April Mummies 2011

Eurgh. Zombie-fied. Rex only let me have 4 hours sleep last night. Why won't he sleep normally?! I'm so jealous of everyone with their sleeping babies :-( I'm lucky if he sleeps for 4 hours in one go. Most last night was 3 hours but that was the only stretch he did

At your LOs age, mine was exactly the same. I know it doesn't help, but he will get there :hugs:

Mrs-C do you feed on demand or do you stick to the 3.5 hour thing? What do you do if they want milk after say 2 hours?

We used to feed on demand. She was on a 3/4 hour routine which settled into a 4 hour one. The HV suggested trying to get more feeds in the day to help her go through. We reduced her 15 mins at a time to get to 3 hours. By doing that she was pretty much demanding it then anyway.

She started not finishing her bottles and not really demanding them. We went to 3.5 hours, she started draining them and bingo, same day she did the 9.30 - 6.30 sleep. I'm religiously sticking to it until we start slowly weaning at 17weeks. Then I might try bringing bed time forward. We're on hol for a week this month so it will probably work well her 9.30 bottle, 10 bed time.

TBH, she doesn't demand anymore after 2 hours. She's having 180ml every 3.5hours which seems to work for her. When she was demanding it after a shorter time and finishing her bottles we took that as a sign she wasn't full after the bottles so we started adding an extra 30ml. She didn't always finish it but would take between 10-30ml extra. Maybe try that if LO is hungry after 2 hours?

How are you finding the Hipp? After a couple of weeks her poops are daily and sickness is right down. Only downside is the packaging is crap and there's less in the box! Although, it's £6.25 in Superdrug (when they have it in stock!) and until they realise, they are giving beauty points on it too!

wow lots of sleeping babies! mine at least has stopped thinking the middle of the night is morning and is going back to sleep after his night feed. then waking about 6-7am for get up time. not too bad i guess...be lovely to have longer in bed though!

xx

That was the first step for us. DD thought night time was day time for weeks. Once she got the hang of that she didn't take long to go longer at night :flower:

I agree also. Once Amelia realized sleep is a good thing when it's dark, she slept longer lol! She now does from 8pm- 7am but I pump at midnight as my boobs get so engorged it's ridiculous. I hope the growth spurt is now over as she had a good 3 hour nAp in her pram today but I did something different. I fed her with my cardigan draped over her, so when she fell asleep I put her straight down (without waking to burp her) and on her side. If I had put her on her back she would've woken up instantly.
I also put a cuddly toy in there for her to grip, as she sometimes likes holding my finger. She assumed I was there as she could smelly scent on the cardigan and was "holding" my finger.
Trust method is a huge thing as she hasn't been sleeping in the day for the past week!!! I hope it was to do with the growth spurt as she was feeding and awake constantly.

Sorry it may not make sense at parts as my iPhone has decided it would spell for me instead!

I don't know what's going on but the past 2 nights Isis has gone to bed before 8. Tonight she went to bed at 7:30 which is the time we were trying to get her to sleep. I hope she keeps it up when she goes back to "school".
DH and I did a bunch of landscaping today. I am so sore! I haven't done anything for weeks because of my healing issue. I"m still on restricted duty at work. I spent 2 hours taking notes in a field on Tuesday and it took me the rest of the week before the pain went away. I'm pretty ticked off. I figured I'd be fine by now. So much for vaginal birth being a easier recovery :dohh:
I got the new diapers from my mom on Friday and I've been washing them to get them ready to wear. Isis should be in her new cloth diapers tomorrow! :happydance: I'm hoping they'll be good enough to be used at "school". The last batch had problems with wicking so I didn't feel comfortable with them using them at "school". I'm also cutting the fabric for the next 2 sizes so it won't be a rush for my mom to sew them.

Sazzle, sorry George won't sleep for you! Isis would wake up every 2 hours when she was a newborn but slowly has been increasing her time asleep and reducing number of feeds. Sorry he's not reducing very quickly.

Emmy, I'm the same as Sam, I had what could have been AF at 5 weeks and had a real AF at 9 weeks. I'm pissed because I'm BF and I was hoping to not have it for months.:growlmad:

Dana, I hope you're able to figure out her napping. As far as I can tell as soon as I figure out something that helps her sleep, it stops helping. :dohh:

some night time cute!

pretty sure these are my new favorite things....

so cute Dana! where did you get the sunglasses? I've considered getting the ones that have the strap in the back. You have some of the best "crazy sleeping position" pictures!

