Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Hi ladies.

Just to pop in here to say hello!

I cant believe I have hit 30 weeks without any problems.

Eala: Congratulations for your BFP! When are you due? I suspect around March? I didnt go back on pills or injections or anything to prevent me from getting pregnant after decided to come off it say at least 5 years before Billy was born, the injection does my head in after getting painful cramping in my tummy every time. I didnt want to go back on pill because I always forgetting to take it. So no protections at all for me all those years after came off the injections. And will never have any of protections for myself so it is up to my hubby as its his responsible to pull out!! :haha: He wanted to have his part snip after this baby born and I told him no, because he will feel regret later in the life if he had it done and dont feel manly IYKWIM? And also I might wanted another one in the future in hope to get a girl?

Milosmummy: Hope you are able to hold of that coordinator to sort out your appointment for Milo.

LittleKitten: Ooh, hope date goes well with your new fella? You sounds like you are having a very busy week?

Plague has hit me - cough has caught me off guard again!! 3rd time in this pregnancy!! Dont know how or who did I catch it off! I hope I will get better before baby born, it had be!

A question for you ladies: how do you punish your child if they are being naughty? The reason I am asking is that I know myself is deaf and will have communication problems between me and Billy even mean that my voice is not crystal clear. When he being naughty and i told him off and he then think its funny! :dohh:

Anyway, am off for my nap and Billy will have his nap now and I'm trying to recovering from this nasty cough.

Bye bye ladies have a nice day to you all xxxx

Nanaki I think it's an age thing laughing when being told off, we get it ALL the time.

ooooh all these bumps about makes me broody

Gah, Missy laughs at me too and tells me "no!" when she's being bad. Makes me just wanna shove my foot up her arse! lol.

I ask her to do something, for example, go get her water bottle, or come to me so I can change her butt. 9/10 she tells me "no!" laughs and runs off. I ask her again, the 3rd time I make my voice more stern and tell her if she doesn't come she will go to time out. Most the time that will work.

If after that she still is being a little turd monkey I'll tell her to go to time out (She has a little chair at the bottom of the stairs) This is enough for her to be totally devastated and her world crumble around her! She'll sit there boo-ing (She has 1 minute right now), I'll go to her and tell her why she's there, give her a hug and then she'll do what I ask.

I think its just natural at this age, they are testing their boundaries and asserting their independence and trying to drive us to drink :)

I do a similar thing to Chaos re discipline, but we have a small additional problem thrown in - he will NOT sit on the step when put there. He just stands up and tries to walk away, so we get to the point where I'm pushing him down on the stairs so he won't stand up - this sounds worse than it looks! Thing is, if we put him there and then just let him walk away, surely that means he then thinks he's 'got away with it', so we have to be quite tough. And yeah, he laughs and thinks it's a huge game.

Ok, so what have i missed? :)

How is everyone? i haven't been on here in ages!

all's ok at my end; I'm 14 1/2 weeks pregnant & other than crappy sickness, it's going fine.

Harry's doing great; lots of speech & cuddles. So far no tantrums or anything, and he is for the most part, a little angel. (which probably means he's gonna be a teenager from hell, lol) We've also started switching over to cloth nappies, which is cool, ready to use them on this next one.

pretty crazy than in like 3 months, all the Bumpkins will have turned 2. where's the time gone???!!!

Thankyou to those of you who asked after me; i'm fine, just been sooooo lazy with coming on here & spending way too much time on facebook. Kate, yep, i've been joining tons of random parenting groups on FB, lol. I really want to go a more natural, positive route when harry hits the 'terrible twos' (which i'm pretty sure will be inevitable at some point?!) so I'm reading & learning all i can. Don't agree with everything out there, but I figure the more styles i know, the bigger my 'kit bag' will be when i have to deal with things so i can find out what works, what doesn't, what is least developmentally damaging, without being too permissive or too harsh.... makes for some, ummmm, interesting discussions in life, anyway!!!!

 FloraBean. Fab to have you back. Hope you stick around this time - we've all missed you :flower:

awww, thanks Colsy. I stayed away from computers for a while due to awful morning sickness, then we were on holiday & stuff, then i was on facebook all the time (my iphone has a lot to answer for!) and then just got lazy. But yep, i promise to check in more often on here & catch up with how you're all doing! :flower:

Nanaki I hope you feel better soon :hugs: Yes I am due in March :) The 13th, all going well! Although my dates might be out, I'm going by my last bleed but not sure if the mini pill means that is wrong or not!

Roo doesn't often laugh if I tell her off, she's more likely to throw an absolute tantrum :dohh: She sometimes giggles if I try putting her in timeout - I don't think she really "gets" it. Oh the joys of toddlers, eh?

Florabean Nice to see you back! And congratulations on your BFP! :hugs: Nice to have another fluffy bum in the Bumpkins too ;)

Well I did eventually get some work done. Still got a heck of a lot to do, but I'll get there :coffee:

Flora: welcome bk and congrats for your bfp!!!

