I think we should actually get a small dog- due to the size of the house, living in the city (lack of leash-free areas)... Andrew doesn't want a small dog whatsoever though and won't even consider it, even though I tried to appeal to his Scottish heritage LOL and suggested a couple of little terriers...
Ever since he saw one of my family's friend's dogs... a black Russian terrier... a GIANT one at that... he has been obsessed with getting a bigger dog though. His parents had a dog that was a mix of some kind and huge too, who died when I was pregnant with Elyse... he was a great dog though. Now his dad has a Shar Pei... I REALLY hate that dog, and I know it's awful, but it always puts its bum on me
it gets smelly if it isn't groomed often and it's not wet dog smell it's just nasty. I feel bad though, it's Andrew's dad's dog, and because he moved out for 18 months, the dog was left with Andrew's mom.. who took care of him but didn't really follow all of 'the rules' because it wasn't "her" dog iykwim. Poor thing is probably confused... but I think the way that dog is definitely put Andrew off certain breeds of dog.
So he wants a golden retriever, lab, or german shepherd. It wouldn't be the end of the world having any of those dogs, lol. But regardless of what he says, we are both the adults here and there will be times where we both have to feed, walk, clean up after, play with, etc. whatever dog we end up getting.. so I think my opinion should count as much as his- even if he says it will be "his" dog.. he brought up the argument that I got to pick out the cat. Well, he was indifferent about it... I'm not about this...
And he is a big suck, he is Gina's favourite, they cuddle and everything... although I'm the one scooping her poop and brushing her, paying for her things
