Canadian Moms & Moms to be!

 Not really a soap opera person here

anyone have anything fun planned for the day? Nothing much going on here. I have some apples and pears that really need to be used so I think I'm going to do some baking this morning and hopefully take the kiddo out to the playground after that

We're taking Claire to "school", leaving in a few minutes. Its really helping with her speech, it counteracts part of how upset she is when we leave her there. I was so proud of her last night, she comes up to me and points to herself and goes "I'm Claire!". So I said "Hello Claire! I'm Mommy" and then she took my hand and started to shake it and goes "Nice to meet you!".

:cloud9:

:yipee: That's awesome!!!!

I'm glad that it's helping her speech :hugs:

I'm also sure she has a fun time after she gets over being upset though that is hard to watch. My cousins little girl is kind of the same--they put her in preschool for a few days a week and she literally cried for the entirety of the first week and into the second! She's slowly getting better (crying for only a few minutes after they drop her off) and is starting to interact more but it has not been an easy process for them

Nothing fun here. Weighing Anberlin, Zoe has speech therapy, and then I meet with a lawyer.

yay tiff! Im glad to hear claire is doing so well. One of my friends has put her daughter in preschool a couple days a week for the same reason and it really has helped her. I noticed how much more she was talking at Jasmines birthday.

Way to go Claire! :happydance:

Not much here, we were going to go to playgroup but B has decided she needs a nap right now instead so we may just catch the end of it if she wakes up in a better mood then she went down in.

Way to go Claire!!! <3

ALL of my friends with 3 year olds have them in preschool... what are you guys going to do (if your kids aren't old enough yet)...

Elyse could have gone to the co-operative preschool that's around the corner, they go from 30 months until they are old enough for school, 2 days per week from 8-11:30... it was $9/day plus you had to volunteer etc, but I didn't think that she was ready when September rolled around. She could go in January? Or next September she could go to preschool mornings OR afternoons Mon-Fri (free)...

Jasmine isn't in preschool... I just can't afford it and she is on track with everything for kindergarten so I haven't worried.

Good morning!
Husband is dropping the ILs off at the airport and we are hoping to clean and pack and start out for Nelson today. Thinking to stay in Radium and drive the rest of the way the following day, maybe.
It's so frustrating - I'm trying to get things organized and all Tobe wants to do is nurse. He has a really runny nose today, so I guess that's part of the problem, but I'm sitting here tapping my fingers with impatience, willing him to drink faster!!!! :haha:

Tiff - great news about Claire! :)

Tasha--same as Joss really. Hannah is on track for kindergarten so I haven't really looked into it. I have enrolled her in an independent of parent kinder korner class for the winter session though to get her used to the kindergarten type environment without me around.

I would consider the cooperative school you were mentioning as well. It sounds like a good opportunity for her to get out and socialize with other kids etc. and the price isn't to bad IMO

hope you have a safe trip Sarah :)

Helena is in preschool, just 2 hours 3 mornings a week. She is there right now. She wasn't old enough when it started, but I still paid for that month to hold her spot and she just had a late start. The first 2 months, the parents would bring their kids into class and help them get settled, but starting Monday, the teacher comes out into the lobby and takes them in, so they are used to the structure of school a bit more. We don't have JK here, so Helena will go to preschool again next year and then kindergarten.

It's short, but I love it. I like that they work on her writing, field trips that I would never take her on, and is more structured than I am, like lining up at the door and waiting till their names are called, etc.

Helena's is $130 a month.

Apparently JK here isn't mandatory? I'll be sending Hannah regardless though  I really do need to look and find out what school is easiest for us to get to and about enrollment etc. I can't believe our kids are so close to school age!!!

That's not a bad price at all Wendy!

I never looked all that closely into it here but I probably would have if we didn't have that community centre close by to do classes with (or I had another child earlier on )

For some reason, every time I go on FB, I get in a fight with someone
I CANT HOLD IT IN.

I was told you should begin the process of enrolling them in school in Feb. Apparently if you wait too long you may not get your child into the school you want.

Anyways get their shopping started for christmas? I got Jasmine a doll house, it was $50 off last week and I got a couple gift cards for Jasmine for her birthday so I decided to get the nice one I really want :D I got the slip that its at purolator waiting for me!

https://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=4057644

Im going to put it together and have it by the tree christmas morning for her.

we picked up a few items for Hannah while we were at the mall this past weekend :)

The dollhouse is nice Joss!

I didn't go to JK either come to think of it

That will be awesome Joss! I always wanted a dollhouse when I was a kid. Helena always looks at that one when we go to Toys R Us.

Neither JK nor SK are mandatory. You don't legally have to send your child to school until they are 6, hence why the Universal Child Care benefit ends at age 6. One of the reasons they are implementing all-day, every-day Kindergarten is to cut down or get rid of the UCCB altogether.

UCCB is a friggin' joke. Raped me on my taxes. :sulk:

Claire will go early, well P wants her to. I want her to as well but I'm having a rough time of it all. Hopefully she's potty trained by then! :argh: :haha: The kid screams at her potty and the toilet.

how does that work since she's a December baby Tiff? I'm sure it's been mentioned but I really don't remember right now