Thanks to ladies who has answered my questions. :) xxxx

Time out and naughty spot isnt working for us so after a warning I confiscate a toy, this is working really well but he's still full on cheeky.

Hows the fluffy bums going Flora, ive slipped recently and only managing semi fluffiness :(

oooh we no have lots of kisses and cuddles, wet sloppy kisses he runs to me for :)

LK: Hope date no. 3 goes well, it sounds good and hope everything works out well, its more about personality than age! Hope James' appointment went well and nothing too serious :flower:

Nanaki: I pretty much do as Chaos and Colsy do, she can be a monkey and also laugh, she gets what I call a 'cheeky imp look' in her eye too. If she is still being cheeky a time out usually sorts her out, she seems to think I won't go through with it and then is pretty devastated when I do and she soon snaps out of it. I usually get down to her level to give her the warnings so I suppose if you keep the actions the same, even if your voice isn't the same each time then that could help? I'm not saying you should get down to his level at 30wks pregnant tho! :hugs: :haha: :flower:

Chloe must of known Nij is away, I have told her but, you know. Anyways, on the way home she reached out to this random man for a hug saying 'Daddy' - which is not her at all, my heart went for her bless. I got him to phone her when we were in to speak to her and to say good night as every time my phone went with a text she shouted 'Dada' when it was just my friend :dohh: She only ever shows she cares when he isn't around, ironic really!

Argh, looks like I need to make some new tickers, I have no idea why that happened!

kaites - lol. that's always how it goes for me too. i have it with me all the time and rarely forget it. but this time i do!

taylors- we're going thruogh the same thing right now too :hugs:

an update, got an appt on the 25th at 1 :)

Morning ladies  If any of you have any energy going spare, send it my way! :coffee: Had a rotten night with Roo yesterday, no idea what was going on. I'm thinking maybe last teeth, but it's so rare that I get a look/finger in her mouth to know for sure! Her routine has been so messed up since we came back from holiday on Saturday, that's not helping. She woke up at her normal time today though, and is off to nursery, so hopefully things will settle down again.

Fraggles - awww toddler hugs and kisses are so cute (if somewhat wet)! Random question - did you use cloth from the word go on either baby? I'm trying to work out whether to use eco-sposies for the first few weeks, then see how my BTP stash works, or whether to get specific cloth. I was actually thinking bamboo terries + wraps (or maybe fitted, but terries are cheaper!). I suppose I should ask in NP, but I'm also not really wanting to get too ahead of myself

Kte - I had an "aww" moment at Chloe reaching out to a random person for a hug! That's so sweet. When is Nij back? (Sorry if you've said it somewhere else, brain is not working today )

MilosMummy - Glad to hear you got an appointment - not too long to wait either! :)

We started as soon as the mecuonium (sorry cant spell that lol) had gone so a couple of weeks. I found sposies easier at night though.

I have tried most types of nappies I didnt like prefolds but loved sized (great for chicken legs) and love btp (great for money saving)

hows it going milosmummy?

Forgot to say adam proposed when he toke me new york for my 21st bday :) a week away with no babies!!...bliss...lol

Morning all,

Eala: He is back Friday so he's not away for too long but with his shifts and that she hasn't seen him since Tuesday evening.

Hope Roo has a good day at nursery and settles back into her routine :flower:

Morning!

Chaos- the wording of your discipline post cracked me up

Flora- Nice to see you around again! :flower: Just out of curiousity, which cloth diapers are you using with Harry? Hope you are enjoying using them- I'm a little sad that Emma's started to potty train since I love her fluffy bum

taylorsmummy- congrats on the engagement!

Milosmommy- Glad to hear you got your appt sorted!

Nanaki- We do pretty much the same as the others with discipline too- warnings, a time-out, etc. Like Colsy though, for the longest time, Emma wouldn't sit in time out though. With her, I had to put her in a pack n play in the other room for a few minutes for her to just chill out. Sounds terrible banishing her to another room, but her acting out is usually from frustration with her little friends, so she needs the separation from them to cool down. Now she's okay with the bottom step for time out (not that she needs it very often atm- she's more into tantrums than getting into trouble iykwim). Hope you find a way to make it work for you and Billy if you decide to use TOs :flower:

Kte- Aww- hope Chloe enjoyed her phone call to Nij :flower: Not too much longer til he's back though, right? That's got me wondering how things are going to go for us next week with hubby...

Fraggles- your post about meconium made me laugh- Emma must have been a super-pooper, lol :) All of hers was out by the time we left the hospital on day 3 :haha: Gosh it feels like ages ago that the Bumpkins were all coming home from hospital and we were talking about windy/colicky babies!

Eala- I hope Roo settles back into her routine for you soon :flower: We used bamboo fitteds with Emma when we got back from hospital at the start- I found we were going through wayyyyy too many covers with prefolds (poop on them at every change- my snappi-ing skills weren't very good back then!).

Hope everyone is having a good day! :hugs: to those that need them :)
