Thanks hun, Jac came to my rescue on msn!

I did 4 eggs and equivalent stuff. It's cooking now, so we'll see!

Can i use the electric whisk for buttercream too, or am i going to have icing sugar from head to foot of kitchen lol?

lol yeah u can use electric whisk, but use a deep bowl LOL it does tend to cause nice big sweet clouds in the kitchen LOL

do you think there will be long term effects of inhaling the amount of icing sugar that we all do?!

Tracey, when you make the turret bits of your castles, do you lay the sponge over and sort of roll them up iykwim?!

The panic has begun!
I am making all the bits and pieces for it tonight, (flowers/butterflies) pansies for my easter cakes
Think I am going to attempt a black forrest Gateau at the weekend

andrea...yeah there is!! LOL my nan made wedding cakes and she used to get cold like symptoms if she inhaled too much!! ive had it twice! now i have to look away when tipping the icing sugar in...i look so daft!!

yeah, i cut the icing to size, put the sponges in a line and roll them up :)
i have a castle cake to do soon, for twins

mmmm i LOVE black forest gateau!!

im only doing easter cupcakes at OH request, not doin nout special, just choc with mini eggs on top!!

I bought some mini eggs just incase I end up making some!! Got some really teeny chocolate eggs from asda the other day too!

I dunno what to do with the spire bits of the turrets, do you know what bit I mean? ! LOL!

The white bits on yours where you have twisted them a bit, do you make them from sponge then cover, or do you use ice cream cones......... or do you make the whole thing out of fondant?!

Im doing easter cupcakes too for the family instead of easter eggs :) Im debating doing mars bar ones though coz I found a recipe online that looks really nice & simple too  but they're not as easter - y as the mini egg ones I was going to do before!

I was going to do half lemon with lemon icing & sugar daisys, and half chocolate with mini eggs & chocolate icing but now Im not so sure! x

I just nearly fainted at the price of shipping a product from the Dr Oetker site!

Morning I've come for Some beginners advice from you talented people! I've loved baking for a long time ad I want to start baking and icing cakes but have none of the tools apart from an oven to do so! So my question to you, is what do I need to buy as essentials to start having a go? Then I can set to buying stuff bit by bit and join in the fun :)
I would say a good set of electric scales, and electric mixer, also I bought this icing bag set https://www.craftcompany.co.uk/acatalog/Tubes2.html
a couple of multi purpose bowls and I would say you are set to go

My friend makes fantastic cakes and she has just pointed me to this site
https://www.cakecraftworld.co.uk/index.asp haven't had a good luck yet but what I did notice is the cupcake boxes seem cheaper

I think ive had a look at that site before, dont think theyve got as much selection if i remember rightly?

Just got some cupcakes cooling while i sit down and eat for the first time today, had a bash at Oreo ones, using the same style icing as Whoppy used (forgive me if it wasnt you and it was someone else lol) ... so we'll see hwo they turn out!!

Girlies, i have to go out and havent rolled icing for top of cake. is it best in fridge or on counter for few hours???

The icing or the cake? Icing on the counter, wrapped, cake in the fridge

Ok so i made my oreo ones, they taste delicous BUT they were a nightmare to pipe with the 1M nozzle, bits kept getting stuck :hissy: so i got pissed off after 6 and flat iced the rest, but those ones look WACK
