April Mummies 2011

She was not my friend at that point in time. Lol
She is sooo stubborn. She is testing my mummy patience today!!!

we've had the throwing/hitting/ignoring thing for quite a while. i think it's all on it's way out as we've found words she understands to stop other then "no".

my meds are for my new anti depressent. the stuff i was on made me oober tired and i no longer thought this was ppd, so i went to see my counselors dr and he put me on something new. it's not too bad tho and it won't last forever.

That's good! Hope the side effect has some up sides... Or goes away quickly!!!
I think once the understanding and better communicating skills arrive the hitting and throwing gets much better. DH likes to play rough with Rosie though- so she still likes to play rough sometimes. We try to have to use words to let us know when she is wanting to have rough play.

yeah i think a lot of alex's tantrums stem from him not making himself understood. Although he has plenty from when i say no to something too! we both fully understand each other then just don't agree :haha:

omg someone stop me eating sweets :haha:

She makes her needs know and understands it more when a demand is placed on her she is like it. Just seemed constant for the last few days

We've been going through the "nope" phase for quite some time. Started with shaking her head then saying "nope" to everything and sometimes just plain "no". I realized how often I was telling her "no" so I've tried to watch what I say and tell her why she can't do/have something instead. I don't always remember to do it though but I think it's helping. I've also found if I ask her to do something and she says nope, I start counting to 3 and she'll usually do or give me what I'm asking for. I tell her I'm going to count to 3 and if she doesn't give it to me/put it down then she goes in time out. Funny thing is she doesn't usually mind time out, she sits and sings to herself :dohh:

Sorry to those that are feeling poorly or have kids/husbands that are poorly. Lizzie started sneezing and has a runny nose, dh also thought she felt a bit warm. Really hoping it's just a minor cold that won't get her (or us) down.

:hugs: cottles. Wish I could pop over and whisk you away for a quiet girls cup of tea! Would be so amazing if we all lived closer or better yet in the same town! Oh the playdates and Mommy nights we would have!!

Went shopping to Ikea today to get one of their highchairs. Tired of our bulky ones that have cracks and crevices for food to get stuck in. This is just one piece of plastic that I can hose off or wipe down easily. She picked out a bright red one. Also picked her up a tall step stool that she is having a blast dragging around the house to see what she can find on the counters. Nothing is safe anymore!

Made a delicious Indian Butter Chicken/Curry dish and the house smells like an Indian Restaurant. I think it was the fenugreek, reminds me of my nursing tea days! Worth it for the taste though.

Tasha, I love the toddler beds for the twins, adorable!!! Hope they continue to sleep well in them.

Dana, hope the new meds are exactly what you need. Will be so nice not to feel tired all the time when you take them.

Well this has turned into a novel. DH is putting Lizzie to bed so I guess I better get everything ready for work tomorrow and pack up lunches. Then off to watch Revenge and another episode of Downton (almost caught up with season 3 in the US).

thanks but i think i'll need some new ones because i've been super emotional while on them. meds are a bit of a shot in the dark

I count to three. I go one and then poppy normally says two three lol
She sits herself in time out makes me laugh she's also puts her toys in time out to if they don't listen to her lol

eek alex has posted coins in our rather expensive hoover :/, DH is gonna kill me! They've gone into the chamber part i can't get too to get them out, oops!! wonder if it'll still work and just rattle nowadays

we're stuck inside today as he's sooo snotty and temp still keeps going up, not fair on other parents to share these bugs!

on phrases alex keeps saying everything 'got me'. Sure it started from us saying the cat would 'get him' if he's not gentle, so now not only does he seem to be calling her 'got me' but everything he even slightly bashes himself he says 'got me'

pickle will hold her nose and say "pooeeey" when someone farts :D I started teaching her it for when OH went for a poo :haha: but now she doesn't it even when she farts too :haha:

I'm a bad Mum

^^ brilliant!! i must work on something like that to embarrass DH when he farts!

Haha Toby does something similar... I started say "poo stinky!" when I changed a dirty nappy. Now he does it any time someone poops or farts :D

:hugs: for all the poorly mummies & babies. Rex is snotty today too & in a right grump so think he's feeling under the weather. I usually wake him from his nap but letting him wake up on his own to see if that helps him shift the cold.

Good luck for TTC with the meds Bernina.

Gem, hope they find about your chest quickly.

Hope you're feeling better, Cottles.

I've booked Rex's birthday party today :happydance: We're having it all a play centre & I literally just turn up. Sounds great to me!

Isis thinks its hilarious to fart! She grunts and tries to fart if we do. We're raising quite the little lady! :haha:

Ok ladies....I need all the good thoughts/prayers you can spare! I went for a job interview today and I really hope i get this job! Its perfect for me and my degree! I wont be sad if i dont get b/c its between me and a colleague...so its a win no matter what! lol
Ohh and Im not gonna post anything on FB b/c I don't want some people to know that ive decided to go back to work yet! lol (They've been trying to talk me out of it for some time now) :)

Thinking of you Emmys!!

Rosie shouts the name of whoever she hears fart and says DADDY FART HAHAHA but when she poops its ewww gross stink ewww

One think we try to work on with parents at my jobs is teaching them to avoid the words NO DON'T STOP WON'T COULDN'T and any of the negative commands. Try keep your feet on the floor, sit on your bottom etc...
Rosie listens better when I remember to take my own advise :haha:

I try that but find myself saying no far too often. I think that's why he's starting to ignore it. Must try and do what you suggest more often Sam.
It's hard though because DH is very much the kind of person that just repeats no.

Good luck Emmys! X

When Poppy poo's she announces she has a stink bomb on board lol.

Good luck Emmy x
