Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

How was everyone's Christmas :flower:

Really lovely :) Baby's first Xmas and Monty's FOURTH! How has that happened so fast? We had a ball, really loved it all. All still on hols now, as it's OH's bday tomorrow (new year's day!), but bit of a blip in that Monty, baby and I have all had lurgy since boxing day - we've had super high temps, 38.8c at one point! Seem to be on the mend now thank goodness - it really shook us up as we're not ill very often.

Gotta go, hungry baby (how do they sense the computer being on or lunch being served :dohh:?)

Glad it's been lovely, shame you've all been ill and hope your all on the mend now x

Happy new year for tomorrow and hope hubby has a great birthday! :flower:

I dunno why babies have the 'mum is going to try and switch off for 1min' sense, little monkies!

On balance it's been nice. Christmas Eve was Dad's funeral and it was hectic as well as sad as we had to drive across the country at 5am in the worst weather ever, but we got there and did it. We were home again by 4pm so got to do all the Christmas Eve lovliness with Earl and Eddy. When did it get to being Earl's (and the other Bumpkin's) 4th Christmas? Earl really got it this year - tracked Santa on NORAD and put out mince pies. Only bad thing was he woke on Christmas Day asking how many sleeps 'til Christmas and really wasn't excited about his presents - just wanted his breakfast as normal lol.:dohh: Eddy loved his too - he had a full on Christmas Dinner, sprouts'n'all lol.

Since then it's been quiet and we've just ticked along at home. Not really had the cash or the energy to do much else. It's been what we've all needed but I'm still feeling delicate in all manners but that's the be expected I think and I need to give myself a break - difficult with 2 smallies on the go lol. I have promised myself I will have a 'day off' this week though as Hubby is back to Uni on the 7th so I have to do it this week lol :haha:

Happy New Year to everyone! Jools Holland was brilliant last night - loved Paloma Faith and Jake Bugg, as well as Dexy's Midnight Runners! Treated ourselves to an Indian and basically had a right good time. Shattered this morning (boys were up at 7.30 ).

Happy New Year all. We had a lovely Christmas, both kids understood quite well with N really getting into the spirit of it all. Just preparing for J's birthday on Sunday now. Just need to buy wrapping paper. presents and cards all bought (love the sales!)

Happy New Year all :flower:

:hugs: for your dads funeral Aimee, I can imagine that was a tough day for you xx my nan passed away on Christmas Eve, kinda made it an odd day but it was still nice in the evening too getting Chloe ready for Santa. I am upset she's gone but my mum said she was ready herself, she was 91 and had become quite ill, so much so she was on morphine yet they wouldn't test her to find out what it was causing her pain as they wouldn't of operated with her being so frail even if they did know and the tests would of been stressful too since she had Alzheimer's.

I know what you mean about a rest being practically impossible Aimee! Hope you can fit one in. I've purposely tried to rest as much as possible and nij has let me, he's been great doing the cooking etc which I feel a tad guilty about as he is the one working through Christmas and new year too - but then again he's enjoyed it too so I'm not feeling too guilty!

Seems like the next few months will be busy, dissertation to complete, sort Chloe a new pre-school, tie things up at work, sort out the bedroom which is a tip due to DIY and finally get some baby things sorted! I have a gestational diabetes test tomorrow at 9.30 so have to get miss moo and me to the. Hospital by bus. Not looking to the starving from midnight part . . . Well at least I can have water!

Chloe has absolutely loved Christmas (despite asking when she can go back to school!) she still keeps singing her nativity songs. I don't think she's going to be impressed when the decorations come down!

Fraggles - always the bonus of a January birthday! My nephews is at the end of the month but you can get some great things because of the sales for them :)

Thanks Kte - sorry to hear about your Gran. It's very odd to say the least, the feeling of having a reason to be so happy and yet another one to be so sad. Hope you're all ok.

I just managed to flit away and had a 3 hour nap (along side Eddy lol) and have woken up without toothache for the first time in nearly a week! :happydance: Yay!

Hi ladies, just a quick 'message' from Chloe:

:baby: :cold: :cold: :cold: :xmas8:

If we caught the egg this month my edd will be October 13th  can't believe the kids will be 4 this year

How long have you been TTC? :flower:

I know . . . thankfully a while off but it seriously has flown!

this is our first month of trying. not trying extremely hard (with the BD'ing timing). so just hoping the laid back approach works

Fraggles what are you like!