I did not need to know about those cheesecake strawberries! They look so good!

Happy 4th July to all you US girlies!

Dana those strawberries look amazing. Cheesecake is my favourite dessert!

Happy 4th July US girlies. It is my wedding anniversary tomorrow and I have lived in my house for a year on Sat, exciting week. I am Samantha Ruben on facebook.

For the girls who express I need a bit of advice, I am doing a whole load of bottles for Sat as I am out so getting used to the pump but at the end of August I am matron of honour for my best friend so will be leaving LO with OH from 7 in the morning and then OH has to travel down with him to the wedding venue for 12. I am literally going to have to do bottles for the whole day, how do you travel with expressed milk?

I have added everyone on facebook I think - my profile pic is Daniel and me>

I've travelled twice to my mum's (an hour away) with expressed milk. Once I've pumped it I freeze it in lansinoh bags then just before I leave I put whatever I need in a cool bag with 2 big ice packs. It's always stayed frozen so I just shove it in the freezer again at my mum's. But I'm sure you could defrost it & make the bottles up & do the same with a cool bag & ice packs? Is the wedding at a hotel? Could you ask someone to keep it in their mini bar fridge for you when you arrive?!

hehe, she loves to sleep in weirdo positions.

my sil got them for her at my baby shower, but i believe she got them at children's place (love them!).

i don't think anyone NEEDS to know about the cheesecake but the amt of cheesecake is so little, that it seems to be a good snack.

Since when have Pampers Active-Fit nappies not been elasticated around the back? Because they sure used to be! :growlmad: Exceptionally annoying when Gabriel keeps on managing to poo out the top of them right up his back :dohh:

Urgh, that doesnt sound pleasant! I've only had one nappy mishap so far and that was only a tiny amount *touches wood*

I'M SO HAPPY! Toby did his first proper laugh today. Like, he actually giggled and let out this big throaty laugh. Before today he'd just grin really big and coo like he was trying to laugh but couldn't. Aww. So proud :D (He did it when I was changing his vest because he sicked all over it... its not like we were even playing!)

Aww Cottles that's great!
Amethyst- THAT SUCKS! UGH! Rosie has been pooing out her diapers more so I'm thinking it's onto size 2s... but I REALLY want to make it through the last of the 1s we have (only about 25 left)
I LOVE THOSE SUNGLASSES DANA! She is SO CUTE! I think I may have to pick up some sunglasses for Rosie. She doesn't like sun in her eyes AT ALL.
As for traveling with boobjuice- I also freeze mine and keep it in a cooler bag. An Ice pack will help it stay cooler longer and it's also good for 4-6hrs at room temp (I stay more on the 4hr side since it's getting hot here. Between leaving with it frozen, then ice packs and it being able to sit out you should be fine for the whole day. I haven't been using bags though- I've got a lot of medela containers for milk storage.
Hmm if I was going to a 4th party today or cookout I would make those strawberry cheesecakes. YUMMM!!! But I'd also put a blueberry (or half of one) on top lol.
So DH and I stayed with some of his family last night and we brought the pack n play for Rosie this time (I am sick of her never sleeping here because she doesn't like to sleep with me anymore). SHE SLEPT! Granted she was EXHAUSTED after fireworks last night (SHE LOVEDDDD THEM!) and she slept from 10:30 until 7 and was back down after eating/pooing by 7:30 and is asleep still. DH and I slept in a twin bed with both of our dogs (65 and 75lb dogs) just like the old days when we first got together.

Isis started pooping out of her diapers so we're doing the transition to size 2's. I have 1 1/2 sleeves of 1's but I'm going to just put the whole sleeve away for #2. Although, today at Target she peed/pooed through a size 2 all over me, the wrap and herself. I'm just glad I decided to buy a shirt at Target because we still had some errands and we live 40 minutes from town. It would have been a long time to sit in a wet shirt...

Hopefully this evening we'll remember to do Isis' 2 (almost 3) month pictures. I'll take some with the digital too so I can share them. I love the DH uses film but it makes it impossible to share electronically.

too cute Cottles! I can't wait for proper laughs!

For long travels with expressed milk I froze it before I left and packed it with ice packs and when I got there it was thawed so I used that first before I expressed more.

I can't wait for her first real laugh!!!
She just learned to scream in this high pitch, and she does it randomly LOL.
Kinda funny but it gets annoying at times :haha:
