Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

aob- I swear you just hit 10,000 posts last week. :haha: You're a chatty girl!! ;)

Congrats Nimbus!

Eve - I hope that it's just a temporary think for her but I think Shiv said it beautifully if she has decided that she's ready to wean. :hugs:

Flobo - I find that when Ronan's cutting a new tooth, until he gets used to it being there I usually end up with one side (generally my left as well) getting sore from it. Hopefully it's nothing serious for you.

Still nothing, even tried when sleepy and comfy... nothing. She looks at me like she hasn't a clue what I am doing offering her a boob haha
With all the stress and stuff going on, no wonder she isn't wanting boobie... :(

I have a small question :flower: Kailee still breastfeeds 3-5 times a day (more on weekends as shes in daycare 5 days) then feeds 2 times a night I don't mind as we co-sleep. Any way I still have not introduced milk. Should I? she gets cheese and yogurt and other dairy. TBH the whole introducing milk makes me feel kind of nervous :nope: I want to breast feed till at least 18 months

I think it's entirely up to you. It's not necessary if her calcium, fat etc. needs are being met otherwise in her diet and for as long as you're both happy with the frequency of nursing.

Maybe you could try giving her an ounce or two at lunch time as a drink and see how she likes it if you want too make sure that if it ever comes to it and your want here drinking it she'll take it. Ronan's had it in cereal for ages now so I'm not fussed one way or the other myself right now.

purple kiwi- It's really your call. Emma very rarely has cows milk but she has cheese and yogurt quite often and also about 6 times a day she still has booby. She does have the occasional sip of my milk. I usually have milk for every breakfast and every dinner. :flower:

Thomas doesn't really like cow's milk despite being offered it pretty regularly. He will occasionally have a sip. He does have milk on his cereal and I try to give him yoghurt most days and he loves cheese. I do worry a bit about him not drinking milk but I guess he is getting the nutrients from elsewhere.

Kaiden usually gets a small cup of warm milk in the morning with his breakfast. Some days he gulps it down (traitor!) and other days he just pours it out on his tray  He's quite into cheese at the moment but doesn't eat loads of it - doesn't really eat loads of much :nope:

Hivechild- yeah harry's working on his molars right now, so it's probably that making me a bit sore. It's been better today, luckily.

purple kiwi, somedays i give Harry cow's milk, somedays I don't. He has it on his cereal, and eats cheese, yogurts, fromage frais etc everyday (he's a Frube addict at the moment!) so i figure so long as he's drinking water & BM, then the cow's milk isn't a necessity? He only ever drinks a few mouthfuls at a time & has never had more than 100ml over the course of a day.... tbh, I'm not even convinced he likes it :dohh: but I offer it to him anyway! I just gave him his first cup of super weak orange squash last week & he downed the whole 9oz sippy cup in 10 minutes, which is a first for him! I was so shocked! So at least i know he likes something else other than boob!!! :lmao:

Q: do any of you ladies use like a soft carrier on your back with your LOs? I have a P&T's metro carrier, which is great, but quite bulky, so i've been looking at soft, light weight ones for the summer for me & harry to go out n about in, but they seem soooo pricey! I love the Rose & rebellion style ones, but no way can I afford £74! I can hardly afford £40 & all the ones I like on ebay are too girly for my little boy!!! any advice from any of you would be awesome?!

I use the babyhawk for back carrying. I was originally using the regular babyhawk but I just bought the oh snap. But it's a bit expensive. It's amazing though if you can find one cheap somewhere like ebay.

Well, I think we are done ladies... when I offer it's pushing away, fussing, slapping, biting, just doesn't seem interested anymore. I can't believe my blinkie won't change again...

Going out for the night tomorrow night though, staying in a hotel after we visit Jake and having some drinks and couple time.. it will be nice but I feel sooooo sick thinking of leaving Kayleigh overnight. I know she will be fine, and my SIL has been given the rule book, but still... I feel sick!

Oh and K doesn't have cows milk anymore, she has formula as the cows milk was constipating her quite bad.. and she was sooo tiny they thought the extra stuff would be better for her.

purplekiwi - my LO is about the same age as yours. I tried introducing cows milk a few weeks ago and he just spits it out, I've also tried rice milk and almond milk - also no success. Even EBM in the sippy cup was met with disgust. So I've given up and will try cows milk again in a few months time.

He has booby about 5 times a day and drinks sips of water throughout the day. And he eats a fair bit of cheese and yoghurt.

We even went through a stage a little while back where he only nursed twice a day for a few minutes and drank water (ate loads of solids though). It doesn't seem to have done him any harm.

I had the same worry as you - but honestly I think if your LO is still having booby and eats a bit of dairy you've got nothing to worry about
