BLW - Baby led weaning support thread

Wow, thats a great start with the spoon Nic!! I haven't tried to let Oliver help himself with a spoon yet. TBH, it hasn't actually crossed my mind :dohh:!!!

I might start letting him have ago over the next few days. We have visitors on Sunday - may do it then, just for the laugh!!!!!

I thought she'd been quiet, but thenso have I so just thought I'd missed her posts. I'll check she's ok. :flower:

we had a similar tea to you raf! Ours had brocolli and cauliflower in though as well as pepper and tomatoe and onion and mushroom (it was a use stuff up meal!!).

Elliot's had big twisty things, smaller twisty things and tagliatteli (haven't got a clue how to spell that!!!), he had the last one with cheesy onion and mushroom sauce - quite messy but fun!

I give Elliot his spoon - just load it up for him and he puts it in his mouth (most of it ends up around his mouth).

I gave him some 'baby cereal' at lunch time. Is it supposed to be that watery? He ate some but it didn't taste of much... He was alot more excited by the one and a half bananas and yogert that he ate.

not quite how it works but he tried

1st time eating pasta, i gave him them to play with before i added anymore food to his tray, i got the portion wrong though, they swell so much dont they lol.
ignore his noises he's a very vocal eater haha, he ate about 5 out all of them  which i thought was good for his 1st attempt, i love how he swishes them with his fingers feeling the textures

Helen that's fantastic!!! Love Rhys so much!!! I like that bowl - Elliot does what Archie does Louise (love the photos, he's gorgeous :D ).

I did too much pasta too Helen - hardly any of it ended up on the floor though, Elliot seems to only like throwing things on the floor that there's not that much of.....!!!!!

Elliot's doing really well - it takes him a while to get going but once he's eating he's great.

Rhys is such a pro at BLW!!!

My top find the other week which I forgot to post about was a 'messy mat'. It's basically a plastic sheet and it fits nicely under her seat to catch the mess. I got it for £3 in Wilkinsons after I refused to pay £8 for a shower curtain!!

archie trying to spoon feed what a mess he made and he loves tomato too

what does the mat do then catch the food, my high chairs in the kitchen so i just wipe it up,

aw luck at Archie with the spoon he's doing really well
xx

we had pasta again tonight, i put some strips of chicken, tomato, carots and brocolli, he reallly got into it half hour after playing with it, i ditched the bowl it frustrates him i think, i've put a towel under his bum as well i read something in the bible bout being too low in the highchair,
he put a whole piece of chicken in his mouth and i didnt panic but whinced but he chewed it and swallowed it no gagging :happydance: lol
has anyone given those frozen fish in butter boil in the bag i was thinking about halving one and making two little fish pies and gratering a bit of cheese on top, the sodium is
3.5 per 100g, is says anything lower than 3 is ok 0.5g isnt going to harm him surely, what do you all think?

xx

Yeah sometimes I like to bring her in the room if she's eating lunch and I'm trying to do stuff. I used to put a towel under her but that was more washing so I was looking for something wipe clean. The messy mat is with the painting stuff in Wilkos and I was actually picking up finger paints for her when I saw it and thought....AH! Multi purpose!! :D It's about the size of half a single bed sheet.

We've been putting newspaper down  x

We've been to a wedding reception tonight. Elliot was the focus of the whole table while he tucked into half a tomato :D Then he had cheese sandwich and pizza.

Helen, if you're making a pie with it and the rest of the stuff doesn't have salt in then doesn't that reduce the grams of salt per hundred grams?... Hope that makes sense, I've been drinking :wine: got the night off feeding and dp is on bottle duty (still ebm as I've not braved formula yet!!)

that's THE book to read (the bible) there are finger food books and stuff too but go with that one first. There's a dvd too but don't think you need to watch it if you read the book x

we had the same at a wedding elm rhys sat in his bumbo in the middle of the table so he was eay to spot lol. great not having to think about what food they might eat.

we're going for a meal next friday but it doesnt start till 8pm, think i'll have to feed him before we go and then if he wants something off our plate he can have it as extra, i dont know how he'll get on as 8pm is his usual bedtime :dohh:

good thinking batman about my fish pie going to do it tomorrow.
