Books

I'm reading The Debt to Pleasure by John Lanchester. It's good, although a little plodding so far. But, I'm on a diet and it's about food - if I can't eat the stuff, I'm bloody well going to read about it.

Sophie kinsella is my guilty pleasure, but I didn't like shopaholic to the stars either :( I thought becky was selfish and vapid.

Yes I do agree to an extent, that Kinsella had lost touch with the original character a little. I realise the story was about Becky losing her way, but I think she lost it a bit too much so it was a little far-fetched! Still there were several chapters, especially those featuring Minnie, which had me really laughing out loud, and I really couldn't put the book down.

Does anyone know any other authors who write in a similar style of Sophie Kinsella?

If I remember rightly its only part 1 of a 2 parter & ended on a cliff hanger? So maybe she'll redeem herself in book 2.

What about marianne keyes? (I cant remember how to spell her name!) I think shes good for chick lit, I remember reading a couple of her book when I was younger. Might go and browse amazon for her actually

Yes hopefully Becky will be back to being nice Becky by book 2!

I have read quite a few Marianne Keyes books, and while they are good, I never find them quite as addictive or laugh out loud funny as Sophie Kinsella.

I've just started ash by James herbert. I've a bad habit of starting books and not finishing them :dohh:

I absolutely hated how shopaholic to stars ended on a cliffhanger!

Almost finished Avalon. Highly recommend. Historical (kinda) romance. Amazing.

Phillipa gregory and sophie kinsella write about different things but I find PG easy to read tone is similar in a strange way. X

I've read most of the Shopaholic series and loved them. Need to read the newer ones though! Sophie Kinsella released some books under the name Madeleine Wickham early in her career so you could maybe give those a look?

I also love Jill Mansell, she's probably my favourite for chick lit

I am reading *silent scream* by Angela Marsons. Saw so many good reviews on it.

Thought i would bump this :)

So read quite a few books since last posted. Reading a quicky atm called ^filthy^

Just finished The Girl on The Train. One of the most addictive, page-turning books I've read for ageeeees. Highly highly recommend it! I'm now reading Gone Girl, but only about 10% in and it doesn't have such an easy flow (although heard it's very good so hopefully it will get better!) xx

I read *the girl on the train* i didnt like it. Was so bored of the same thing. I only liked the last 20% of it

I am trying to read *bad blood* by mark sennen bit cant seem to get into it

Depending on what you like to read, Hoping for Jax and the follow up of Fighting For Beth

I just finished All My Puny Sorrows, which was heart breaking, and I'm now reading Mrs Hemingway. I took a while to get into it but now I can't put it down.

I'm currently reading 'The Midnight Witch'. It's the third in a series and I've loved every single one.

I haven't read back - there are so many pages of suggestions!
I'm looking for recommendations for really easy cheesy reads (like the shopaholic series by Sophie kinsella) as I think I'm going to end up being induced at the end of the week and want some fluff read to fill my time!!
Any suggestions appreciated xx
