Which one did you/would you choose and why?

When do you make the transition from cradle to cot/cotbed?

We opted for cotbed, DS1 is 3 and is now in a toddler bed which was given to us, otherwise he'd still be in the cotbed whereas I've had friends who've opted for a cot which they've had to replace after 2 years.

DS was in his crib till he was ~4 months then he moved to his cot. He could have lasted longer in his crib but was such a noisy sleeper we moved him to his own room early!

I chose a cotbed only because I liked that it can be converted into a toddler bed and used a little longer - saves a bit of money. :flower: The cotbed is from Babies R Us and lovely.

LO was in a snuzpod until approximately 4-5 months, at which point, I transitioned him to a Kinder Kai Compact Cot. Yes, I bought another one, because the cotbed was too big to fit in our room and I just wasn't ready to put him in his own room yet.

My 2 year old dd is still in her cotbed she still has plenty of room and we havent yet converted it into a toddler bed... she went from moses basket to cotbed at 3 months as she was too long for her moses basket.. we will be buying her a single bed in the next few months as I would like to use the cotbed for this baby so we may aswell buy her a full sized bed. X

We had DS in his crib in our room until he grew out of it at about 3 months. Then he had his cotbed in our room until he was 6 months. He then went into his own room in he cotbed and has been in it ever since. It is plenty big enough and he is really comfortable in it. I would recommend a cotbed as they last for so long x

We have a cotbed. We had it for ds and now dd is in it. So far it's lasted 5 years plus, so well worth its money. With ds we put him straight in to the cotbed but he always look so lost! With DD we had a moses basket and then moved her into it. It will last her until she's at least 3 maybe 4 depending on how fast she grows!

Cot bed! Lasts longer and they're more common these days so easier to buy bedding for. I put dominic in his cot (in our room) at 7.5 weeks because he's a gigantic baby.

We got a cotbed simply because it would last us longer and was better value for the money. We bedshare, but our daughter started to sleep in the cotbed (as a cot, with the sides on) in the evenings from around 8 months. We transitioned to using it as a toddler bed at 18 months, shortly after she started to walk confidently (which was at 16 months). We'll keep her in the toddler bed until we need the cot again for the next baby, which since we'll bedshare again, won't be before she's 4. She's 27 months now. Then we'll pretty much do the same next time, so it will get a solid 8 years of use.

Cotbed just because they last longer. We put Finley in his when he outgrew his moses basket around 3 months. xx

my eldest 2 had cotbed but DD2 had a small space cot and then single bed at 11mths x

We went for a cotbed for both daughters. DD1 still uses hers at almost 3 (bed now) and I imagine itll do her at least another year. My friends daughter (almost 7) is still in her cotbed lol xx

M was in a crib from birth until about 5 month old when we put him in his cot (cotbed) in his own room, he slept amazing, then at about 9-10 month old we took the sides off the cot and made it into a bed, another decision i dont regret.
M isnt walking properly yet so i was a bit weary of it, but he is so much better in a 'big boy bed', we dont even have a bed guard on because it was more dangerous him leaning on it, all i do is put a blanket on the floor at the side of his bed for when he does fall out (there is no if about it) i would highly recommend a cot bed rahter than just a cot, i think its just a logical idea really 2 in 1 and will last them for some good few years!
