Did anyone use the needle as contraception?
can anyone tell me if they used it and what the side effects were.
and how much it costs.
Like i think isnt there a needle you can get that stops you getting your periods for about a year, therefore you cant get pregnant, or every 3 months or something?!

My friend used it and has not stop bleeding (as in having her period) for about 3 months! She hates it, unlike the pill you cant back out once its happened.

My mums cousin had a reaction to it and died...seriously. But my best friend has it all the time and she loves it. I dont trust it personally, it hasnt been about long enough for us to know what long term effects it has. and like ampersandme said you cant back out like with the pill.

Yeah my friend got her period once every 3 months on it. It's very commonly used here, I think it's called DepoVera or something? A lot of peoples' health coverage takes care of it here, I've never paid for any birth control at all.. but I know people who pay every month.. so it depends I guess!

I had the Depo injection, you have one every 3 months

I had my only injection in July 07, then I had one two week long period in August, one 2 week long period in November, then nothing until May 08

I also put on a stone in 2 weeks with it, made me mardy, my boobs where sore and I was so unhappy

yeah my mate has it and she had a stage where she had no period for months and then kept having really heavy ones. And as said before, once its in its in!

i was on it for 7 years (from age 15 to 22) never had a problem...didnt have periods and i came off in Nov and fell pregnant in march

I have never had it but i have a friend who uses it and loves it, she has it every 3 months and doesnt have periods, she said she put on a bit of weight but thats it. She doesnt pay for it as she has it at a local youth clinic but im not sure if its free to everyone.

I was on this before but put on lots of weight and the other problem was that even though i had my jabs regular as clockwork i fell pregnant with my son whilst on it, have heard the same from a few people, but it really is up to you which method you use, but maybe talking to doc or family planning clinic could help you make the right choice for you xxx
