Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Ladies - I have my first cold of the winter. I am not a happy bunny and I am still unsure exactly where I got it from. Hubby is a day behind me so he obviously got it from me, and Earl is showing signs. Thankfully Eddy isn't showing signs (yet) so hopefully I'll be recovered by the time he is taken ill. Seems I have the worst immune system in the world!! :growlmad:

How are we all? Hope all the birthday preparation is going well. UK ladies, tesco have got a rather good sale on toys at the moment! Was in there yesterday and saw a few things I'd like to get for the boys at pretty reasonable prices too.

Feel better soon Aimee :flower: I had a nasty cold last week, get lots of vit c down you, it seemed to work wonders for me! Hopefully will for you too, I think its just that lovely time of year when the lurgi starts to spread! :flower:

Thanks for the Tesco sale tip!

We have kind of caved in and booked Chloe a birthday party - as well as doing one for family like we had originally planned ages ago! Suddenly little miss keeps on getting party invites, these parents are too keen! I thought this wouldn't happen until School time  I found the perfect place, only for it to be closed down :dohh: So we have ended up at another place. I feel a bit of a copy cat since her best friend is having his party there next week but there aren't really any other decent places, with a decent price tag! To be fair, she will be leaving early next year so I think its another reason why we are doing it for her. Mad I know, completely and utterly!

We're not doing a party for Earl as we're pretty certain he'll be leaving soon to start a new school so other things to worry about, plus another one of his friends is having a halloween party actually on his birthday - bonus! lol :haha: It is mad that these little 3 year olds have parties (Earl went to a 3rd birthday last year just before he turned 2) - they don't really know what's going on half the time lol. Are you going to make Chloe's a fancy dress or anything with it being halloween or are you going to keep the 2 separate?

I really hope it clears up quickly. Hubby is fine today but Eddy has now started to get a temp. Given him some calpol and sent him off with Hubby to drop the dog off with MIL. Unfortunately we have the landlords coming tomorrow to inspect the house so I have a mountain of housework to do (hence why I've been left behind lol). Thankfully they shouldn't be back much before 7, so I should have time to get it all done and maybe sneak in a bath and a cheeky episode of friends! lol

Aimee- hope you guys feel better :hugs: we're getting sick over here as well :dohh: hubby and Ava seem fine. Just me and milo right now

Kte- hope you can get the party planned quickly! I only did a party for Milo's first birthday. Last year we just did dinner/cake/presents with immediate family. Will do the same again this year. I assume milo doesn't know the difference, lol.

Er, surprise visit ... baby came seven weeks early. In HDU/SCBU but doing everything he should be doing for his gestation. No idea when we'll be home though - could still be several weeks. Update you when I get time in a few ...

Party wise, we never do a party actually on her birthday because it is Halloween and so people are usually busy with that, so we normally go out for the day just us 3 (well 4now :haha:) and do something special. We normally just do some nibbles and a cake affair for family and her god parents the Sunday before her Birthday. That's all we have ever done and she loves it.

I don't really class this as a proper party, we have booked it on the 25th (She has one to go to on the 9th and a Halloween themed fancy dress birthday party to go to on the 20th). Its just at a soft play place, with a few party games thrown in. I dunno, I'm old fashioned, I think a party as having a few friends over to play party games at our house or hiring a hall and doing it all myself. Or a sleep over when she is about 12. Thats a proper party to me. So this is a bit of a weird one. I'm more looking forward to her actual birthday and the family party. I'm going to be very much like my sister and only have one party every few years as well!

I don't think they get it either, well sheis just learning since she has been to a few, two this year since July. I don't think she would mind if she missed out. Like I say, I think its just more because she will be leaving after Christmas and a lot of her friend, especially Thomas, have been with her since about 4 months old. So its more us being mushy, and a good chance to get to know parents better and keep in touch with a few for her.

We are taking her to a Halloween party on the 27th at a Dairy nearby with Thomas, its free entry with a disco and fancy dress competition, up on a farm. Sounds really good fun!

That halloween party sounds like fun. Last year I took Earl on a halloween train ride which was provided by the council. It was actually really good fun and Earl loved it! Being just turned 2 a train was the most exciting thing in the world. :haha:

Earl now has the cold. i'm over the worst now thank god but yesterday was a nightmare. i'm glad they went off without me as it gave me a chance to lie still for 2 hours and recover lol. :haha: Earl is currently laid on the sofa under his duvet watching Cbeebies with a temp and a bad runny nose so I think it's going to be a fun night. Eddy is sleepy too (I suppose that's a good thing given the fact that Earl is ill) but I'm worried as he has been growling all morning so I think he has a sore throat. Oh well.

Landlords visit went ok. They want us to sign in for another year but this house is so small hubby and I desperately want to move.On the other hand it costs next to nothing to run this house, and if we worked hard we could stay put for a while. Have until the 18th to decide. Need to call for some viewings really.

Quickie question. What's your bumpkin's room like at the moment? I'm in the planning stages of doing Earl's room up as at the moment it's a scruffy hotch potch. Can't decide on the theme - options are Toy Story, Cars, Diggers/Vehicles or Thomas. Would rather avoid Thomas - think it's overdone but if he wants it then who am I to argue lol.

Oh dear Aimee! Hope everyone feels better soon and its not a huge pass-a-round! :flower:

Hope you manage to figure out the house dilemma.

Chloe's room is pretty much as it always has been, yellow walls, still the same border from when she was a baby (tigger). Its just got some photo's on the wall of her with family or pictures she has done. Plus some numbers and abc cards I swap around from time to time. I'm not really going to change it at the moment, maybe when she is older. We will most likely have a room re-jig if we can get the loft converted and do her a proper room then in a few years time.

When I was little i had a plain room with one feature wall (care bare wall paper :haha:) Maybe if its Thomas you could do something like that so it's not over done as much?

Aimee the kids bedroom here is painted white they have a cream carpet and a big blue rug, their beds are white wood and they have book/toy cupboards with rolling boxes in blue wood. Other than that its pretty plain. Most bedding we have is blue and white too so no theme here.

I think I'm going to do something similar fraggles - we need all new everything for him so thinking if we get everything neutral/plain then add little touches like pictures, blankets, clocks, lamps etc which can be changed as he gets older. He seems to be a bit toy story obsessed at the moment (has asked for a buzz lightyear toy for his birthday lol) so think we may go for that. Bonus is of course if we go for neutral then it's half the price of the licensed stuff lol.

Cold has now passed to Eddy. So now have me coughing all the time, Earl snotty as anything and Eddy is unable to lie down as he can't breathe. We're not in a good way!

One good thing though, I have just purchased a rocking reindeer for Eddy for Christmas. :D Should be £70, currently £35 in the shops, got it for £10 off a friend on facebook!