You have done well to hold on for so long then Milo's Mummy :)

Excited, nervous, sad about tomorrow - we are going to look at two pre-schools in the morning for Chloe. Hopefully one will have space for her come April and also that we like and she does too!! Argh, wish I could either take the whole house and plant it near her pre-school now OR bring the pre-school here! She has so many friends there, I know she will make more but still, they are her first friends, some she has grown up with since being 5 months old. She has already been to 1 birthday party this year, has been invited to one on Sunday (which we may make but are in Boro for her cousin's party Say) and two the weekend after. Seriously she has a bigger social life than me. They all know Chloe, social butterfly she is - takes after her Dad at being good at that! So anyway, new pre-school time! Eep! I just hope she is happy! We shall see tomorrow!

oooh Congratulations MilosMummy (well, hopefully :flower:) - we were so laid back that we didn't even realise we could be PG until I took a test on a whim and whammo - LINES! lol

Kte - Don't worry about Chloe. She will soon settle in at a new place. Just try to keep in touch with some of her old friends at least for a while. I speak as someone who went to 11 primary schools in 6 years! I will be moving Earl in September - either to the local nursery pre-school attached to the primary school, or to the one next door to the school. Depends which one has places. I've applied to start a part time college course in September - I know I'm mad as baby is due July/Aug so may only be a few weeks old, but hubby can cope lol. It's only p/t so the children will hopefully all go to the childminder from the end of Sept, who does pickups etc at the school, and her daughter, whom Earl has known since 15 months, will also be going so he'll have at least 1 friend. I'm actually quite excited for him. All his little friends from his current pre-school are all in the year above so are all leaving to go to proper school this year anyway, so he'll miss them anyway as they are all going to different schools than he will eventually go to.

How are you doing Kte? You're quite far along now aren't you? I hope you're keeping well. :flower:

I also can't quite believe that the kids are 4 this year - they've only just turned 3 though so I console myself that he's still only really 2 and 15 months lol. Eddy is 8 months old on Sunday - he's so big now, and is really trying hard to get mobile. He's got 2 more weeks until Earl will have beaten him. So far he's not let Earl have a milestone lol. He's done everything first so I think he'll be at least trying so hard the next week or 2 lol. I'm also 30 this year and will (all being well) be a mum of 3 before that happens. Eeeek! It's crazy scary.

:haha: Yes I agree Aimee, it's much nicer thinking they are the younger side of 3.

Yep, I know she will be fine, especially friend wise. Many of hers are older and are starting School soon or are already going to the pre-schools attached to their schools as the nursery does a drop off. We have a few numbers to meet up for play dates too when the time comes  I was more worried about how the actual place is too, as the nursery she is at is really good, I know lots of places are but we knew we couldn't compare where we she was going to where she is now otherwise we wouldn't be happy! It was funny as the place we had set on actually turned out to not be the one we sent her too! Always the way! They had an infants room and a pre-school room as as Chloe is a Bumpklin she would of been held back a year before going to pre-school. Which is daft for us as she is already there and in the routine (lining up to wash hands etc) so it would be like sending her back a year. Chloe was really ready to move up when the time came so it just seemed daft to send her somewhere where she would be retricted compered to how she is now. The second place she loved, she askes to go play there now! We took her in and she had a little play and suddenly we turned around and all the kids were sat on the mat ready for story time and there was little Chloe, at the front, happily joining in

Good luck with the course Aimee! What are you wanting to study? I'm sure hubby will be fine and he's repaying the favour whilst you look after them at when his is at Uni ;)

Pregnancy is going fine, we are still team :yellow: I ache all over and I am tired, the usual 3rd tri fun! (Or full pregnancy fun!!) Only 53 days to go (and 28 working days to go )

Aww that's always nice when they just get on with a place. Hopefully she'll be excited to go when the time comes

I'm going to be studying to become a veterinary nursing assistant, with the eventual aim of being a vet nurse. I have to start at the bottom (as is always the way lol) and can't really do anything work experience wise with being pregnant. Hubby is still at Uni, but if I don't do it this year, then it will never get done or I will have to do it distance which is most definitely plan b as I want that practical hands on side of a college course. He is going into 3rd year, but we'll work the kids around me and hopefully I can make it so I'm studying 2 days a week, working 1-2 days a week and then at home the rest of the time which is no different to if I was working 3-4 days a week.

Scan tomorrow.....so excited. I bet you're looking forward to finishing work. For me that's the big milestone as at that point you can actually start to feel marginally human again lol. I'm still out of work but I am still looking (will be until April) but tbh, I could quite happily stay at home lol.

Got two bfps this morning

Kte- have you picked a place for Chloe? Glad she's liked the last one. Always good when they're excited to go!

Aimee- being a vet nurse would be great. I always wanted to be a vet when I was younger (would still love it). But I know I'd get way too emotionally attached to the animals :haha: good luck with your course and hope all goes well :flower:

How did the scan go Aimee? :flower: I'd love to be a Vet / Vet nurser too. I used to love treating all the animals in the pet store. The vet gave us a 'treat' of disecting a rabbit that had died from bloat so we got to see all it's insides. Plus, i'm used to the massive chest freezer with all the unfortunate animals that didn't make it, an Alsation was a shocker. Not nice as I love animals but I could seem to cope with it. I'm a first aider at work and I know people wise I couldn't be dealing with any of it! Only think I hated was seeing a hamster put to sleep, it's supposed to be kind but the thing was trying to escape. Bless it. Good luck though

Congratualtion's Milo's Mummy! Wishing you lots of sticky :dust: :hugs:

We have found a place for her  She is excited to go but I don't think she realised it is then it for her current place  We told her best friends Mum yesterday and she isn't going to mention it to him, they are worried about how upset he will be! Although obv we will still have play dates, they have spend the last 3 years together pretty much so I'm sure its going to be weird for them both.
