Hello ladies,

My daughter had her BCG vaccine in June, and was doing great with it up until a few days ago..

All of a sudden it became very nasty looking, very large and a lump like a golf ball underneath. ( I can add a pic tomorrow )

Anyway, most of my friend's babies have had this jab and I could see it didn't look 'normal' so I took her to the doc this morning and he said he thinks it could be a bacterial infection at the site of the jab.

He's given a week's worth of antibiotics, and if this doesn't help or it continues to grow, it means it's not an infection and just a really bad reaction to the vaccine.

Has anyone had anything similar to this? It really looks quite bad and I'm panicking!!

On another note, the antibiotic he gave is 4 times a day (6 hours apart) on an empty stomach or 1 hour before food.

How the heck do I do this if she sleeps 7-7. Do I wake her? Also, she is 8 months old so eats a lot and does not often have an 'empty stomach'!!!

I'm so confused and worried.

Thanks for any advice
xxxx

I don't have any advice hun but I wanted to give your post a bump! My LO is scheduled for this jab but I feel reluctant somehow, and I've already cancelled one appointment. I really hope your baby is better soon!

Thanks so much Green Lady! I cancelled 2 appointments before finally taking her for this one. The actual vaccine was easy, she didn't even cry....but I thought it would be too good to be true!
If it makes you feel any better, every single one of my friends and family's babys have had this jab and all of them have been just fine!
xxx
