Party wise, we never do a party actually on her birthday because it is Halloween and so people are usually busy with that, so we normally go out for the day just us 3 (well 4now
) and do something special. We normally just do some nibbles and a cake affair for family and her god parents the Sunday before her Birthday. That's all we have ever done and she loves it.
I don't really class this as a proper party, we have booked it on the 25th (She has one to go to on the 9th and a Halloween themed fancy dress birthday party to go to on the 20th). Its just at a soft play place, with a few party games thrown in. I dunno, I'm old fashioned, I think a party as having a few friends over to play party games at our house or hiring a hall and doing it all myself. Or a sleep over when she is about 12. Thats a proper party to me. So this is a bit of a weird one. I'm more looking forward to her actual birthday and the family party. I'm going to be very much like my sister and only have one party every few years as well!
I don't think they get it either, well sheis just learning since she has been to a few, two this year since July. I don't think she would mind if she missed out. Like I say, I think its just more because she will be leaving after Christmas and a lot of her friend, especially Thomas, have been with her since about 4 months old. So its more us being mushy, and a good chance to get to know parents better and keep in touch with a few for her.
We are taking her to a Halloween party on the 27th at a Dairy nearby with Thomas, its free entry with a disco and fancy dress competition, up on a farm. Sounds really good fun!
