Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Ladies, I am in agony. I have a horrible fungal infection on my chest which has got worse since like October, and now seems to be a kind of ringworm. It's all round one nipple as well as over both boobs and feeding from that boob is AGONY. Toe-curlingly painful.

I have an appointment to see a dermatologist next week but bloody hell, it hurts so much in the meantime. And she like to play with one nipple while feeding from the other - OUCH!!!

I just offered again and she looked at me like "wtf mom, ewww!" she seriously looked like she had never fed before... and I know she was wanting milk, as it had been hours since her last bottle... How long does a nursing strike last?

Becstar- Ouch :( Hope things start to heal up soon!

DF- Hope you all get over your cold quick!

Quartz im near Croydon ;)

Eve, evies NS lasted about 3 days then all if a sudden she fed

Thinking of you :hugs:

bleeugghhh! cough, sneeze, running nose., !" me nose hurts I look like Ruddolf! Its like a hospital in here :(

:hugs:

Get well soon DF

I had germs a few weeks back and it turned into a nasty head cold

Have lots of vitamin c

:flower: Hi Quartz & welcome.

Hivechild & Anna happy birthday to your LO's and congrats on your milestones :happydance:

Miss_Bump I've sent you an add on FB.

DF Kaiden has the cold too, he had a very high temp on fri nite that thankfully settled by saturday. I think he has a sore throat now too because he is sounding a bit croaky when he's yapping. I am worn out though cause he is feeding like a newborn during the night just now & I started back at work yesterday after a weeks hol. Hopefully tonight will be better. I need some

Eve :hugs: hopefully it is a NS that will pass soon.

Becstar I hope things get better for you soon once you see the dermatologist. K sometimes likes to play with a nipple when he's feeding too or stroke my side but that can be tickly :haha:

Hope everyone else are doing fine

I sure hope it is... none today either... I don't even feel full or anything going on two full days without a feed. I will try again tomorrow morning or something. She was having bottles and nursing around 2 times a day which was going well for us, and then nothing  I don't even like my siggy anymore

I realised again tonight that some of my fam and darrens have not met Alex yet. Never bothered their arses and they live near. Really am taking it personal. I know my brother is an arse and we dont speak over something he bite my head off over and shouting at my son and throwing things in our face when I was preg and darrens sis I have no idea. i think she is jealous to be honest. My parents bother more with Alex though as he laughs for them but no one else really :( sad that.

Ive not posted much on here but wanted to let you all know my son has self-weaned :(
I am in such shock and happy that I left it to his choice. But still I never thought he would self wean! I was hoping to make it to 2 years but this is how its happened I guess.

x

I haven't popped in here for a few days so thought I'd say hi!

Hivechild, Anna- Congrats on the latest milestones!! And happy late birthday to your LOs!!

Becstar- Congrats hun!!! That's amazing news. I'm so jealous. :D Sorry about your skin issues. I hope the doc can help clear it up quickly for you. Emma likes to play with the opposite nipple too. It's irritating and I don't even have pain issues right now. :dohh:

Eve- I hope this isn't it for you, but if it is..this is the goal we all set out for. To have our babies self wean. Some decide to do it earlier than others. All I can say is just keep trying. If not, I hope you realize how incredibly proud you should be for getting this far. :hugs:

celine- Well done on 19 months!! You should be proud too! Self weaning is what I'm sure most of us are striving for. :D:hugs:

I know how you feel DF :( FIL doesn't bother with Evie but it's his loss and I'm quite glad we don't see him much

The cashier in Sainsburys commented on how good and content Evie was yesterday. She was babbling to her cuddly sheep :cloud9: so proud of my girl

Eve - I know exactly how you feel Sophia self weaned around the same age (although I hope it is just a nursing strike for you). He arctions were similar to what you have described, looking at my boob as if it was an lien creature that she had never seen before, biting etc. My advice would be to set yourself a liit for how long you are going to keep offering boob for. I found offering and Sophia refusing really upsetting, which you are too, so I feel for your own sanity that you can't go on indefinitely offering. I set myself a 2 week limit and by the end of the two weeks I did feel a bit better about her refusing still as it was her choice. But I do now how upsetting it is honey :hugs:

Mum2J&Kx2 :hugs:

Celine, hope you're feeling ok with it - you've done great :)

Hi

Thanks everyone for the welcome - feeling much better today I find sometimes that extended breastfeeding with the goal of self weaning can be quite lonely so its really nice to find somewhere to talk about it!

Lynnikins we are in stoneleigh so not far from chessington at all

grrrrr!

Again.... refused.... day 3 with no boobie...

I don't want this to be the end! I wanted her to have momma's milk until at least 2 :(

I know if she doesn't want to continue, nothing I can do, as pumping isn't an option but I feel like I am letting her down kwim?

I think I will stop offering come Friday, as we are going away for the first time over night Saturday anyways.. not that I want to :( I don't even want to go away now, I don't know what to think... Geesh, why is this so hard?? I mean making it to 13.5 months is great but  well I am sure you understand. She was such a booby baby I really didn't think she would wean for a long time. Up until I started giving bottles she nursed still 4-6 times a day or more. Now I feel I shouldn't have given her the bottles  ugh! This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
