I was reading on the side of my formula box that at 4-8 weeks LO should only be having 5 feeds a day? Edie is still having 6! How do I get her to drop a feed? Also how do I get her to have a bottle at the same time everyday? She eats at a different time every day at the moment!

The amounts on the side of the box are simply a guideline hun and every baby differs. Francesca was on 6 or 7 bottles a day until around 5 months old when weaning was really getting established.

Feeding on demand, especially at this age, is the best thing to do because their little tummies are still tiny - and if you think about it you aren't hungry at the same times every day, so why should your baby be?

Just keep going as you are and follow your lo's lead - sounds like you're doing just fab xxx

I agree with the PP - they're just a guideline! My LO still eats 7 times a day and she is 10 weeks. She has a combination of breast milk/formula, so not sure if that makes a difference.

My pediatrician says she should have 4-6 ounces at each feeding, but she only takes 2-4. She's gaining weight, so I'm not too worried.

My LO has 6 bottles a day hun so don't worry about what it says on the box. :flower:

You can't drop a feed, they need to eat when hungry even if they're eating 8 times a day and they'll let you know all about how hungry they are lol. every baby is different hun. My 5month old will down a 6oz bottle with banana's after.

Pay no attention to the side of the box! I was looking on the Aptamil website yesterday and it said that a 2-4 week old should be having 5 feeds a day!!! DD2 was having like 8-9 feeds a day then and didnt drop to 5 feeds until 3 months! xxx

Thanks everyone, I'll stop worrying! She usually takes 5oz bottles at each feed but she's started only taking 2.5-3 on her last feed at night and then the same 4 hours later and then about 2 hours after that is waking up starving!!

You're heading into the first big growth spurt so expect her to want feeding more often for a few days xxx
