Actually historically the nurses/midwives used to shave the mother while in the early stages of labour; long before the heyday of porn in the 70s, in some private hospitals in the UK I have heard they still do this (and even give you an enema as well ) would much rather shave myself ta very much! xx

I'm not talking about during labor, I'm talking about in general. I really don't care what nurses/midwives used to do. That's why I said I don't believe in it at all. I don't do it- ever. And for the record doctors, nurses, midwives don't do it here, except in the case of shaving for a c-section.

yes 'call the midwife' comes to mind, set in the 1950's (if i remember right) i've just been reading the book! shocking!! good read though! and yes i'd much rather do my own pruning too!! Xx

I did it myself, because I had a section and I was told to. It wasn't easy though, and damned uncomfortable. Took ages to grow back and it was beyond itchy. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have to.

I didn't get chance as I went into labour early so the midwives were just confronted with Sideshow Bob when the time came to whisk me to theatre they trimmed it whilst giving me an oh-so attractive pair of long white stockings, how the male doctors didn't jump my bones there and then, I don't know

My waters broke on the Sunday night, and after phoning the hospital I jumped straight in the showrooms washed my hair and shaved down there..... there was no chance I was going in to hospital without having my hair washed dried and straightened!! Lol in labour I probably wouldn't have cared about downstairs being shaved but I'm glad I did x
