Does anyone else not plan when they are testing and just waits for AF to show or not?

Hey Ladies,

Me and my hubby have just started to try for a baby again but in a very relaxed approach. This is our first month and my first 2 WW!

One thing I have learnt from coming on this forum is I really don't want to torture myself I can't believe the amount of ladies on here wasting so much money on tests well before anything will show up and I hate to hear of you all so much I have now made a vow that I shall never test unless AF is at least a few days late I know it is hard I too am impatient but I don't think I could stand the heartbreak every month especially when most of the time it is too early to tell anyway and doesn't actually mean anything as everyone says your not out till the fat lady sings

Is anyone with me on the no testing till AF is late front?!

I dont test until AF is late. Its hard sometimes to get through the 2 WW but I dont want the dissapointment of the BFN either.

I totally agree with you both. In 2009 when we were TTC our son, I tested literally at 7-8dpo every single month. And for what? to get BFNs. And I wouldn't even go for the $ tests, I'd actually waste my money on FRERs and digis. Believe me, I've learned my lesson well when I could've opened up an HPT shop!! I had so many of them in my house it was ridiculous. DH got so upset with me and I really did become narotic. Now since my cycle is regular (before it was very irregular, that was the biggest reason I kept testing because I never knew what would be considered late for me), I'm NOT testing until I'm at least a few days late. I've been getting my cycles every 27-29 days and if I don't get it the 19th, 20th or 21st, then I'll take a test. I can't waste money and energy. I can't cry over something that was never there in the first place. TTC is supposed to be an exciting and joyous time, not a time of disappointment over and over again. So, I'll be waiting!

I already wasted a pricey digital HPT a few months ago. So, i'm saving the last one.

I'm with you on waiting until you're late. I cheat and every couple days I test with an OPK to see if that will show anything even though I know they are not the same thing and an HPT. 10 DPO not positive OPK and 13 DPO positive OPK.

I would rather wait and stay calm then drive myself crazy. I just do positive visualization and meditation on the positive things I want in life.

Im not going to test until I am late either.. I am due today and so far......Nothing.. Last cycle I spotted the day before I got AF full force and I didnt get that either.... I'm nervous... gonna try to wait until tmrw to test... but may break down and test tonight when OH is home

Depends. I never test before 11 or 12 DPO. Usually AF has arrived by 12 DPO as I have short cycles & luteal phase. I only test if I have good reason to believe I should.

I don't (personally) see the point in merrily testing away from 5/6/7 DPO, as it's extremely likely to be negative, and at that early stage there's a significantly high risk that i'll just be a chemical. I'd rather not get my hopes up, or for that matter, see a BFN several times every cycle. Constant disappointment for one week in every four is not my idea of a good time.

I have only tested before AF a couple times. If I am cramping alot I will test. This is because I have had an ectopic before and didnt know I was pregnant because I got a "period". I just test to see if I am pregnant or not because I am always afraid I am going to have another ectopic and want to make sure if I do I catch it early and can save my tube this time.

I caved and tested at 11dpo this moth because I caved, but of course it was negative. My AF is due today and still nothing, I am hoping she stays away
