Bit of advice girls. I took a £10 deposit for 2 cakes (£5 each) last weekend with less than a week to go the lady cancelled. The same lady wanted a birthday cake for this coming weekend which is the other £5 deposit I took. She transferred the money yesterday for the rest of this cake minus the £10 she paid for the 2 cake deposits.

I asked her to pay the extra £5 as it was for the deposit of the other cake which was none refundable. I have been and bought all the ingredients today including the icing and boards etc. She has then sent me an email tonight after I have bought everything saying she can not afford to pay the extra £5 and would like to cancel.

Now what should I do? Should I refund her even though I've already bought everything to do it or not? Xx

That is a toughy! I'd be tempted to do as Andrea suggested. I think you should increase your non refundable deposit too. Will help if this ever happens again.

I'm going to contact her and explain that I have bought the ingredient and I will refund her money minus the ingredients but minus the ingredients it will probably only be a few pound!! Xx
