I got my blood results back today, but I couldn't speak to my own MW, just the one who took the sample on Thursday (who was complaining about how little time they have to do anything ). She said all the results were within the normal range, but wouldn't give me the actual levels over the phone and seemed really shocked that I wanted that much detail!

I got my actual levels from the lab (shhh...) and one of the results (Alkaline phosphatase [ALP]) is borderline (103 where normal is from 30-110), so it could show something different by next week...

I asked her about re-testing because the itch is just getting worse, and she said I could move up my appointment if I wanted so I'm booked in for a second set of bloods next Monday. Instead of my hands and feet just itching at night they are itching on and off during the day now

I'm happy that the bloods came back within normal, even though I'm pretty convinced that I do have OC it has to be a good sign that 31 weeks it wasn't bad enough to show up in the LFT test.

I said to the MW about wanting the bile serum test carried out and she said she already did that, that was the bilirubin, but that's not right. Bilirubin is part of the normal liver panel test, it isn't the same as a test for the level of bile salts. You're supposed to fast for 4 hours before the bile serum test (whatever it is actually called!)

The British Liver Foundation website says that it can take weeks for the LFT tests to show OC so I'm just going to be a PITA and make her test me every week until I have the baby! She'll hate me by the end of this, but I can't rest without knowing...

Better to annoy your MW and keep getting monitored than not. I think you're doing the right thing

Wow, 555Ann555, that's awesome! Good on you for educating yourself on these matters and sticking up for yourself. I agree, it's better to annoy the midwife and get the answers you need than to be left hanging. It's a bit unnerving to hear they're giving you slightly wrong info on the bile test thing! Part of me trusts the medical profession for knowing more than I do anyway, but part of me always likes to do my own research as well to supplement what I'm told.

I went for another scan today. Everything is good, and Stinky is DEFINITELY a boy. I'm so glad I went... OH didn't want me to because he thought I was just being silly, but it was so worth it. Stinky's so big now so it was hard to get a good shot, but I saw his face, and his chubby wee cheeks.
I just can't wait to meet him now.

That's brilliant news about the scan Was it a private scan?

My hubby is a bit worried about our next growth scan (on Monday) as he's been really keen NOT to find out the sex and he's scared we'll accidentally see... Hopefully they'll avoid the baby's groin!

BTW: I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about it now, but I checked with an Obstetric Cholestasis support group (www.OCsupport.org.uk) and I've definately, definately not had the right bile acid test yet! It is good to know for all that it pissed me off! One of the OC researchers replied to my email and was a bit gutted that a MW didn't know the difference, but hopefully I'll see my own MW on Monday and not her! If they don't agree to give me the test I'm going to ask my GP.

Monday is going to be such a long day! I've got the MW appointment at 11.45am at the health centre, then at 5.15pm we've got the growth scan at the hospital, then at 7pm we've got the first of the antenatal classes at the hospital again!

Moreno is gutted because he took Monday off work to get over his hangover (old firm game on Sunday ) but instead he's going to have to go into his work twice with me!

It wasn't private, no... my mw ordered it! She said I'd had reduced movement, and that she wanted to check the growth. She's sneaky!
There is no way I would have accidentally seen his boy bits - she really hunted them out for me. Baby is so big at the stage you can really only see little bits at a time.

Good luck for Monday. I hope you get your mw and that she agrees on the tests.

You keep going on at them hun, best to be better informed than not at all I say.

Also I had a scan last week and there was no way we could tell what colour parts they were. The baby was so big (not too big though) that it's hard to make out those parts and the woman who scanned me also stayed away from the area as she knew we didn't want to know and just concentrated on getting the measurements we wanted.

Well I am back to doing the 24 hour urine testing today. I've hardly peed a thing though, am hoping I get a weeing spurt on later. Fingers crossed my protein has gone down. I can't wait to speak to the consultant though and will also probe him about my birthing options while I am there.

My husband and i are in the process of buying a house and that has my time tied up. I'll get everything updated soon...PROMISE. What is the 24 hour urine testing? Do you have to take a sample at set time periods?

Have they said what they're checking for? (I have no idea what protein in the urine actually means! )

I just finished updating the list.

I went to bed last night with heartburn and woke up this morning sick as can be. I have the two younger girls back in the bedroom with me so I can rest. Thank goodness my husband bought me my laptop. I went to the doctor on tuesday and he checked my cervix. It is low and starting to dilate but not enough to give a number too. So he said he is considering it as being closed. I don't have an appointment next week, the week after I start going every week. I only have 3 more appointments until I'm induced. It is kind of crazy to think that I only have 28 days to go. That isn't that far off.

ive been sick for 2 weeks now ...cant get rid of this cough...my tummy is so sore from all the coughing ...but besides that im so excited i have an appointment on the 8th of march i think finally i might be getting my c-section date ...i have a feeling its gonna be on april 1st! i'll keep u posted !
