fila nah, I had a 'thing' with nike air max

:haha:  Me too!

I played loads of netball and would only wear nike airs for it lol

I'm actually rather sad that I can't find the same ones anymore

me too and white ones, black and yellow lol always worn with fila trainers and a wollen fila jumper lol

how times change we were happy with them and my m8s 11 yo daughter has to have everything from river island and has a designer handbag for school..dont see the problem with a head bag like i had personally:shrug::haha:

Oh god, I remember nagging for months for some Nike Airs, because for some reason I thought if you squeezed the tongue it made them fill with air. I was about 10 at the time. I barely wore them when I realised I was wrong, I was too disappointed....

i also had a pair of reebok trainers with a little bulb thing on the tongue of the trainer you could pump and inflate the tongue. These were big hi top trainers black and white in colour

high tops are in fashion now my sons currently walking round in these :haha:

Does anyone remember when Ellesse tracksuits were really 'in'....I had 2 :smug:

Ummmm sorry Lellow I don't remember when they were 'in' at all

I did go through a phase of wearing slogan t-shirts, diamante earrintgs and trucker caps though...oooh dear god

my neice was telling me about handbags being the must have school bag. we were just happy with the nike drawstring bag!!!

YES - Sweater shop... my friend had a longsleeved tshirt she bought from there and I have pics of her wearing it at my sons first birthday (he was 12 on wednesday).

.... all the other things mentioned I am too old for!!! lol!!!! - 'In My Day' it was jellybean bags at primary school and global hypercolour tshirts at senior school , black jeans with red/green patch under pockets at college. Out of the three I only had a jellybean bag.

When we moved from middlands to plymouth I got very confused. No one knew what a Jitty was (alley way) I had no idea what Muffty day was (wear your own clothes to school) Baker Day (inset day) and Mitchin - got accused of this and had no idea what it was (skiving school) I had been off sick genuinely! .. the other phrase that got me was 'where you two.... or where is (add name of friend) too' is just where are you going, where are they. Also some words that were mild swear words in plymouth were big no no's ... although now things have moved on and there barely swear words anywhere.

American things that I don't understand:-

101 - like the tv programme with matt le blanc tv101 - there seems to be alot of stuff named 101.

Brown stone - is it a design of house? or just a house made of brown stone?

am sure there are more but these are the two that spring to mind.

I love how this thread has turned into chav confessions!

The restaurant with the baker was called claim jumper. That's weird as well!!

Haha fun thread. I love the 'boots' for trunk. Don't you guys call the hood a bonnet too?
Lol I got so confused when i first heard one of you UK girls say "there was sick all over the carpet" Here we call it puke or vomit and i must say i like your version better! :haha:

Some other ones i've noticed...
dummy - pacifier
flat - apartment
holiday - vacation
bin liners - trash bags/garbage bags
jumper - sweater
frock - dress
lift - elevator (just learned that in the pet peeve thread :haha:)

trousers - pants
jelly - jello
garden - backyard
biscuit - cookie
nappy - diaper
pushchair - stroller
cot - crib
vest - onesie
fringe - bangs
boot - trunk
handbag - purse
rubbish - garbage
sofa/settee - couch
police - cops
trainers - sneakers
bumbag - fannypack
trolley - cart

Those are some differences in words I can think of!
xx

Omg that explains it lol! I was starting to wonder if everyone in the UK had a flower garden or something.
