sister mainly, I didn’t touch them last time

Back wa so achy yesterday but better today, 33 weeks Saturday, can’t wait now!

Im not bothering with a dressing gown. If for some reason I need to be induced I will throw a light one in but the hospitals are so warm, I didn't use it with ds1 and didn't pack one in my just in case bag with the others and ended up transferring in after ds4 was born and didn't even think about wanting it while in. Im going to wash it anyway just in case.
I did the same with toothbrush and tooth paste. I feel better knowing that everything will be in there instead of having to grab things on my way out the door

Ive packed a light cotton dressing gown. Found I used it quite a bit with DD! I also did the same with the toothbrush, and also bought a mascara and moisturiser to put in there too! Don’t feel myself without mascara on.

I need to buy sleepsuits/going home outfit. I have a few things from DD but want her to have her own first things. But waiting for my growth scan to see if I’m expecting a tiny bubba again so I know what sizes to get!

So now I know I likely only have 5 weeks left! With the PreE diagnosis I’m guessing I’ll be induced at 37 weeks as that’s guidelines- although DD came before they get round to it last time!

Not long at all sweden! That’s a good idea to wait for the growth scan
I ordered some new thicker pjs from next and underwear, socks and slippers and they came the next day so think I’m mainly not sorted now now for my bits

Just started to wash the newborn clothes and have a bucket of bits in soak to see if they can be saved, there’s not as many bad ones as I thought actually so should have enough with just the 3 new sleepsuits i got
I just can’t wait now, think I’m More excited as not being induced this time, hopefully it won’t change so I can have the excitement of waiting for it to start naturally this time

Hope everyone is well this weekend

Im glad I'm not the last one to have a coming home outfit, I feel like everyone in the Facebook group I'm in had outfits ready except me. I was the same though, I had lots of hand me downs but wanted new for coming home. Good is a waiting for the scan though. I've bought up to 1 month as all of mine have been a decent size.
Today we actually managed to move all the bedroom furniture and pick up the crib etc, there's still loads to do, but it's coming together and it's mostly sorting left really.

Thats great you fixed the room and feeling that everything is coming together! It’s nice to feel sorted!

I ended up at delivery on Saturday due to increasing blood pressure. I’m home again now and things are looking better. But if I get any more spikes I’ll likely be starting my maternity leave. Going in again tomorrow for extra checks and will have placenta checks at my ultrasound on weds. Hoping baby and placenta look good!
